TL: Moonlit

Fragrant chicken soup and braised chicken with mushrooms were served on the table. Kane twitched his nose, sat up from the bed, and stared at the food Su Jin placed on the small table. “What is this? Is it another creation by little Su?”

“Besides our little Su, who else could it be? Definitely not me. This is wild chicken that little Su brought back. I never imagined it could taste this delicious,” Su Jin said with a smile on his face, but his eyes were slightly red. He thought about how beautiful and capable their son, Lin Su, had become. It was all because he was forcefully matched with a partner who has a mental disorder. Although Lin Su didn’t complain about it, it left a sour feeling in Su Jin’s heart.

He placed a bowl of chicken soup in front of Kane and said, “This was specially cooked by little Su for you. He said it’s to nourish your body. Give it a try. I just had a sip, and it’s very flavorful. The chicken pieces are tender and smooth, and the mushrooms are delicious and well-seasoned. I’ve never eaten anything so delicious before.”

“I haven’t tasted it yet, but the aroma alone is incredibly enticing. Little Su has really grown up now, sensible and capable. Ah, it would be even better if he didn’t have me, this burden of a father holding him back,” Kane remarked.

“Just tell me these things; don’t say them in front of Lin Su. Lin Su is doing well now, so don’t dampen his spirits,” Su Jin replied, looking at Kane disapprovingly. He thought it was unnecessary for him to say such things. It only added to their worries instead of solving any problems.

Kane felt uneasy under his gaze. “I know, let me have a sip of the soup… Mmm, it’s really flavorful. Is wild chicken always this good?”

Surprised, he stared at the soup in the bowl. Apart from being flavorful, it also had a refreshing and cooling sensation stronger than when he ate cherry tomatoes before, soothing the discomfort in his spiritual domain. In an instant, he felt clear-minded.

The ethereal contract beast by his side lowered its head and let out a low growl, rubbing against his leg comfortably, its body becoming more solid.

“Well, if it weren’t for little Su’s discovery, we would never have had the chance to eat this in our lifetime. Don’t just drink the soup; have some meat too,” Su Jin said as he picked up a piece of meat and put it in Kane’s bowl. Seeing Kane holding the bowl in a daze, she couldn’t help but ask, “What are you thinking? Aren’t you eating?”

With excitement in his eyes, Kane raised his gaze to Su Jin. “I… I feel much better now. I feel warm all over, my mind is clearer than before, and my headache has subsided.”

“Really?” Su Jin’s eyes instantly lit up, looking at him with a joyful expression. He was afraid that Kane was just saying it to please him.

Kane thought for a moment before giving his evaluation, “I feel like this soup has a greater effect than eating cherry tomatoes.”

“In that case, you should drink more and eat some meat too. It’s wonderful.” Su Jin felt that since Lin Su had improved, their days had suddenly become less sorrowful.

Meanwhile, Lin Su served a bowl of chicken soup to William. “Drink this first to replenish your body.”

William stared at the soup in the bowl, lightly blowing on the hot steam. He took a small sip, finding it flavorful. The indescribable fragrance spread in his mouth, soothing his torn spiritual domain with a cool sensation.

While he was drinking, a chicken leg suddenly appeared in the empty bowl beside him.

“It’s said that foxes like to eat chickens so here’s a chicken leg for you.”

Due to the wild chicken’s size, which was as big as a goose, the chicken leg was also larger. It barely fit in the bowl. Lin Su looked at William with undisguised anticipation in his eyes.

William stared at the chicken leg poking out of the bowl and then glanced at the shining eyes of the little vixen.

His canine ears on top of his head trembled slightly as he reached out, pinched the bone, and took a bite. The meat was tender and not dry at all. The fragrant taste was the most delightful he had ever experienced.

With a single bite, a much stronger cooling sensation than before washed over his spiritual domain, bringing a sense of relief to his constantly aching domain. It almost made him hum with satisfaction.

Lin Su saw him squinting his bright beast eyes and enjoying the taste. His eyes became even brighter, and he placed a chicken wing into William’s bowl. “How is it? Is it delicious? Have more; there’s more in the pot!”

Once they replenished their nutrition, fox ears and fox tails would definitely be smooth and silky. Thinking about that feeling, the smile on Lin Su’s face became more genuine.

Unknowingly, William had eaten a lot. After finishing dinner, he noticed that the little vixen was staring at him with suggestive eyes.

His expression stiffened for a moment, and he turned his head, pretending to be natural, and casually draped his scattered tail over Lin Su’s leg.

He thought… it should be pretty obvious now.

Lin Su stared at the fox tail on his leg and exclaimed, “!”

Happiness came too quickly, and he couldn’t believe it. He looked up at William, who had his head tilted and his eyes half closed, not looking in his direction. Tentatively, he reached out and grabbed the soft, large tail, feeling that it was as good as ever.

The warm and fluffy tail, he really wanted to hold it in his arms and rub against it.

Seeing that William wasn’t looking his way, Lin Su grew bolder and stopped restraining himself. After all, they had previously agreed that he would take care of William’s meals, and William would give him “rua.” Now, this could be considered normal “payment.”

He extended his other hand and cradled the large tail on his leg, with a raised corner of his lips, revealing a beautiful dimple on his cheek. His cat-like eyes were bent, and his whole body was filled with joy.

Why does the world have such adorable and beautiful tails? Touching, rubbing, and pinching them feels so good. He really wanted to bury his face and give them a little suck. Ah, he couldn’t take it anymore. A little burying should be fine, right?

