CH 102

The electric wires in Danlisailles Palace were blown up, the power getting cut off in many rooms, while the tables and chairs in the dark venue got overturned. The injured jewelry models huddled under the booth as a cold blue lizard of average human height was crawling on the ceiling above their heads, flickering with blue light.

Rimbaud left a shallow trail of light wherever he crawled, his fishtail swaying to maintain balance, from every place he passed by came a shriek of fear or exclamation.

After Rimbaud drove Ru Cheng out of the safe exit of Danlisailles Palace, he quickly climbed to the bodyguard beside Lu Shangjin with a string of gemstone jewelry in his mouth and a dazzling array of jewelry bracelets both on his hair and wrists. He shook off the jewelry on his body, looked back at Lu Shangjin, and whispered: “Hood, goon. (Keep it well, get out of here)”

These were exhibits placed in various venues, each of which was worth seven or eight figures. Although the money was nothing to the Feiying Group, if it got lost in the chaos, it would be an extremely painful disaster for the Fantasy World Vogue Company that held the exhibition.

Rimbaud didn’t want to do these chores originally but Bai Chunian asked him to help in every possible way, and it was just a little effort. He also didn’t want to see the hurt in the white kitty’s eyes when he was rejected.

Lu Shangjin vaguely saw the disgust in the eyes of this fish, having a feeling that he was secretly criticizing him again.

Rimbaud was not afraid to look into his eyes at all: “My seniority is more than enough to criticize you.”

Lu Shangjin was firstly surprised that he could speak human words coherently.

He smelled Yan Yi’s scent approaching in the air, his empty blue eyes and pupils folded into a thin line, and facing Lu Shangjin he said in a low voice, “Come with me.”

Yan Yi hurriedly passed the staircase corridor of Danlisailles Palace, followed by his guards, a blue light suddenly flashed in front of him as the blue mermaid quickly climbed up on the column beside him.

Rimbaud clung onto the white stone railing with his claws while his fishtail wrapped around the column, resembling an azure dragon.

“President, please ask your guards to step back, I have something to ask you.”

The captain of the guards pulled out his gun, but Yan Yi raised his hand slightly, motioning them to help the Anti-Explosives Squad to evacuate and protect the guests.

Yan Yi leaned his back against the wall of the statue and turned to face Rimbaud. He was wearing the uniform of the Alliance that he attended the official meeting in. The epaulets tassel dangled over his shoulders. A thin golden chain connected to the Freedom Bird Medal on his chest. He carried a military cap in his hand with his back held taut.

“You’re here too.” Yan Yi greeted him neither humbly nor arrogantly.

“En.” Rimbaud glanced at his fingernails, “I’m here to protect my little guy. I have to follow him at all times so that I can be at ease.”

“However, I will. In my country, all opponents will be suppressed by me.” Rimbaud did not give in at all, “I will take him away. In my place, he will be very safe. Do not stop me.”

“It’s far more dignified to live as one deserves than to hide. The safety you mentioned seems more like an escape to me. I respect him and the existence of his kind. A king who is high above will not understand what it is like to be treated as a mere object.”

“Aren’t you also among those high above?” Rimbaud’s fangs flashed coldly.

“I’ve been lowly before, so I know.” Yan Yi shook his head, “Take him away, I won’t stop you.”

Rimbaud was stunned, and lowered his eyelids in a daze. Bai Chunian’s urging voice came from the communicator in his ears. The Anti-Explosives squad had already brought the situation under control, and he asked Rimbaud to withdraw quickly to join them.

“Hen.” Rimbaud flicked his tail reluctantly, winding away along the column.

After Rimbaud left, Lu Shangjin came over and placed the plush shawl on Yan Yi’s shoulder.

Yan Yi frowned and stared at the direction where Rimbaud left.

“Aquatic animals are really temperamental.” Lu Shangjin said, “Red-Throated Bird failed to get the sunflower explosion catalyst, and there were not many casualties when the bombs detonated. It’s almost all right outside, let’s go back and rest.”

He didn’t ask more about the results of the conversation. From Yan Yi’s tired appearance he knew that it didn’t go too well. Lu Shangjin wrapped his arms around his waist and walked slowly along the path back to the VIP lounge with a dazed Yan Yi.

“He’s right.” Yan Yi held his aching forehead, “The International Prison not only opposed the proposal, but also demanded that all unsupervised experimental subjects be taken in to perform high-risk labor instead of humans, and all maturity and deteriorating subjects should be immediately executed. I don’t know how to explain it to Xiao Bai. When he was young, I told him that every living thing has its own purpose, but once the proposal of the International Prison is passed, a warrant will be issued immediately, and it would be obviously telling him that they should not exist and there’s no point in having him stay with me.”

“I saw Xiao Bai wearing a piece of jewelry on his ear, a fish bone and a piece of ore that flashes like a heart. At least Rimbaud attaches great importance to him, and he won’t be too lonely after he leaves.”

