Chapter 88

88 Stop yelling

Her dislike for the Yi family ran deep with roots spanning a great distance. She worked with the Marshal but she also blamed him for letting her husband die and that blame extended to the Marshal’s offspring.

When her husband was attacked and requested for backup the Marshal was nowhere to be seen and when she officially asked for them to find the person who committed his Royal Highness’ murder all she got was sympathetic looks and threats.

She was told to let it go or risk losing the Bloodgarde so yes she had great hatred for the Marshal and all his Generals. Such blatant betrayal made her want to instinctively protect her son.

The Yi family used people and once they had no use for them they abandoned them. They used her husband to consolidate their power and maintain their exclusive rights to the military but when her husband’s ashes were scattered on that dead planet they didn’t avenge him. They only performed a shoddy funeral service and that was it.

Her emotions became chaotic recalling all that pain and hurt at the time. Her chest felt heavy as a strong emotion stabbed through her heart. With heavy quickened breathing she clenched her fist and closed her eyes. As the darkness festered spreading deep into her bones she suddenly had the same urge she had on the day of the funeral.

She wanted to drive the Executioner of Blight into Marshal Yi’s chest and stab his heart directly. She feared him but when her emotions were in such disarray she feared no man.

Zi Han who had been messing with the mech pendant just now lay down with his head on her lap. It wasn’t certain whether he felt his mother’s turbid emotions or it was pure coincidence that he lay his head on her lap. Whichever the reason it seemed to pull her back from the sea of darkness.

When she opened her eyes the fog in her eyes had cleared and her emotions had gradually mellowed as she entered a relaxed state.

For a moment she had forgotten why it is that she didn’t succumb to that strong desire to kill. It was because of the small leg kicking her belly as though reminding her he was still there.

.....

Just like how she reminded him back then he was also reminding her now by lying on her lap. She did it all for Zi Han. If it weren’t for him she would have long joined her husband after slaughtering all her enemies. Brushing his hair with the tips of her fingers she said, “You aren’t a kid anymore. Sit up straight.”

Zi Han knew she was bluffing so he shuffled and lay on his side with his face facing the hovercar door while continuing to mess with his mech like he hadn’t heard her. “It’s comfortable,” he mumbled.

A sweet smile appeared on Zi Xingxi’s face as she raised her head to look at her father. Zi Feiji had felt that familiar monster rearing its ugly head but before he could talk her daughter out of the darkness his grandson pulled her back.

At this moment he couldn’t help but feel distressed for her. He blamed himself for failing to save her husband and desperately wanted to go back in time and take his place but the federation hadn’t yet managed to develop time travel technology.

It was sweet moments like these that numbed the pain and gave off the illusion that all was well. How much he treasured these moments.

The heaviness in the air completely dissipated more especially when they got home. Steward Lu came running out with a look of excitement startling the three.

“You must have successfully replicated that Japanese souffle cheesecake in the old earth archives. Other than that nothing is as exciting,” said Zi Feiji with a nonchalant attitude.

Old Lu clenched his fist in excitement and said, “No, not yet but Master your map. Marshal Yi returned it. It’s back in your study.”

Zi Feiji, “...”

In a state of disbelief, Zi Feiji walked past the old steward and rushed into his study. Two minutes later he came back with a dark expression puzzling the three of them. They thought Zi Feiji would be happy his map he had been whining about for days was back. Of course, he was happy but that wasn’t his focus.

His current focus was on the reason why it was back. What was Marshal Yi planning? One has to understand that Marshal Yi would never do anything out of the kindness of his heart. It was either he wanted something or something even worse was about to go down. So nope he couldn’t be joyous and merry at this moment.

“What? Did he scribble on it?” asked Zi Xingxi as she put on a pair of bunny slippers.

“No.... wait, now that I think of it I wouldn’t put it past him. Damnit,” replied Zi Feiji before running up the stairs.

Zi Han was already ready to get out of this makeup and dress so he said, “I am going to my room to take a shower,” before taking a step toward the stairs.

Zi Xingxi sat down on the couch and said, “No, bring the wipes from my bedroom and I will wipe off all the makeup for you.” Soon the sound of a movie filled the lounge while Zi Han climbed up the stairs. Two minutes later he was yelling from his mother’s bedroom.

“Ma!” he yelled while turning her bathroom upside down.

“What!” she yelled back feeling a little irritated. How many times has she told him not to yell?

“I can’t find the sftxxfzx sggsdyjs hsysyd,” the rest of his sentence was gibberish. That’s because she couldn’t hear him anymore.

“I can’t hear you. Come down and say it!” she yelled feeling a little flustered. You think a seventeen year old would be considered a grown-up that is until they do stuff like this.

“Huh?!” yelled Zi Han meaning that he hadn’t heard her. Zi Xingxi had no choice but to get up and walk up the stairs.

Zi Han who had no idea she was coming for him kept yelling, “Ma, I can’t find it. Where did you say it wa-.”

“Stop yelling,” she appeared behind him sending his soul straight to heaven, “and it’s right in front of you.” She picked up the packet of wipes and didn’t forget to hit him upside his head with it.

“Ouch,” whimpered Zi Han but Zi Xingxi ignored him as she led the way back to the lounge. Seeing her mood improve Zi Han smiled happily.
