CH 3

TL: Moonlit

Reminder: The word “female” will be mentioned many times in this series. The “female” mentioned here is not a girl or a woman. The “female” in this series is a male that has the function to give birth.

Lin Su got up from the ground and casually picked up the restraint ring that William had torn apart. He held it in his hand and examined it. It had a design similar to steel handcuffs, except it was pure black and had some weight to it. Thinking about how William easily broke it earlier, Lin Su sneered and tossed it into the trash bin.

With a loud thud, William, who had been keeping an eye on him the whole time, paused his eating motion. Lin Su quietly watched him, even though he had experienced that loss of control just now, this person showed no signs of being flustered.

Pulling at the corner of his lips, Lin Su said, “I guess you won’t be needing this kind of thing anymore.”

William looked up, his golden beast-like pupils had returned to normal, revealing large round irises that exuded a sense of innocence and purity when looking at someone.

Especially deceptive.

Lin Su clicked his tongue and pointed at the empty bowl in his hand. “Remember, you don’t get these things for free. Think about what you can use.”

After saying that, he turned and left the room, as if he would be at a loss if he didn’t say that.

Su Jin, who had been lingering by the door, breathed a sigh of relief when he saw him coming out unscathed. He didn’t specifically mention William’s situation, “I just saw that there are green beans and potatoes in the yard. Shall we stew some green beans for dinner?”

Lin Su picked up the bowl on the table, preparing to go to the yard to pick the green beans, and asked casually, “How is Male Father doing today?”

Su Jin didn’t want to say too much, fearing that Lin Su would feel pressured if he heard, “He’s been in good spirits these past few days.”

Lin Su nodded, knowing that Su Jin had a tendency to report good news and keep the worries to himself. He went to the yard and returned with a bowl of green beans and potatoes.

Su Jin had already prepared the fire, and upon seeing the hot water boiling on the stove, Lin Su remembered something. “Oh, by the way, do we have unused clothes from Male Father?”

“It’s for ‘him’, right? I’ll find them for you later and have Ding Ding help him change and clean himself up,” Su Jin replied.

That was exactly what Lin Su meant, so he nodded and smiled. “Then let Ding Ding handle it.”

Ding Ding was the only other large item in the house besides the tricycle—a very old household robot that made a clattering sound when it moved.

Lin Su washed the green beans and potatoes, cut them into pieces, and poured oil into the pan.

With just a few simple stirs, a delightful aroma wafted through the air.

For people like them who could only consume nutritional supplements, even with limited seasonings, the fragrance emitted by the simple ingredients was equally enticing.

Crouching in the yard, Tang Ou couldn’t help but wonder why Lin Su was so confident. Lin Su claimed that his recent partner was stronger than their partner—a severely mentally disturbed male—who was cherished. Tang Ou had never seen such a thing.

Just as he was thinking that, a pleasant aroma drifted over, instantly capturing Tang Ou’s attention, which had been wandering elsewhere.

He turned his head and fixed his gaze on the nearby bungalow—it was Lin Su’s house again!

Ever since Lin Su recovered from his illness, this aroma had been emanating from their house every day.

And because Lin Su’s house was located at the end, with no neighboring houses beside them, the aroma couldn’t reach anyone else’s house—it specifically drifted into their doorway.

If this wasn’t intentional, Tang Ou refused to believe it.

With a “gurgle,” he had just finished drinking a nutritional supplement, and now he was hungry again.

Everyone in the empire knew that eating unprocessed fruits and vegetables could be fatal, yet Lin Su’s family ate them every day.

His eyes involuntarily looked toward the vegetables growing in their own yard. Items like these were abundant in every household on this farm. Swallowing saliva, he turned and ran back into the house. “Female Father!”

Tang Ran, who was busy inside the house, heard him and turned to look at Tang Ou. “What are you shouting about? I’m not deaf, I can hear you. What’s the matter?”

“Female Father, let’s cook some dishes to eat too. Can you smell how delicious it is?” Tang Ou suggested.

With the hot weather now, they kept the windows open all day, and even before Tang Ou came in, Tang Ran could already smell the aroma wafting in. He had been secretly salivating as well.

“You’re not afraid of death, always stuffing everything into your stomach!” Tang Ran said, although, he didn’t outright refuse. After all, anyone constantly tempted by such a fragrance would find it hard to resist.

Tang Ou saw that his Father didn’t immediately refuse, so he smiled and approached him. “Female Father, they only say we should eat less of these things outside, but they never said we can’t eat them occasionally, right? Besides, we females and males are different, right?”

Tang Ran considered it and realized that in the empire, males could only form a contract with animal-type contract beasts. The formation of the contract affected their mental domains, leading to mental disorders in contracted beasts.

Because females can only form contracts with plant-type contract beasts, plants do not have a mental domain, so they are not affected in any way. In fact, to some extent, females can even soothe the mental disorders of males, although the effect is minimal.

Mental disorder is a nightmare for all contracted males in the empire. Currently, there is only one method to address this symptom—soothing agents.

Soothing agents can alleviate the symptoms of mental disorders to a certain extent, but they cannot completely cure them. Additionally, a male can only receive the treatment three times in their lifetime, and the effect gradually diminishes. Furthermore, the price of a soothing agent is exorbitant.

One vial of a soothing agent is worth 500,000 beast coins.

Wasn’t it for the sake of buying a soothing agent for Kane, who had already developed a C-level mental disorder, that Su Jin’s family exhausted their savings, Kane’s retirement pension, and borrowed a considerable amount of money from his comrades, which ultimately led to the downfall of their family?

