Chapter 181

181 Don’t forget the antidote, please! part “I can’t do anything, she’s far gone”

“That’s what you’re saying, but you still have some mana left, I can see it”

Ryu said completely Ignoring the fact that no one was supposed to know that mana could be seen by the naked eye after using a skill. Lea didn’t have the time to ponder if she believed him or not and hurried to reply before facing the consequences.

“I do have mana, but... If I keep going I might die, for real!”

Contrary to Helena, Lea had formal training as a priest and she was able to regulate the amount of mana poured into someone to make the healing process more efficient. It was slower, but she was able to heal more health points at a reduced cost of mana.

“I will only say this once, so better listen well, you have to save her, you have to, even if it means losing your life”

“Now you’re being unreasonable”

“Enough blabbering”

Ryu’s eyes glimmered and energy started pouring from every part of his body. It wasn’t as dense as to be able to be seen like in past times, but it was strong enough to be felt by everyone.

.....

Without a choice in the matter, Lea placed her hands again, only to receive the same results. Ryu let her rest for a minute and then prompted her to continue.

“Again! do it again!”

Healing, screaming, excruciating pain over and over. After her fifth failed attempt her mana was running low and her mind was almost broken. She was drooling and couldn’t close her mouth, her eyes were shut open.

“Again!”

Lea didn’t react, it was as if she couldn’t hear him, but she did. Ryu’s voice resounded in her mind and she couldn’t hold her fear. Despite knowing that it might kill her she placed her trembling hands on top of Anne’s chest one more time.

“AHHH!”

She fell right on top of Anne, but Ryu pulled her hair and lifted her. Everyone from their party stared in disbelief how Ryu was treating Lea after being so nice to her. They couldn’t believe how a nice man Like Ryu could have become so ruthless.

Sera stared at the scene with a pleasure she had never experienced before, she held a wicked grin on her face and her soft tongue licked her lips ever so slowly. Her sadist personality was thriving in this situation and she embraced her dark desires, seeing her beloved mister Ryu behaving like that was the most exhilarating moment in her entire life.

“Keep healing her, you still have some more mana left!”

Ryu’s glimmering eyes pierced the young priestess, she was already on the verge of becoming a mindless husk. She had lost control of her bladder, her muscles were sore and stiff and she was moving like a puppet.

Wishing an end to it, Lea placed her hands on top of Anne once more. She was completely certain that this time she wouldn’t survive and she felt relieved by that fact.

“Do it, why are you taking so long!?”

Ryu lifted his hand to slap Lea on the face, but he was stopped by Bob, who avoided his gaze.

“Ryu stop already, can’t you see she’s helpless?”

Ryu tried to move his hand away, but Bob’s grip was too strong.

“Come on man, let her go, she’s just our age”

Even Luke tried to convince him, but Ryu’s heart was unmoved. But everything changed when he glimsped Sera’s arousal at the sight of the needlessly violent scene. it somehow brought him back to his senses and snapped out of it.

“I-I’m sory, but I’m just desperate”

“If only we kept one of the venom glands we could try to make an antivenom”

“What did you say Luke?”

“An anti venom...”

“We do have one!”

Ryu looked at Sera, who was still daydreaming, and she hurried to look for the venomous sting they picked up earlier.

“How do you make an anti venom?”

Ryu asked Luke who had suggested it in the first place.

“How am I supposed to know!? I just know it existed in...”

“Luke... I never expect much from you, and somehow you still disappoint me”

Ryu’s words hurt him worse than stabbing his heart, it made him question every choice he made up to this point. Deep down he knew he was a disappointment to everyone, he knew well how Anne and Helena looked at him with disgust, how everyone disregarded his opinions and the worst part was, he knew he earned it.

He acted too arrogant at the beggining, then he took advantage of everyone and did the bare minimum to help his companions. He let himself drown in the pleasures of the flesh and always acted in a selfish manner. Without even knowing why he held to the slim hope that Taffy was lying to him when she told him she played him for money. All he needed was someone to rely on, and now he had chosen his new friends and tried to be the best version of himself, he couldn’t endure the feeling of being, yet again, a disappointment to everyone.

It reminded him of his past life, being a spoiled rich kid in the wealthy part of town. Every whim he had, anything he wanted, was immediately addressed. He didn’t need anything outside his toys, his consoles and his tv shows.

And then, just before he sank deep into the chain of events that led him to be transported into this world, he suddenly remembered he always watched docummentaries and, in a sudden strike of inspiration he was able to remind the process.

“I remember now! they poisoned strong animals that were able to resist the poison, then used their blood to craft the anti venom!”

Ryu took a quick glimpse at Famine, who wailed softly and lowered its snout to the ground. The poor beast was more than willing to sacrifice itself for its master, but it didn’t mean he was immune to pain or fear.

“Don’t be silly Famine, I wouldn’t do something like that to you, specially not after you risked your life for us”

Were Ryu’s last words before sticking the venomous sting on his neck.
