CH 21.1

Jian Xingzhi wasn’t good at naming, the name ‘Long Aotian’ was given to him by a female cultivator of Jishan*.

[T/N: Jishan is the name of the palace where Qin Wanwan lived.]

Hearing the name, Qin Wanwan’s reaction was completely different from others. If someone else heard this name, they would kneel down while shivering and calling him Lord. But this Qin Wanwan just asked, “You mean the ‘Heavenly Dragon’, ‘Long Aotian’*?”

[T/N: She meant if his name means Heavenly Dragon, not if he was Heavenly Dragon.]

Long Aotian, this name had no specific meaning, but it makes everyone inexplicably feel that the man who has such a name would be strong, respectable and powerful. This name of Jian Xingzhi had long since spread to the whole Immortal Realm, people in front called him Junzhu of Nanling, and behind people called him Long Aotian.

But he didn’t mind, even though they called him ‘Long Aotian’ to express how powerful and ferocious he was. He even felt proud to be called by such a name.

Now, he decided to use this name in this realm. Not only to hide his identity, but also to remind himself that he was not the male pet that the system told him to be, but someone out of its league. And also that there was an enemy waiting for him to take revenge in the Immortal Realm!

After Qin Wanwan heard this name, she fell into a deep thought.

She suddenly knew why this person didn’t have common sense like others, loves to brag and be able to pretend.

His parents had foresight, they knew what their son was going to be in the future.

But she couldn’t remember anyone named ‘Long Aotian’ in the Immortal Realm. She knew Jian Xingzhi was the strongest cultivator in the Immortal Realm and he was called by a nickname. But she didn’t know what the name was.

But can he really be Jian Xingzhi?

If the soul inside Jian Zhiyan was Jian Xingzhi, then he shouldn’t be aware of the nickname people called him. Even if he did, why would he use such a stupid nickname as his fake name to fool her?

She didn’t like Jian Xingzhi, there were times when she used to admire him because of his achievements. But not after he was the one responsible for her dying. Jian Xingzhi was an arrogant prick. But he had the reason for his arrogance.

She had heard countless rumors about him. People used to say that his heart was harder than his sword, and his sword was harder than his pride.

For example, when he was still in the Cultivation Realm, the elders of a clan that laughed at him for being born with delicate features like a female and asked him to recite a line of poetry. He became so angry with them that he fought hard with the whole clan alone, with only his Golden Core accompanying him, and destroyed the entire clan. (This is a rumor, the male lead did not do such things)

This violent manic had a straight male character. Although he was a violent homicidal maniac and cancer of the immortal society in the eyes of Qin Wanwan, he was still the strongest man in the Immortal Realm. So there were countless men who admired him and women who wanted to warm his bed. Men liked his skill and sword, women liked his face and reputation. He attracted attention whenever he went, so many people scolded him behind his back but would secretly imitate his techniques.

From his manner to Sword Intent to how he dressed, Jian Xingzhi was considered an alternative top figure in the immortal world.

He was such a big-named man. His possibility of coming here with a system was close to none. Even if he did come here by any chance, he would never wear pink clothes, dig tunnels, explode cannon balls, steal her Qiankun bag, think of petty schemes and call her master ……

So it was impossible for him, who was called the Junzhu of Nanling, whose sword was named the Erya*, that had defeated countless enemies, would call himself Long Aotian to fool her.

[T/N: The Erya or Erh-ya is the first surviving Chinese dictionary. Bernhard Karlgren (1931:49) concluded that “the major part of its glosses must reasonably date from the 3rd century BC.” For more innformation, click here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erya]

After excluding all the possibility that ‘Jian Zhiyan’ could be Jian Xingzhi, she began to think who the person could be.

She had lived in seclusion in the Jishan for many years, and had only heard the names of famous figures. Maybe this ‘Long Aotian’ was not someone very powerful. From what she had seen with her formation before, he must be someone with a little higher cultivation than her, only a little.

But since he was a little more powerful than her, she couldn’t get rid of him. She also had the system to nag her, so she might as well cooperate a little.

Qin Wanwan decided to not to speculate of his identity anymore and turned to Jian Xingzhi as she asked, “What about the kitten? Do you know who she is?”

“Yes,” Jian Xingzhi showed a profound expression as he said, “the pixie has already told the puppy that the kitten has transmigrated in a book. So it’s the puppy’s job to help her become an immortal and change her fate.”

So he knows, it’s not a big deal then.

Qin Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief, it was good that he knew about her situation, she wouldn’t need to keep lying now.

She nodded and held her cup towards Jian Xingzhi with tea instead of wine as offering and said, “then hoping Big Brother would take care of the kitten in the future.”

Jian Xingzhi nodded and took the cup from her hand before taking a sip of tea, “Of course. Since the puppy had met the kitten, the puppy would try his best to help the kitten.”

“Thanking Big Brother in advance.” Qin Wanwan thought about something before opening her mouth again, “But may I ask a favour from Big Brother?”