If it weren’t for that, their lives wouldn’t be so difficult.

Just one vial of a soothing agent is enough to bankrupt an ordinary family, not to mention the second and third vials that follow.

Rumors say that now Lin Su has matched with someone who has an even more severe condition. It’s likely that they won’t even have money to buy nutritional supplements, and they will have to rely on fruits and vegetables with impurities every day.

However, the aroma is indeed enticing, and they are not afraid of occasionally indulging in it.

With these thoughts in mind, Tang Ran had a helpless expression on his face. “Then you better go to the yard and pick some vegetables. But I have never cooked it before, so don’t expect it to taste good. We don’t have much at home, so boil them with water.”

“No, it’s still early. I can go to town and buy some ingredients.”

After all, it was rare for them to have a proper meal, and Tang Ou didn’t want to settle for less. Tang Ran thought about it and gave some money to Tang Ou, telling him to buy some seasonings.

Purified fruits and vegetables are luxuries that only wealthy families can afford. For ordinary people like them, the most they can do is buy different flavors of nutritional supplements to fill their stomachs. If they really want to experience the taste of fruits and vegetables, they can only watch those food anchors on the Light Web and have a taste through virtual experiences.

Even the taste Tang Ou found to be average and completely different from the aroma that wafted from Lin Su’s house.

It seems that reality and virtuality are indeed not the same.

With these thoughts in mind, Tang Ou walked faster.

Lin Su scooped out two portions of the stewed green beans and potatoes, and set aside the roasted potatoes. Since they didn’t have rice at home, potatoes had to serve as the staple food.

One portion was taken by Su Jin to Kane’s room, and the other was delivered to Lin Su’s own room.

Previously, when William wasn’t there, Lin Su used to eat with Kane and Su Jin. But today, with the addition of William, Lin Su returned to his room.

Hearing the movement, William opened his eyes and instinctively looked at Lin Su’s neck. Seeing no traces there, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Lin Su glanced at the clothes on William’s body. Kane’s clothes seemed big when he looked at them before, but now that William was wearing them, they appeared somewhat small. However, given the circumstances, they could only make do for now. On the other hand, the clothes had been washed by Di Di, so they looked much gentler than before. Lin Su placed the meal on a small table, handed him a pair of chopsticks, and didn’t waste any words, “Let’s eat.”

Even though he had seen little tomatoes before, William was still amazed by the food Lin Su brought. Even though he had eaten purified fruits and vegetables in the past, it was never this frequent.

Not to mention the exorbitant price of purified fruits and vegetables, they were also scarce in quantity.

Yet this small female could easily produce them, and he seemed to consider it normal.

William was curious about the origin of these purified fruits and vegetables.

Does this young female possess the ability to purify them?

The mung beans were stewed until they were soft and flavorful, while the potatoes carried a tender and sweet taste. Although not many seasonings were added, the ingredients were purified, free from any bitterness or impurities. With each bite, a cool sensation soothed the torn spiritual domain, albeit momentarily, providing some relief.

Experiencing this calming effect once again, William was even more astonished. If the cherry tomatoes were a coincidence, how could this be explained now? Could it be possible that each purified fruit and vegetable given to him by Lin Su possessed this unique ability?

If the purification power of this small female was truly as special as it seemed, the entire empire would be in an uproar!

Observing William’s silent and composed manner as he ate, though not slow, it was still elegant, Lin Su deduced that this person must have received a good education before coming here.

Noticing the canine ears that occasionally swayed back and forth on William’s head, the fluffy white ears hidden within his white hair not only didn’t appear out of place but exuded a gentle softness.

Lin Su’s attention was instantly captivated, his grip on the chopsticks tightening. Suddenly, he spoke up, “Have you figured out how you want to repay me?”

The abrupt question caused William, who was in the middle of eating, to pause and raise his gaze at the small female.

As their eyes met, Lin Su’s black eyes revealed an unmistakable anticipation that she couldn’t hide.

William pursed his lips. Due to his spiritual disorder, he couldn’t speak at the moment, but he understood the meaning behind the small female’s words. He didn’t want him to eat and drink for free; he wanted him to exchange something in return.

However, he was currently alone and had nothing to offer…

“If you can’t think of anything, then let me touch your ears!”

In an instant, William’s ears, which were originally drooping softly on the sides of his head, stood upright as if startled.

Lin Su didn’t care about what he might be thinking; he had wanted to touch his ears for a long time.

After wiping his hands on his pants, he reached out and grabbed William’s canine ears.

The large, fluffy canine ears felt warm in his hands, with delicate and soft fur. They were even better to touch than he had imagined, no, better than what he had hoped for!

Originally, Lin Su just wanted to feel the sensation with his hand, so he put down the chopsticks and extended his other hand… The furry canine ears trembled gently in his palm, tickling his heart. Why did such an adorable thing exist in the world?

William’s whole body stiffened, afraid to make any sudden movements. His golden eyes, with vertical pupils, lost their previous fierceness and wickedness, replaced by a trace of dazedness. He could clearly sense the unmistakable excitement emanating from Lin Su’s body. He was so happy that even the dimples on his cheeks couldn’t be concealed.

He had never encountered such a bold little female before.

Although some males did use their bonded contract beast form to please females, he had never come across a female who openly asked to touch the other party’s beast form.

William’s cheeks grew hot from being touched, and he was thinking about how to refuse without hurting the small female’s self-esteem when the sensation on his ears suddenly disappeared.

Lin Su withdrew his hand, a smile on his face, and spoke naturally, “The feel is quite nice, right? Now you know what to do in the future, right?”

Faced with this suggestive language, William remained silent.