Lu Shangjin stroked his back and wrapped him with a pheromone to comfort him: “You have already done your best. Take it one step at a time, it’s not like it’s completely irreversible. Take a rest for a while, and leave the rest to me.”

“I’m afraid there is no leeway. I asked Xiao Bai to intercept the goods.” Yan Yi sighed, “When he sees those things, he will only be disappointed in mankind. I hope he will leave resolutely and stop risking his life by coming back for something that is a lost cause.”

“You think too much.” Lu Shangjin rubbed his hand lightly, “I took a fancy to him and brought him back because I could see that he was not such a child.”

The Anti-Explosives Squad airborne from the helicopter gunship surrounded the Danlisailles Palace, and the members of the Red-Throated Bird were trapped in it. What was expected to cause a huge explosion did not happen as scheduled; the attack was undoubtedly a failure.

Several people met under the signal tower, Han Xingqian rushed to the location first, Lu Yan and Bi Lanxing followed closely.

Lu Yan kept covering his chest, squatting on the ground uncomfortably, holding the steel beam under the signal tower with one hand, and vomited out a pool of filth when his stomach tightened.

Bi Lanxing squatted beside him, put his arm on Lu Yan’s back and patted him, released a soothing pheromone to relieve his physical discomfort, and gently reached out to help him wipe the dried blood from his cheeks.

Han Xingqian walked over and leaned over to check on Lu Yan’s situation, making sure that he was only stimulated by the bloody scene. Lu Yan was in the main venue that was majorly attacked just now. There were countless people injured by the exploding glass. The snow-white marble floor was covered with dirty blood, and some people were even pierced through by broken glass on the spot. These were all seen by Lu Yan, stunning him into a stupor.

Bai Chunian leaned against the signal tower to wait for Rimbaud, took out a piece of chewing gum from his pocket and handed it to Lu Yan: “It tastes like cantaloupe.”

Lu Yan took it tremblingly, stubbornly arguing: “I just got motion sickness, I’m not afraid at all. ”

Bai Chunian smiled: “That’s good then.”

Rimbaud came late; he climbed over from the high-tension power line hanging in the air. Cushioning himself with an electromagnetic field that buzzed, he landed steadily.

“Where have you been? You took so long.” Bai Chunian supported him by the shoulders to check if he was injured. He found that Rimbaud was in a depressed mood, the tip of his tail that was tied into a bow was waving depressedly.

“What happened?”

“Nothing.” Rimbaud tucked the blond hair from his cheeks behind his ears.

“I feel like you’re upset.” Bai Chunian carried a heavy backpack with ammunition and firearms in his hand. He took out a small cardboard box, inside was a piece of fondant cake from the long banquet table.

“Come on, you should also hold something,” Bai Chunian handed the cake box to Rimbaud. “You look more virtuous like this.”

Rimbaud held the cake box blankly, flattened his mouth, and threw himself at him. Bai Chunian wrapped his arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.

“Ah, have you been wronged?” Bai Chunian patted his back and coaxed warmly.

Xiao Xun leaped over and jumped off the signal tower with the sniper rifle case. When he saw Rimbaud coming back, he secretly used his J1 ability to check Rimbaud’s data.

Overall analysis of life data: 90%,

Remaining physical strength: 94%,

Remaining gland energy: 93%,

Emotional ratio: hesitation 50%, jealousy 46%, guilt 4%.

Food intake: 99.34%

The amount of food intake had increased again. Xiao Xun confusedly compared Rimbaud with the member of Red-Throated Bird he had observed on the signal tower before. It seemed like there were no similarities either, then why did they have this unfamiliar value?

He set the detection target on Lu Yan.

Overall analysis of life data: 76%,

Remaining physical strength: 68%,

Remaining gland energy: 75%,

Emotional ratio: fear 80%, persistence 20%.

There was no food intake. He set the detection target on Dr. Han and Bi Lanxing, but even then there was no such value.

Xiao Xun hesitated and set the detection target on Bai Chunian. He had never tested Bai Chunian before, because Bai Chunian always had a sharp smile as if he was hiding a knife beneath it, and he always felt that once he tried to detect Bai Chunian’s value, he would soon be found out.

Taking advantage of Bai Chunian’s attention on Rimbaud, Xiao Xun boldly checked all of Bai Chunian’s data.

He also didn’t have the food intake. Xiao Xun had just felt relieved when he saw that the last line of data that appeared in his mind was even more unfamiliar—

Grade: 9

What did that mean?

Xiao Xun knew that he couldn’t detect the differentiation grade of others, and the highest differentiation grade was only S4, so it couldn’t represent the differentiation grade.

Xiao Xun’s Adam’s apple moved slightly. When he regained his senses, he suddenly found that Bai Chunian’s eyes were on him. When he raised his eyelids, he met those gentle but piercing eyes.
