Chapter 49 - Margaret's Invitation

Chapter - 49

Alex's was relieved to hear that. He was excited to have Margaret ride the motorcycle with him, but more than that, now it won't be a hassle for him to carry the groceries back home. Alex handed his grocery bag to Margaret and went to get his motorcycle.

While Alex was gone, Margaret hurriedly called her driver, who was waiting at a distance, confused as to why his madam would ask him to stop.

"Don't come here. Just follow me back home," Margaret told the driver and hurriedly ended the call when Alex stopped his motorcycle in front of her.

"C'mon, hop on," Alex said.

Margaret was not shy about it like Karen. She sat behind Alex without a word, and the two of them drove off while the car followed behind, maintaining some distance between them.

The ride was smooth, well, most of the ride, unless, 'unintentionally', Alex had to apply breaks all of a sudden. And since Margaret was not holding on to anything, she would end up bumping into Alex's back.

Alex could feel the softness on his back. It was a bit different from when he rode with Karen. It was hard to describe, but the feeling was definitely different. With Karen, he could feel her heartbeat all the time, and with the cold breeze, it was the perfect time for a date. But with Margaret, it was more like a couple out for shopping, like a normal, happy day. Alex tried to look at Margaret through the side mirror but could not see Margaret's face as it was buried down. What he didn't know was that at this very moment, Margaret's heart was beating like crazy. The playful Margaret, who wouldn't miss a chance to tease the innocent Alex, had her face beetroot in embarrassment.

It took them no more than ten minutes, and they finally reached home. As soon as Alex stopped his bike in front of her house, Margaret got off and hurried towards her house, without even saying goodbye.

"Mis..., Margaret, wait up," Alex called out for her.

Hearing Alex, Margaret froze in her steps where she was but didn't turn to look at him, "What is it?" She asked.

Alex scratched the back of his head. He was confused as to why she was acting so strangely, "My bag. You have my bag of groceries."

Looking at the two bags in her hand, Margaret almost face-palmed herself. She calmed herself and turned around, but the moment she saw his innocent, cute face, her heartbeat rose once again. She could not believe herself. She was acting like a teenage girl in heat right now.

She walked towards Alex and handed him the bag. Though a bit confused as to why Margaret was acting so inexplicably, Alex took the bag and turned around to leave.

He had not taken more than a couple of steps when he heard Margaret, "Why don't you come to my house? Your parents won't be home any time soon, and you have nothing to do anyway. Give me company," Margaret invited Alex to her house.

Alex thought for a while before nodding, "Let me drop my stuff at home. I will be there in five minutes." Actually, Alex was only pretending to think and act calm on the outside. From the insides, his excitement was ready to erupt any moment.

Slowly turning back, Alex walked towards his house without any hurry. Looking at Margaret, who was standing at the same spot, Alex gave her a nod and walked inside the house.

"Mrs Flores! Mrs Flores!" Alex started yelling at the top of his voice. He rushed into the kitchen, put down the bag, and started searching for their housekeeper, "Grandma Flores! Where are you?" Alex was getting annoyed with every passing second. He searched for her all over the house, but she was nowhere to be found. Sometimes Alex felt that she was not their housekeeper, but more of a landlord. She would come and go as she pleases.

But right now, Alex didn't have time to think about Mrs Flores. He rushed to his room and threw his bag on the bed, and rushed into the bathroom. He wasted no time freshening himself, and within minutes he was out, changing clothes. He spent a decent amount of time on grooming himself though. He sprayed deodorant over his clothes, styled his hair in a couple of ways before finally settling on one. After he was satisfied, he gave himself one last look in the mirror before heading to Margaret's house.

Meanwhile, on Margaret's side,

The moment Alex walked inside his house, Margaret rushed inside hers. She too, hurriedly dumped her groceries in the kitchen and came to the living room and looked around. Since her maid had not been here for two days, her house was a complete mess. The appearance of her living room hardly met with the way she carried herself around. Alex would have been surprised if he had followed her right away.

The shoes she tried this morning were lying around, the bags she brought yesterday were still there on the sofas in the living room, and the leftovers of the take out she ordered last night, was still there on the table. She was glad that Alex didn't come right away. What would he think if he saw how she lived in her home? The elegant and mature image she tried so hard to create would have been shattered in moments.

She tied her hair in a bun and got herself busy. She picked up the leftovers and dumped them in the garbage can. After that, she grabbed her clothes, shoes, and anything she could think of, picked all of them at once, and almost dashed towards her dressing room. On her way, she dropped many of her outfits and shoes, leaving a trail of them. She came back after dumping her clothes and picked the ones she dropped earlier and dumped them the same way. After she was done, she looked around her living room once again. She grabbed her vacuum and started cleaning it, not leaving a speck of dust. For Alex, everything needs to be perfect to the finest of details.

She adjusted the sofas, picked up anything which was unnecessarily lying in the living room and dumped it somewhere else inside.

When she was sure that everything was in order, she went inside, washed her face, applied a bit of makeup, and changed into something comfortable yet not very casual. Giving herself one last look, she came to the living room, untied her hair, sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, and waited for Alex's arrival.
