Plant Mage 25

I Think I’ll Make This My Campsite (2)

If I were in the imperial capital, I could have looked it up in the great library but in this land, I could actually raise this seed.

It is obvious which one is more interesting.

I started setting up the tent.

After a bit of struggling and sweating, I set it up.

By the time I had completed the tent where I could sleep in, it was already getting dark.

「I ended up using a little bit of magic to set it up.」

Since I couldn’t get the poles to support the tent up, I used plant magic to raise a seed I had brought with me and use it as poles.

The lack of a canopy makes me feel uneasy since I don’t have enough protection from dew or sudden rain. I had no choice but to sow seeds of trees that could grow on dry land and let them become my protection.

The western horizon was turning light purple and night would be upon me.

I use “life growth” to raise a tree suitable for firewood and cut it down.

Freshly cut wood has high moisture content so it’s not suitable for a bonfire so I decided to dry it out a bit using “life wither” however---

「That’s funny.」

It didn’t dry well and most of the wood decayed.

I could make a big fire using dead leaves and branches but I can’t make a slow fire because they would burn out as soon as I lit them.

「Hmmm, I guess I have no choice but to pick some in the woods.」

To begin with, drying and dying are two different things.

Drying it slowly over time is probably the key to making firewood that burns for a long time.

After my first night, I discovered a bit of a challenge.

Great, interesting.

I wrote “firewood making research” in my notepad.

The notepad is a bundle of paper that was sold at a market in Gartland for a single iron coin. It’s handmade but it looks good.

On the notepad, I wrote things like “raising mysterious seed” and “building a log house”. I looked at the notes and thought for a while.

Yeah, they all sound fun.

However, what should I really do?

---do what I want, live happily, live freely!

At the top of the list, I wrote those in big letters.

Okay, that’s it.

This is the beginning of my everyday challenge.

I found a few dead trees a short distance away and planted grape seeds there. The vines wrapped around the dead tree and formed an amazing trellis.

It is a fruit that is suitable for growing on dry land. Let’s have them for dinner tonight.

I bite into a fresh grape and look up at the sky.

This is my own territory where I’m the only person.

This is my campsite!

My voice echoed in the star-filled sky which is something that can’t be seen in the city.
