The Fortieth Day of Divorce (1)

While choosing the script to accept, Liang Yan also watched the drama she filmed before and forgot due to amnesia. After seeing herself standing on the street and handing over a bento box while confessing to the male lead, “Ou Xichen, this is a bento I made for you! I really like you! I really do!...” She was disgusted, so she turned off the video.

It turned out that not only did the audience find it blindingly unpleasant, but she did too.

Who was the scriptwriter who wrote this plot and lines?

How the hell did she act that time?

Liang Yan finally realized that her bad reputation wasn’t only because of her appalling taste, but also because of the drama itself. The plot was messy, the protagonist’s lines were horrible, and she was unlikable. The black pot was poured on the head of the protagonist.

Liang Yan chose among the scripts that was offered to her, and finally settled on a medical drama called  “Benevolence.” The investment of this drama wasn’t as big as that of the male-oriented ancient drama adapted from the novel, and the popularity index wasn’t as high as the romance idol drama. Still, the production company, Shengsheng, had an excellent reputation within the circle.

Even though the ratings of their works were mixed, word of mouth was stable. Also, all their pieces had a passing score in Douban. .

“Benevolence” was a group drama with several important roles. Liang Yan’s  role was an intern doctor who just recently started working in the hospital. Among all the female roles, Liang Yan’s character was only second to the role of the head nurse.

It was said that the production team had approached other female artists that were interested in medical dramas, but in the end, they were refused because of the role and number of scenes in the group drama. Finally, the invitation fell on Liang Yan’s hands.

What moved Liang Yan’s heart about this drama wasn’t just because the reliable Shengsheng backed it, but also because of the male and female leads — Tong Lei and Wang Yili. Both were award-winning actors and actresses, and with their names on it, the drama was guaranteed to be released on TV.

It was guaranteed to be broadcasted on televisions with audiences spanning the whole country with them. TV coverage in China was so extensive that it could still beat a popular web series in terms of viewership. Currently, there are a lot of dramas, but less TV stations to share.

All the dramas squeezed to be released on TV because TV dramas had an incomparable advantage over online dramas, and that was the ability to participate in the selection of various film and television awards. In conclusion, you could win awards.

Liang Yan quickly replied to the production team, auditioned for two scenes smoothly, then signed the contract with them.

After meeting the producer, Liang Yan felt that appearance could change people’s hearts. Zhou Zhibo was extremely fat, and at a glance, you would realize he wasn’t a good person while the producer of “Benevolence” was in his forties, thin and tall, and always talked with a smile.

Liang Yan was still in a daze even after signing the contract. She couldn’t help asking, “Why me?”

As an actress with a very bad reputation, she had received an offer from Shengsheng and worked with award-winning artists, touching the edge of mainstream film and television.

As soon as she divorced Lu Lincheng, it was like she won the lottery and everything turned out better.

The producer smiled, “Do you want us to change to someone else?”

“No, no, no!” Liang Yan hurriedly protected the contract under her arm as if afraid that the producer would go back on his words.

The producer: “You had a good performance on “On Screen.” It was a pity that you didn’t continue in the show, so I invited you to our crew.”

Because of this, Liang Yan wasn’t so unhappy about her ex-husband forcing her off the show.

The next step was to take an official makeup photo. In order to fit into the status of the intern doctor, the stylist only put a primer for Liang Yan and provided her with specially selected thin frame glasses without a prescription for her to wear.

‘‘Done.” The stylist looked at her “finished product” with satisfaction.

Liang Yan wasn’t used to wearing glasses, her nose twitched when she looked at her reflection in the mirror.

“What do you think?” she turned to Jiang Mu and asked.

Liang Yan wasn't the sunny and bright type of look, in fact, she was somewhere in between the clean  and elegant look. Her main advantage was the ratio of her facial  features and her excellent eyes. She had the type of appearance that makes people comfortable, and the stylists’ favorite. With less personal color, the stylists could change her look according to different kinds of roles.

Jiang Mu stared at the low ponytail, thin frame glasses, light make up, and quiet aura. The whole person was just like Liang Yan, only short of holding a book in her arms.

“Now, I’ll believe you when you say you’re studying at Tsinghua University.”

No wonder some children clamor to their parents to provide them with glasses despite not being nearsighted. Just like Liang Yan, they would look like someone with good grades at first glance.

As an ordinary art student in culture class, Liang Yan’s face reddened in embarrassment.

The stylist handed Liang Yan the white coat.

Liang Yan didn’t feel anything when she wore the glasses, but wshe felt extraordinary hen she received the white coat.

She was about to play the holy angel in white who saved and healed the wounded and not the brainless heroine who screamed on the street, “Ou Xichen, I really like you!”

It was all thanks to Lu Lincheng who forced her to retire from the show; Shengsheng gave her a chance.

Because of this, Liang Yan was tempted to place Lu Lincheng’s picture on the wall.
