Let’s Have Them Sampled

If you are reading from a pirate or aggregator site, please read from the translator’s site: yado-inn (dot) com I have to put the link like this or else the bots will remove it, sorry

There were three types of wine I created.

[Wine (Meroro)]

Classification: Ingredient, Food

Quality: High-Class Product

Details: Fruity wine with well-matured flavors of blackcurrants and plums. Universally acceptable, easy to drink.

[Wine (Peno Loire)]

Classification: Ingredient, Food

Quality: Luxury Product

Details: Aged wine, perfect time to drink. In addition to the violet aroma and raspberries’ scent, it possesses a complex fragrance similar to slightly tanned leather. The sourness will subside if uncorked ahead of time and brought in contact with the atmosphere.

[Wine (Netteolo)]

Classification: Ingredient, Food

Quality: Luxury Product

Details: Aged wine, perfect time to drink. Possesses a deep flavor fit for a king. Conceals a smoothness and strength like velvet, fragrant and refined. The sourness will subside if uncorked ahead of time and brought in contact with the atmosphere.

I showed our butler Sebastian a piece of paper describing the characteristics of the wine and told him that I would like Father and Mother to have a taste of it at dinner.

“Oh ho, wine that was made personally by Ojou-sama!”

Sebastian was the one who is in charge of balancing the alcohol that Father and Mother usually enjoy during mealtime and the food that goes with the alcohol.

“I’m going to present it to His Majesty the King, but before I do so, I promised to let Father and Mother sample it… but, I’ve heard that drinks like these go well with our meals, right? I’ve heard that Sebas is always thinking about these things, so I came to you for advice.”

“I see, I see… Nevertheless, these are interesting. I can imagine that Meroro has a fruity flavor that I am usually familiar with, but… the other two wines are very interesting.”

Sebas stroked his beard while thinking.

“…Let’s see. If the flavor is what Ojou-sama described, then Meroro would be good with pork or strongly seasoned chicken meat. Then, something more simple for Peno Loire… yes, something like chicken or duck would be good. Netteolo seems to have a very robust flavor, so something like a pheasant or deer would be a good match that wouldn’t lose the wine!”

Sebastian was quite roused up, probably imagining the pairings he could make.

“Replenishing our stock will be in the morning, so I will tell the head chef Bob later today. I’ll let Bob, the head chef, know about it today. Then, we’ll have the sampling over three days at nighttime.”

Thus, Sebastian was in high spirits and arranged the sampling.

The First Day

The wine was made from Meroro was served with herb breadcrumb pork as the main dish.

Father and Mother tasted the wine and said, “It’s delicious!” It was very popular.

“Mm, the ones I usually drink have a fruity flavor, but this one is stable and deep making it delicious. It tastes like ripe plums,” Father nodded his head in satisfaction.

“I’d drink this every day! It’s fruity and thick, but I’d never get tired of drinking it!”

Even Mother said that she wanted to drink it every day. (That’s impossible!).

The Second Day

The wine was made from Peno Loire and the main course was duck confit.

…Rather, as “Appraisal” advised, Sebastian opened the bottle early, but at that moment, the dining room was filled with a fragrant flowery aroma that caused a slight disturbance.

“Something smells good, what is it?”

Father and Mother came in.

Then, Sebastian bowed and answered, “When I opened the bottle of wine Ojou-sama made, the aroma seemed to have filled the room.”

When I was invited to come to the dining room, I was also surprised to smell the flowers.

“To think there was a wine with such a fragrant aroma…”

Father and Mother looked at each other in astonishment.

After our meal began, my parents took a sip of the wine and they also highly praised this wine as well.

“It has the fragrance of violets, and raspberries perhaps? It also has a nutty flavor. And I don’t know what it is, but it has a calming fragrance at the end. It’s a very romantic wine and I love it!” Mother gave it high praises.

“Yes, I have the same impressions. It’s sour, and yet it calms me down. It’s a really fragrant wine.”

Father also liked it.

The Third Day

The wine was made from Netteolo paired with sauteed pheasant.

“This is a profound wine. In addition to the rose and tar aroma, I can smell dark cherries and herbs… This is delicious. I like this one the best.”

“I’m not very good with slightly heavy wines like this, but… this one’s easy to drink. I liked yesterday’s wine the best!”

‘I don’t know what wine tastes like (or rather, I can’t drink it), but after seeing how Father and Mother reacted these three days, perhaps it should be fine?’ I thought, but I still asked my parents. “So, would this wine be suitable to be presented to His Majesty?

““Of course!””

I was relieved to receive my parent’s seal of approval.

Then, our butler Sebas sampled the wine to check before serving it to his master.