With that thought, Lin Su tentatively buried his face in the large tail and rubbed against it. It felt so comfortable, truly healing.

Lin Su bent his legs, placing the fox tail on his knee and leaning his head against it, closing his eyes with satisfaction.

Sitting next to him, William turned his head and pretended to look in another direction, his canine ears on top of his head twitching. He caught a glimpse of Lin Su and felt his cheeks heating up.

Compared to the fragrant dinner on Lin Su’s side, the father and son, Tang Ran and Tang Ou, who were forcefully consuming the nutrient solution, seemed somewhat miserable.

Smelling the aroma in the air and sipping the tasteless nutrient solution in his hand, Tang Ou’s eyes were filled with resentment. Clearly, their family was much wealthier than Lin Su’s, so why did they have to live worse than them?

After finishing one bag of nutrient solution, Tang Ou didn’t feel full at all but had no desire to drink a second bag. The slimy and sticky liquid truly had a terrible texture.

Combined with the aroma in the air, it made him feel like he was eating feces.

Standing up in frustration, he declared, “I’m going to find Xiao Feng. I refuse to suffer at home like this!”

Tang Ran didn’t stop him; he simply threw the empty nutrient solution bag into the trash can.

The next morning, Kane woke up feeling noticeably better than before. His spiritual domain pain was more bearable, and he even had some strength in his body.

Even the contract beast that could only lie next to him whimpering seemed more lively.

When Su Jin came in and saw him sitting up, he hurriedly said, “Why aren’t you lying down? What are you doing up?”

Kane smiled and patted his hand, reassuring him, “I feel especially good today, and I have strength in my body. Just sit for a while. Look, Da-Hei seems more energetic too.”

Da-Hei was Kane’s contract beast. Upon hearing his name, Da-Hei turned to look at Su Jin, wagging his tail happily. He did indeed seem much livelier than before.

“That’s even better. You should rest more. Little Su said you need to take good care of yourself now.”

“I know, I’ll lie down in a moment.”

Kane’s improvement lifted Su Jin’s spirits as well.

When Lin Su came out of the room, his expression seemed somewhat dazed, as if he hadn’t fully woken up. In reality, he was questioning whether he had sleepwalking disorder. He had never lived with someone before, so he had never paid attention to this aspect.

For the past two days, waking up in William’s bed, Lin Su felt that even though he had thick skin and could handle it, it was indeed too much to hold onto someone’s tail all day long, rubbing against it during the day and cuddling at night.

“What’s wrong? Didn’t you wake up?” Seeing his dazed look, Su Jin couldn’t help but smile and reached out to pat the stray hairs sticking up on his head. “Did you not sleep well last night?”

Lin Su raised his hand and rubbed his face. It wasn’t that he didn’t sleep well; in fact, he slept too well. He held onto someone’s fox tail and rubbed it all night. There was nothing better than that.

However, he couldn’t tell Su Jin about it. After all, he cared about his reputation.

“Cough, no, I slept well. How is Male Father?”

Hearing him ask about Kane, Su Jin’s smile deepened. “He can sit up today, and Da-Hei seems much more energetic.”

Lin Su nodded. He had noticed yesterday while eating chicken, that the purified meat stored the wood-elemental ability much better than vegetarian food. It should have a better effect on people with mental disorders.

After a simple breakfast, Lin Su greeted Su Jin and headed out to the Star Mist Forest. Today, he not only needed to help Yan Lie treat the remaining injuries but also catch some more wild chickens to raise.

After all, the “vixen” at home loved to eat chicken. ^_^

As Lin Su walked out of the door, he was greeted by Tang Ran, who immediately walked over with a smile. “Little Su, where are you going this early in the morning?”

Lin Su looked at him and put on a fake smile. “Oh, it’s a nice day. Just going out for some exercise.”

Tang Ran followed him for a while, obviously not wanting him to get away with it so easily. “What did you cook at your house yesterday? It smelled so good.”

Lin Su’s smile finally became genuine at his words. “Did Uncle Tang find it fragrant too? The taste of wild chicken is indeed good, but it’s better not to eat such things casually.”

After saying that, Lin Su ignored Tang Ran and headed toward the Star Mist Forest.

Tang Ran stood in the courtyard, watching him leave, and snorted. He thought to himself, “You should know that you can’t eat things recklessly.”

After Lin Su left, Su Jin began to gather the ripe fruits and vegetables in the yard. The purchase day was coming up in these few days.

“Su Jin, you’re busy!”

Suddenly, he heard this voice, and Su Jin looked up to see three men standing outside their yard. They were all neighbors in the vicinity, and they would nod and greet each other when they met outside.

For the first time, someone had come specifically to his doorstep, and Su Jin thought they had something to discuss with him. He put down what he was doing and walked over with a smile. “Yes, isn’t the purchase day coming soon? Why did you all have time to come together?”

“We heard that your family no longer consumes nutrient solutions and switched to eating fruits and vegetables. Even if life is tough, you can’t touch that stuff. Besides, you have a sick male at home. Su Jin, you can’t give up on life like this!”

“Yes, yes, we’ve all heard. The impurities in fruits and vegetables are harmful to males if consumed excessively!”

“If your family is truly in difficulty, it’s understandable to eat them for a few days, but you can’t do it every day. After you sell this batch of vegetables, you should quickly stock up on nutrient solution!”

“You can still get through tough times. Just don’t give up. By disregarding the safety of the male and eating fruits and vegetables with impurities, you’re essentially mistreating him. What if someone with malicious intent reports it? What will you do then!”

Su Jin: “…”
