CH 86

The 44th day — Divorced (2)

She hissed when the water reached her ankles.

Although it was already April, and the temperature could reach thirty degrees, the artificial lake water was still very cold. The chill penetrated through her clothes like a snake, rushing straight into her bones.

When her body was half-submerged in the water, she shivered.

Zhong Ze was still in high spirits, but his body quivered once he entered the water.

“Holy shit, sister Yan, it’s so cold!”

Liang Yan clasped her arms together, her teeth chattering. “I know… it’s good you know… let’s strive for one take…”

The crew also knew the hardship of the artists in the water, so as soon as they were in the water, they used the loud speaker to announce the start of shooting.

Liang Yan rehearsed with Zhong Ze on the shore before. Moving her hand forward from her armpits while the other hand pushed the water, she pretended to be a good swimmer.

But it turned out that the real deal — underwater — was very different from practicing on land. Liang Yan was still confident that she could do it when the water was still below her waist, but when the props master lowered her down slowly and the water reached her chest, a sense of suffocation overwhelmed her.

Next to her, Zhong Ze looked worried. Liang Yan forced herself to explode with courage and grabbed him with one hand while stretching her other trembling hand. Even though the icy water didn’t reach her nose and head, Liang Yan gulped water and instinctively struggled. Fortunately, Zhong Ze’s reaction was fast enough, and before the lifeguard could come over with the swimming ring, Zhong Ze fished Liang Yan out of the water.

Although it only happened for a short second, the feeling of suffocation was real, and for those who didn’t know how to swim, it was like a visit to the ghost gate. She grabbed Zhong Ze’s arm as if it was her lifeline while coughing water.

Immediately, the props team pulled Liang Yan up a bit.

The staff rushed to the water’s edge, asking, “Is Liang Yan fine?”

Liang Yan regained her senses. Before the scene started, she even told Zhong Ze to aim for one take, but she didn’t expect that when they officially started, she fell off the chains when they officially started. Liang Yan wiped her face, shook her head and answered, “Yes.”

This scene was only for a few seconds in the drama, but they took an hour to film this successfully. Although Liang Yan was still afraid to go into the water, the props master and Zhong Ze supported her. She was able to pass the scene — barely — and they could only bear the freezing water.

When Liang Yan was pulled out of the water by the wire, she could barely feel her arms and legs like frozen wood. Jiang Mu immediately covered her with a towel, and rushed to the nanny car behind the set to get a change of dry clothes.

After changing clothes, Liang Yan suddenly felt severe abdominal pain. She glanced at her pants and realized that her aunt just arrived. Luckily, her pants were black, so it wasn’t obvious, helping her avoid embarrassment.

On the next day in the “Benevolence” set, Liang Yan was in the recliner curled up while clutching her aching belly.

This morning, the makeup artist styled her with an exquisite peach blossom makeup on whim, and an aqua lip glaze with coral blush. This hid her miserable pale face and lips. At first glance, she looked amazing.

Liang Yan’s nose felt itchy, so she sneezed lightly. Immediately, warmth surged in her lower body.

Liang Yan felt that burst of warmth, so she had to change her sitting position but with difficulty.

Jiang Mu wasn’t working today as some of his relatives came to B city, and he asked for a day off. Liang Yan was embarrassed to let him know that her aunt was here, so now, no one would pour her a glass of water.

She would have a rival scene with Tong Lei today who was playing her mentor. There was no reason for a senior to look for the junior, so she took the initiative to look for Tong Lei to rehearse.

Currently, the stylist was putting makeup on Tong Lei. He glanced at Liang Yan, clearly dragging her body over, but the face still looked good. He frowned and asked, “Is there something wrong?”

“I heard that you and Zhong Ze had a hard time filming the scene in the water yesterday?” Tong Lei asked casually. “This line of work may look glamorous, but only you know the suffering and effort you put in. You, alone, will suffer. Everyone is a businessman in essence, no one will just tolerate others.”

“I know…” Liang Yan’s eyes lowered as she continued, “Teacher Tong Lei, I looked for you because in the afternoon…”

She only said half of her intended speech when Tong Lei’s cell phone rang. He gestured for Liang Yan to be silent and sia,d “I’ll answer the phone first.”

“Yo, how dare you come to visit the set?!” By the side, Liang Yan stood quietly. Then, a few moments later, she heard Tong Lei say this with a smile.

Liang Yan didn’t really care.

“Benevolence” just started filming in B City, so it was a normal occurrence for Tong Lei’s friends to visit the set.

In the afternoon, Lu Lincheng appeared on the set of “Benevolence” with his assistant.

He arrived in a low-key style in a peaked cap and black mask. Most of the staff didn’t even know that he was visiting the set.

The set was shooting when he arrived, and he could hear Tong Lei’s energetic voice from a distance.

The director said, “Cut!”

Then, a female voice followed, apologizing, “I’m so sorry director! Sorry, brother Tong… I’m really sorry.”

“Forget it.” The director stood up from behind the monitor and asked, “What’s wrong with you today? Too tired from yesterday? Not well adjusted yet? Go and get ready again.”

“Thank you, director. I’m really sorry.”

Tong Lei exited from the scene, and saw Lu Lincheng waiting at a glance.

Both of them worked together when Lu Lincheng just entered the Film and television industry. At that time, Tong Lei was already famous. As for Lu Lincheng, he was still an idol with only traffic. He just started filming. At first, he wasn’t optimistic about Lu Lincheng who was an idol. But both his talent and diligence were a great surprise. After the cooperation, they maintained a good relationship.  Later, Lu Lincheng became more and more popular, and they stayed friends. No matter what drama Tong Lei was in, Lu Lincheng would help promote.

Tong Lei laughed, walked toward Lu Lincheng, and his first sentence was, “If not for the water scene yesterday, with today’s performance, I didn’t know how many times she would have been scolded.”

This statement poked at Lu Lincheng, so he looked away slightly.

Not far away, he saw that the “almost scolded person” clutched her belly with one hand while holding the script on the other, frowning and reading the script.

His gaze fell on her belly.

Liang Yan was still mulling over the play when the crew turned lively.

She heard that Tong Lei’s friend came to visit the set, and ordered drinks for everyone.

Everyone received a drink.

The crew happily received the drinks, but when they saw the packaging. “Brown Sugar Ginger Tea (Hot)” was written on it.

Not milk tea?

Who bought this to give people, ah?!

Only Liang Yan was holding the cup contentedly while drinking the hot brown sugar ginger tea.
