Chapter 477 - Do You Want Revenge?

“Stop that. I didn’t come here to listen to you ramble on about your gratitude.” The girl narrowed her eye at the man and asked, “Zhang Shou, do you want revenge?”

The cowering man on the hospital bed was none other than Zhang Shou.

Because of Qin Man’s attempt at matchmaking, he had gone on a blind date withYao Tang, after which, he ended up getting arrested by the police.

He had been staying at the police station all this time, suffering the beatings and curses from the other inmates, who had presumably been bribed by the same person who had sent him to jail.

It was the first time Zhang Shouhad experienced such a horrendous ordeal. After all, he was a young master who had been pampered since he was a child.

Just yesterday afternoon, he had gone through the worst of it yet—someone had broken both of his hands and had even cut one of his ears off.

If it hadn’t been for this girl, he wouldn’t have survived the night.

At the thought of his brutal mutilation, Zhang Shou’s heart blazed with fury.

“Yes,” he spat out, his eyes burning with rage and hatred. “Even if only in my dreams, I would give anything to kill the person behind all this!”

The girl’s lips curled into a malicious smile, and her eyes glinted with satisfaction.

“Do you even know who that person is?”

Zhang Shou hesitated. Sure enough, he didn’t have any idea who this enemy was.

Last time, at the restaurant, he had been hauled away by the police without a single explanation.

The rest that had happened after that was even more preposterous.

At first, Zhang Shouwas confident that he would be released from custody soon enough. His family had money, and the arrest was likely just a formality.

This was why he hadn’t panicked. Little had he known then that he would be locked up to this day.

Not only that, but he also had to endure a lot of physical abuse. He never had a day of peace after having been detained.

Zhang Shou had even contacted his people numerous times, demanding that they find a way to get him out as soon as possible.

Needless to say, their efforts were all in vain, no matter how much money he offered.

He knew then that he had been set up, and that everything was arranged to end up the way it did.

He had fallen into a trap.

Zhang Shou was a pompous man who had many enemies, so he initially thought that they had banded together to attack him as one.

As such, he never considered Yao Tangto be involved in his dreadful fate. At most, she was probably just a pawn that his enemies had used to put their plans into action.

Zhang Shou’s eyes flashed. “I don’t know yet, but I know that once I get out, I will hunt those people and make them pay.”

He snarled before adding, “And that wench who tricked me… I won’t let her off, either!”

The girl suddenly burst out laughing, though he soon realized that it was filled with mockery, and it was aimed at him.

“Do you really think that the culprit is one of your business rivals?”

Zhang Shou looked bewildered.

Was it not them?

But if not, then who else would have the wealth and influence to do this to him?

“Do you mean to say that it’s someone else?”Zhang Shou asked respectfully as he tried to ignore the hint of ridicule on the girl’s face.

“I can’t think of anyone else who holds such a big grudge against me, though. For them to go this far…”

The girl tapped her cheek with her dainty finger and smiled. “You are partially correct, I suppose, but you are still missing the mark.”

“Then please, explain it to me.” Zhang Shoulowered his head again, looking humble as he had ever been.

He could tell that this girl knew a lot about his case—perhaps she knew everything—but he had been around long enough to know that she would only reveal the facts if her mood suited her.

“Not bad. You know your place, at least.”

The girl raised an eyebrow and nodded at him, looking pleased.

“In that case, I’ll tell you everything. The main culprit for all your suffering is Yao Tang. It’s because of her that you were detained at the police station, and it’s because of her that you are in your current… special state.”

Disgust flashed in her eyes as she uttered Yao Tang’s name.

“Although, I suppose I should let you know that the goons who attacked you were dispatched by the man who appeared later at that café, do you remember? He is an acquaintance of Yao Tang’s, and she specially asked him to teach you a lesson.”

The girl’s expression lightened up a little when she spoke of the man, but it only lasted for a few seconds.

“This matter has nothing to do with the Yao family. They are merely implicated. It wasYao Tangwho asked Madam Yao to find a man for her, to begin with. She has a vicious and greedy nature. What she really wants is for the business alliance between theYao familyand the Zhang family to collapse.”