“Go ahead.”

“In the future, if the puppy has any mission to do.” Qin Wanwan gave a pleading look to Jian Xingzhi and said, “can he discuss it with the kitten?”

Jian Xingzhi paused and replied with some difficulty: “That depends on the pixie,” saying this, he also didn’t forget to remind her, “but it can charge.”

If only he wasn’t electrified into an electric dog.

“Understood.” Qin Wanwan nodded her head and said no more.

At this moment, the two reached a point of harmony like never before.

Jian Xingzhi thought something and suddenly said, “Oh, and,” he pulled out a small bronze mirror from his hand and put it on the table before pushing it to Qin Wanwan: “This should be yours.”

“What is this?”

Qin Wanwan picked up the mirror, the bronze mirror instantly darkened when she touched it which perplexed her. Jian Xingzhi, noticing her confusion, took a sip of tea before explaining, “This is Qian Liu’s treasure, the ‘Thousand Disguise’. It was the work of this mirror that helped Qian Liu transform into the appearance of various people at will. With this treasure, you can manifest into the appearance of any person you’ve seen.”

Qin Wanwan nodded and didn’t ask anything, she knew that this was the reward given by the system for completing the mission and so didn’t question farther. But looking at the blackened mirror, she felt that something was wrong.

She raised her hand and recited some incantation, wanting to remove the seal that branded Qian Liu as its master from the surface of the mirror. But even after reciting the incantation several times, nothing changed on the mirror. She turned her head and asked Jian Xingzhi with a frown “Why isn’t it working?”

Jian Xingzhi was also puzzled. He took the mirror in one hand and raised his other hand to touch the surface of the mirror. The moment his hand touched the cool glass, it immediately lit up and slowly brightened up before coming back to its previous exquisite and beautiful appearance.

Qin Wanwan looked at Jian Xingzhi with suspicion and asked, “It seems it has recognized you as its master?”

Jian Xingzhi did not say anything and raised his eyes to look at the task panel in front of him. All the taskbar was full and signed with a ‘check’ mark. Only the task of capturing Qian Liu and killing him was half full, a small taskbar was seen under it which was empty.

The tasks, ‘Helping the supporting female lead to lure Qian Liu’, ‘Help her fight and let her kill him’, all the three had a ‘check’ mark on them. Only the fourth task, ‘Help the supporting female lead obtain the treasure “Thousand Disguise”‘ was unchecked.

He thought back for a second and tried to figure out the reason. He remembered that when he took the mirror away, there was a small wound on his hand which was dripping with blood. It seemed that the blood was consumed by the mirror and he was recognised as its new master.

“Well,” Qin Wanwan didn’t care and nodded in understanding as she said, “It seems only you can use it now. So I hope you can help me change my face in the future.”

The two of them had bombed the Wen Xin Sect after all and although they weren’t seen by many people, it was still bothersome for them to stay with their original appearance and cause trouble.

Jian Xingzhi didn’t reject her, but when his eyes landed on the screen showing his tasks and points, and saw that he only got half the points, he felt a little heartbroken.

The system had said that the points were counted by the main system. The more difficult the task, the higher the points. Once his points bar reached high enough, he could go back to his own world, the Immortal Realm.

But obtaining the points was very hard, he only got 400 so far. How could he fulfill all the tasks and help Qin Wan to ascend as fast as possible?

After thinking for a while, he gritted his teeth, realising that he had no choice but to help Qin Wanwan. He looked at her and assured, “I’ll think of another way.”

Seeing Jian Xingzhi’s determination, Qin Wanwan didn’t say anything and yawned, “Then you can continue to find a solution, I’m going to sleep.”

Jian Xingzhi nodded. Qin Wanwan just got into the bed when the screen hovering in front of her eyes flashed and she saw the task ‘Meditate 1 hour’ flashing wildly.

She took a deep breath, suppressed the pain in her heart, and crossed her legs to meditate.

As soon as she turned to gather the Qi around her Longdan, she saw the Longdan was gone.

But she could still feel Longdan’s breath was still inside her body. She frowned as she asked the system,

“38, where did my Longdan go? Did you do anything?”

“Host, right now, you don’t have enough authority to know its whereabouts” 38 said but after thinking for a while, it told her, “When you get to the Sword Conference, you’ll know what’s going on.”

Qin Wanwan nodded and did not ask more questions.

In fact, without 38 saying, she could probably guess a few points.

In the novel, Su Yueli advanced rapidly and ascended to the Immortal Realm in less than ten years. Qin Wan died before she ascended, so she didn’t know how the female lead ascended. But there was one thing which was very clear in Qin Wan’s memory.

Su Yueli’s destiny of good fortune started once she obtained the Longdan from Qin Wan. After obtaining the Longdan, she advanced fast, and ascended to the Immortal Realm without much hurdle.

