Chapter 441

441 He can lose his memory but he can’t forget his wife

When he woke up he was on the outskirts of a city with strange clothing. He had noticed a girl being dragged out of the city by two men and another older man being pressed down as he cried out with an outstretched arm.

The men holding them were twice their size and they looked like gangsters from the bet. They mentioned something about offering such a great beauty to their lord and all that nonsense so he took a dagger then head towards them and killed all of the five men.

After that, he passed out and the pair of father and daughter buried the dead and brought him back to their house in Kengston city. When he woke up again he was in a shabby looking house with a girl holding his hand. The first thing he did was remove his hand from hers and utter, “I have a wife. Please don’t touch me.”

The girl, “...”

They soon realised that he had no recollection of who he was or where he was from but he absolutely remembered he had a wife. He didn’t know who or where his wife was but he was adamant that he had a wife.

When they asked him how he knew, he said one of his stripes was missing so it could only be on his wife. The elderly man thought they could be indebted to him and he would hand over his daughter to the man as gratitude but the man insisted he was married and only saved them because he was a kind person.

The old man might have given up but the girl couldn’t move on. She fell in love with brother Chen from the moment she laid eyes on him. She knew this was her future husband so she did everything in her power to convince him that he would never reunite with his wife. The guy was after all from another strange planet and he wouldn’t be able to go back to his home planet. She also thought that even if he had a wife she wouldn’t come all the way here just to rescue him. Well, at least that’s what she thought.

She would say, “Brother Chen, how would you even recognise your wife when you see her,” or “brother Chen, I am sure she just wants you to live happily. You should move on.”

But no matter what she said he wasn’t moved. She was indeed beautiful but he wasn’t interested at all. Even when she dressed up or cooked the finest dinner he wasn’t interested. She would say something like, “Brother Chen, does your wife cook this good?”

.....

His answer was plain and simple. “This is good but my wife’s cooking is the best.”

The girl’s father was an inventor slash mechanic thus they were doing better than most. With the Stor F?niks’ blessing, the could afford to have a meal or two a week.

Every night brother Chen would stare at this pair of silicone chicken cutlets that supposedly belonged to his wife.

She didn’t know what they were but he would always say that that was the first gift his wife gave to him. She couldn’t get why he liked such a useless gift but brother Chen liked it.

When their family fell on hard times she didn’t hesitate to ask brother Chen to pawn his ring just for now. They could always buy it back when her father got a new contract. She seemed like she was genuinely asking for help but in truth, she was trying to eliminate any traces of the so-called wife. She wanted to slowly infiltrate his heart and get rid of the past and become his future.

Meanwhile, Zi Han and the pair of siblings travelled across the desert heading for the ravagers’ lair. They had travelled for merely a day before they reached this place. It was just outside the desert with a gate as tall as the serpent with a wolf head when standing at the tip of its tail.

They packed the hovercraft just outside their lair and watched the tall walls while trying to figure out a plan.

“How about we sneak in,” asked Nathan but Nayeli remained silent watching the patrolling guards playing a board game while gambling.

Zi Han had already calculated several plans in his mind and picked the one with the highest probability of success but he didn’t say anything. He was just waiting for them to ask for his opinion. After all the person they intended to save was their mother.

“Sneaking in won’t work. It’s either we enter through the front gate or nothing,” said Nayeli before turning to Zi Han and asking, “any thoughts?”

Zi Han’s answer was simple. He stared straight at the tall wall while saying, “Didn’t you want to exchange me for your mother’s freedom?”

The two siblings looked at each other in confusion but soon they understood what he meant. All they had to do was show this man’s worth and seek an audience with their leader.

“Are you sure about this?” asked Nathan and Zi Han showed a slight smile.

“I am more than sure,” said Zi Han before taking out rope from his storage space. Zi Han tied himself up before raising his head. The two of them were staring at him while he was tying his wrists together like a criminal.

“I am done now let’s go,” said Zi Han before moving back to the hovercraft.

“Are you sure this is going to work?,” asked Nathan and Zi Han laughed while saying,

“If it doesn’t I will just kill them immediately.”

“Okay,” replied Nayeli skeptical of this man’s ability. As long as he didn’t get them killed that’s all that mattered to her. She sincerely hoped to be reunited with her mother soon and the three of them could be safe together again. She just had to convince the guards to let them pass.

“Halt! Who goes there?” yelled one of the guards and the hovercraft stopped. They could identify that the hovercraft was one of theirs but they needed to verify it. In this world, it was better to be vigilant. One could never be too careful.
