Chapter 248 - I've Seen You Before

Cheng Yan stared at Yao Tangbefore sighing. “You shouldn’t skip any of your meals, okay?” he sternly said. “If you don’t faint, then I wouldn’t have to force you to eat the abalones.”

“Okay.” She still appeared indifferent to his coaxing.

Seeing her like this, he finally waved the waiter over. “Do you mind returning the spicy chicken plate?”

The waiter returned the plate, and Cheng Yan motioned toward it. “You can only have one, okay?” he warned. “It’s still bad for your stomach, so you can’t overeat. Okay?”

“I know.”

Yao Tang couldn’t care less. Fixating her gaze on the chicken, her eyes lit up as she took one piece—just as she had promised. As soon as she did so, Cheng Yan immediately waved the waiter over. “You may take the dish away again,” he said.

He didn’t even notice Qin Hao who was just about to pick a piece of chicken. Before he could, the waiter had already grabbed the plate and taken it away.

His jaw dropped in disbelief.

What the hell?

Despite his grievances, Qin Hao could only stare at the plate being taken away. His frown deepened. Seriously, why did he even join them for the meal?

As soon as the three had finished eating, Cheng Yan took Yao Tangback to the car. Before he followed them, Qin Hao turned to the waiter. “About that spicy chicken,” he slowly said. “Think you can pack it for me?”

..

The results of the Olympiad Math Competition wouldn’t be available for three days. Yao Ran spent the day sitting in her room, twirling the pen between her fingers.

There were rumors that the first place would be awarded by Cheng Zhou himself.

If that was the case, then she had to dress up well!

That way, she’d be able to attract his attention. Maybe then he’d finally make his move!

As long as everything had followed in accordance with her plan, the first-place prize would be hers. After all, she had the answer key. How could she not succeed?

Maybe then, Yao Tang wouldn’t be so arrogant about her achievements!

Ding!

Before she could think any further, Yao Ran’s phone vibrated on her desk. She pursed her lips. Normally, she’d silence her phone during her study period.

However, when she peered at it, she saw Cheng Wei’s name. She immediately answered.

“Weiwei, long time no see. How have you been doing?”

“Ranran, I have someone who I want you to meet,” Cheng Wei’s voice sounded immediately from the other end of the line. “The eldest daughter of the Yu Family had come all the way from Beijing. The Cheng and Yu Family always had very close ties. In fact, my grandmother had even arranged for Sister Yu to be my Sixth Uncle’s wife!”

Cheng Wei took a deep breath. “I’ve made an appointment to meet Yu Shu, and I was wondering if you’d like to come. After all, it’s only fair that the three of us get to know more about each other. What do you think?”

Yao Ran’s eyes lit up. If she got to know the daughter of the Yu Family, then wouldn’t that be a step closer to her goal?

She’d have more friends by the time she entered the Cheng Family!

After all, she’d need some allies if ever she were to marry Cheng Zhou. As Yu Shu was arranged to marry the sixth uncle of the Cheng Family, then she wouldn’t be a threat to her standing at all!

“Of course. We should meet tomorrow afternoon.”

The next day, Yao Ran dressed up as beautifully as possible and waited at the coffee shop that Cheng Weihad sent her.

At the other side of the city, Yu Shu was staring at Cheng Weiwith her arms crossed. They were headed straight to the venue Cheng Weihad arranged.

“Sister Yu Shu, don’t you hate Yao Tang as much as I do? It’s why I’ve arranged a meeting with Yao Ran, her “younger sister”. And don’t you worry, it seems she hates her even more than the two of us combined. I’ve already confirmed this with my team.”

Cheng Wei smirked, immediately telling her the truth that she had unfolded.

Upon hearing this, Yu Shu couldn’t help but laugh.

Ridiculous!

“I didn’t expect that Yao Tang would live such a hard life,” she said mockingly. “Her biological parents had made a mistake, and now, she suffers the price. That family’s a joke!”

“And that’s exactly why we’d team up with Yao Ran. With someone from the inside, she’s absolutely no match for the three of us!”

The pair cackled as they finally arrived at the cafe.

Yao Ran had been waiting for around twenty minutes when she saw Cheng Weiand another woman stepping inside. The other woman was wearing a pair of sunglasses that covered half her face.

However, as soon as Yu Shu saw the young woman seated by the window, she took off her sunglasses.

“Yao Ran…” A slow smile spread across her lips. “It’s like I’ve seen you before. Aren’t you the girl from the cafeteria?”
