Let’s Think About What Kind of Store It Would Be.

If you are reading from a pirate or aggregator site, please read from the translator’s site: yado-inn (dot) com I have to put the link like this or else the bots will remove it, sorry

In order to open a store in this country, you need to register with the Commerce Guild managed by the country. Additionally, you have to be ten years old to be able to register with the guild. I have two years left, so I guess I can take my time. It might be a good idea to greet those at the Commerce Guild as soon as possible.

By the time I open, I will have to have decided what kind of store I want to have, who my target customers will be, what kind of floor plan I need, the size of my farm, and so on. From there, I will figure out what size the property would be preferable.

Once I have decided that much, I will have to look for a place to use as my atelier.

The only thing that’s not a problem is probably my budget… I just calculated my available money and was a bit lost for words. 1

As I was sitting in the living room, writing down various notes, Mina came in.

“This is a new ‘Danish’. Would you like to try sampling this as your afternoon dessert?”

On the small plate that Mina presented to me, there were two small Danishes in a square shape that I could lightly pick up with my thumb and index finger. On top of one of them were boiled apples with custard cream and cinnamon, and on top of the other were peaches in syrup instead of apples.

“Wowww, it’s so pretty!”

I clasped both my hands in front of my chest and marveled at the Danishes.

Beside me, Kate prepared a cup of black tea at the perfect time.

She also left a finger bowl for me.

I picked up the peach Danish with my fingers and bit into half of it. I was touched when the crunchy dough, the thick custard cream, and the simmered peaches with tender sweetness crumbled in my mouth. The dough melted into the thick cream and became one inside my mouth. I took another bite and finished the peach Danish.

“Mmm~! It’s delicious!” I highly praised the sweet Danish.

“I’m so glad! I thought of this and tried making it myself!” Mina broke into a delightful broad smile.

Hm? Did Mina make this?

“Did you roll out the butter yourself?” I asked.

‘That’s impossible for a girl, isn’t it?’ I recalled.

“Ah, as for that, I sliced the butter thinly first. Then, even I could make it!” Mina smiled as she answered.

Hmm, how clever.

Incidentally, Mina’s occupation she received at her baptism is also ‘Cook’. As I thought, I wonder if the suitable occupation from God had an effect on the quality of one’s ideas and the growth of one’s skills. I wonder if it’s the so-called aptitude. In fact, Mina’s cooking skills were highly praised by Bob and Maria.

“Umm, Daisy-sama, have you been thinking about the atelier you’ll be building in the future?”

I wonder if she was curious, but Mina asked a question not suitable for her current position.

“Yes. I still have two years to go, but I want to start thinking about what kind of store it would be. Now that you’re here, do you have any requests you would like to make?”

From the start, I was going to ask Mina about the kitchen area. I thought this was the perfect time to try asking her.

However, the reply I received was out of my expectations.

“Umm, you see, if it were possible… Could you set up a bakery beside the atelier? I wanted other people to be able to try some of the delicious bread created by Daisy-sama! One could buy them and take them home, or hungry adventurers would eat them on the spot… I thought something like that would be a great idea…” Mina twisted her hands around her chin and fiddled with them, describing the dreams she had as she baked.

In this country, bread is basically baked at home by both commoners and nobles. I thought the concept of a ‘Bakery’, which does not exist currently, was interesting.

“A bakery, huh? How novel! Also, I’m sure the bakery would fill the neighborhood with the aroma of freshly baked bread, wouldn’t it?”

The smell of baking bread seemed like it would attract people.

Mina nodded her head in agreement.

“Mina, can you sit next to me for a bit?” I patted the empty space next to me on the sofa I was sitting on.

“Excuse me…” after bowing, Mina sat down on the sofa in a reserved manner.

I started to draw a picture in my notebook.

The atelier building would be on the right. In the atelier, customers would come in through the entrance door and serve over the counter. On the shop assistant’s side, I want a special shelf for storing potions that had anti-degradation effects bestowed on it. Then, a mixing area the size of the current laboratory in the back. I also need a space for managing the money and accounting.

Then, on the left, there would be a small area for eating in the open space. There would be a few chairs and tables where people ate bread. There would be two shelves: one to display samples of bread to take home and the other shelf for putting the actual bread to be sold for health reasons. In this area, Mina will work.

Then, we would need our own living space upstairs.

…The picture itself is not very good, though (boo-hoo-hoo). 2

“Hawawawa! This is amazing!”

However, Mina seemed to be impressed by the picture, and her eyes were sparkling. The tip of her tail went, poof poof, and knocked on the couch.

“Ah!” Mina said, then hurriedly restrained her tail with her hand. She’s so cute like that.

“As far the building is concerned, it will have to be doubled in size. I wonder if it would be convenient to have a big oven in the kitchen to bake bread all at once. Apart from the big oven, I wonder if it would be good to have a small oven for our meals. Uh-huh, the bigger the building, the wider the backyard will be, thus, I would have more space for my farm.”

I asked Mina, who was sitting next to me, “If I decide to build a bakery, you’ll have to learn how to make bread while learning to cook. Can you hold on and do your best?”

“Yes!” Mina replied happily in response to my question.

I am the owner of the store, so I will have to study accounting, won’t I?

‘This is going to be tough,’ I thought to myself as I munched on the remaining apple Danish.
