Chapter 91

91 Half baked lies

Yi Chen’s entire body stiffened and his heart beat accelerated when he heard what his father’s said. Yes, he would love to go on a date with Zi Han as himself but not as Hanifa.

The fact his parents had noticed..... no, the fact that his mother had noticed something already shocked him.

He had made the least effort to hide his interest in Zi Han but he didn’t think it would be this obvious that his mother would notice from one interaction.

Now that the milk had been spilled there was no way to put it back into the carton. The only thing he could do now was tell his father half-baked truths.

This was also to make his parents back off otherwise if they intervene there will be no guarantee that he would ever be able to be with Zi Han in this lifetime.

Yi Chen unclenched his fist and said, “Mum misunderstood..... There is no girl,” in a calm tone like he had nothing to hide. He had deliberately modulated his voice to prevent any of his true emotions from spilling over.

Marshal Yi’s brows knitted as he leisurely folded his arms across his chest a little perplexed. If there wasn’t a girl then why was he receiving silent treatment from his wife? He couldn’t even cuddle her to sleep which the Marshal seriously needed.

Now his son was telling him that he was getting the icy cold shoulder for nothing. “Elaborate,” he said in a sullen tone.

“Remember when I told you that Zi Feiji punished his grandson by making him wear a skirt? Well, today he came to the wedding wearing a dress. It seems that punishment is still ongoing so when she saw me talk to him it was because I was trying to figure out his circumstance that’s all.”

.....

If the heavens could speak they would be pointing fingers at Yi Chen and calling him a liar. He never lied to his father and in the past, he would choose to keep silent if there was something he didn’t want to say. But ever since he knew what sort of intention he had for Zi Han he had lied so many times already.

It seemed he was really good at it because Marshal Yi couldn’t detect a hint of deception. His facial muscles visibly relaxed as he said, “Oh, then you should tell your mother.”

Yi Chen scratched his head while saying, “I didn’t think she would misunderstand and try and set us up.” He was secretly relieved that he wasn’t exposed.

“But that Zi Feiji is something. He even dragged his grandson to a wedding in a dress? Wow! He must be that bored,” said the Marshal clearly fascinated. He couldn’t help but wonder what was going on in that old man’s head.

Yi Chen walked past his father and sat back down intending to hide the bra chicken cutlets on his table.

“I think he had a purpose. Apparently, he tackled Grandmaster Wayne and grabbed something from him. It must have something to do with a mech,” explained Yi Chen while clutching the chicken cutlets in his hand under the table.

Marshal Yi who hadn’t noticed his son’s subtle movements was suddenly enlightened. That old bastard Wayne even refused to make a protective mech for his kids.

He had indeed made Lin Ruoxi’s a couple of years ago but after that, he refused personal orders. It seemed Zi Feiji had found a way around it and snatched a mech from a genius. Fuck... even he had to admit that Zi Feiji was indeed a cunning fox.

He shrugged his lips before turning to look at his son. “When you have time tell your mother what you just told me. If I say it she won’t believe me,” he said before turning to leave, “Oh, and don’t stay up too late.” After that, his father left, and as soon as his door shut he heaved a sigh.

He uncurled his fingers and revealed those two conspicuous things that shouldn’t be in his possession. Yi Chen bit his lower lip as he gently caressed those silicone inserts and his face gradually heated up.

He didn’t want his parents to know that he was interested in a man let alone a man with the surname Zi. At least not yet.

He had to capture the man’s heart first before letting anyone know. He wasn’t certain what would shock them more the fact that he had a crush on a boy or the fact that that boy was Zi Feiji’s grandson.

Thinking of this he suddenly felt ridiculous. His life had been a straight arrow and he had a clear direction to where he was headed. But the day he met Zi Han everything seemed to spiral out of control.

For a stringent person who likes being in control of every aspect of their lives, this was unnerving. Feeling a little flustered he lay his head on the table trying to figure out when exactly the train derailed.

***

“How was it?” asked the old steward as Zi Feiji exited the training room in the penthouse.

The old man’s face was ghastly white and he was panting heavily like he had almost died. That’s because a mech in Zi Han’s hands was like giving a toddler a knife. A bloody scene was inevitable.

He wanted to wean Zi Han off Zi Xingxi thus he opted to train his grandson in the art of mech operations. But it turned out that it was a very bad idea. Even his own mech was traumatized in that short hour. No, no he couldn’t let himself suffer.

Whoever birthed that little demon needed to train it themselves. “Where is his mother?”

Old steward, “.....”

Such a distant tone clearly depicted the master’s experience in there. “She is in the gym doing yoga,” replied Old Lu but before he even finished his statement, Zi Feiji had already walked away.

Zi Xingxi who was busy doing the downward facing dog saw her father through the gap between her calves but she didn’t stop working out. She slowly moved her body into an upward facing dog pose and exhaled deeply like she was letting go of all her frustrations.

A restless Zi Feiji said, “I was wrong. You do it... Your son, you do it.”

“Now slowly let go of all your worldly burdens by gently moving back into the child’s pose,” said Chronos reading off a script on Starnet. Zi Feiji wasn’t certain if it was doing it on purpose or not but that tone was incredibly suspicious.

Zi Xingxi inhaled as she moved back and exhaled in the child’s pose before saying, “What did he do?”