As for how she used the Longdan, it seemed she had to wait for the chance to reveal its true strength.

Qin Wanwan stopped thinking and closed her eyes again to start cultivating.

Jian Xingzhi felt the Qi being absorbed by her and looked at her with great relief.

Finally he saw some reward of his hard work and changed the fate of supporting female lead.

The two were busy with their own things and the night passed like this. After the night passed and a new day began, someone knocked at the door. Qin Wanwan opened her eyes and found that Jian Xingzhi was not in the room. She yawned and got out of bed. When she opened the door, she saw a young man holding a wailing stick, standing at the door with a smile on his face.

Qin Wanwan immediately closed the door with a ‘bang!’ as she stared wide eyed at the door. Qian Liu isn’t dead?

The youth at the door stiffened for a moment and hurriedly spoke out: “Guniang, I am the real Bai Suiyou, not Qian Liu with my face.”

Qin Wanwan calmed down as she thought in her heart, she must be seeing things because she just got up from the bed. Scratching her head, she hesitated for a moment before calling out in distress, “Requesting fellow Daoist to wait a moment.”

Saying that, she hurriedly changed her clothes and freshened up a bit before reopening the door.

This time, she looked at the man in front of her and realized that he was indeed Bai Suiyou. He didn’t have any angry or displeased look on his face.

Bai Suiyou nodded respectfully towards Qin Wanwan and greeted her, “Good morning, Miss Li.”

“Bai…… Bai-xiong.”

Qin Wanwan shivered as she called out the name. She didn’t know why, seeing Bai Suiyou’s face in the broad daylight, she felt a little creepy.

“What can I do for you, Bai-xiong?”

“This humble one came to thank Miss Li and Zhang-gongzi for saving me. Yesterday, Miss Li and Zhang-gongzi not only saved me but also others from the clutches of the demon, Qian Liu. So I especially requested Dao Gun* to ready this courtyard for you two. Now I have come here to express my gratitude.”

[T/N: In case you forgot, Xie Lutang is working as the guide of the competition.]

Qin Wanwan observed him in suspicion. That Qian Liu was very clever and talented. He imitated almost all of Bai Suiyou’s behaviour without any fault. But Qian Liu couldn’t imitate him completely, so he was superficial compared to the real Bai Suiyou.

After being assured of his identity, Qin Wanwan sighed in relief.

She relaxed her vigilance and hurriedly waved her hand: “It was our job to help the people. Bai-xiong doesn’t need to be so humble.”

“I hope you get good karma for your kindness in saving me, which can help you in the future.” Saying this, he pulled a string of copper coins tied by red ropes from his waist and handed them to her, “please accept it as my gratitude. These coins may help you in the future.”

“Thank you for your generosity.”

Qin Wanwan hesitated but still took the copper coins. She suddenly remembered something and asked, “Has fellow Daoist Bai eaten? How about we eat together?”

“I have already eaten. Thank you for asking.” Bai Suiyou smiled and said, “I have already strolled around the Tian Chen Sect in the morning. If guniang doesn’t mind, how about I guide the way for you and introduce you to the Tian Chen Sect?”

“That would be great.” Qin Wanwan smiled and agreed. Suddenly she remembered something, “Wait a moment please, I’ll go get a veil.”

The Tian Chen Sect was filled with people, and now that it was the time for the Sword Conference, many people from other sects were also there. In case she met someone who recognised her, Qin Wanwan went back to the room and took the veil before tying it around her face. After checking her appearance in the mirror, she returned to Bai Suiyou who was waiting for her at the door.

“Bai-xiong, let’s go.”

Bai Suiyou nodded and took off with her.

The Tian Chen Sect was the longest-established sect of the three great sects, and has produced many wonderful people. It was a sect full of beauty and legendary figures.

Bai Suiyou took Qin Wanwan to stroll around the sect and showed everything that would be necessary for her stay.

The distance from the guest room to the cafeteria wasn’t far, Qin Wanwan had already memorized it.

When the two entered the cafeteria, Qin Wanwan found that the cafeteria was extremely similar to the university cafeteria in her previous life.

“This is the canteen system opened by Su Qingyi, a former member of the Tian Chen Sect who had already ascended to the Immortal Realm. I will go and collect the meal card for Miss Li.”

Saying that, Bai Suiyou went forward and got a meal card for her from the reception. He returned with the meal card and handed it to her before pointing where she could get her meal. Qin Wanwan took a tray, filled it with food and came back to Bai Suiyou.

After getting her meal, Bai Suiyou led Qin Wanwan to find a place to sit. Qin Wanwan suddenly started missing the time in her college, she felt the scenario was similar to when she used to eat her meals under a tree, looking at other youths in love.

She looked at the chopsticks in her hand and felt her long-lost youth came back.

She was about to say something when she heard a commotion at the entrance of the cafeteria. Qin Wanwan turned around to see, but her breath stopped the moment it landed on the figure.

She saw a young man dressed in a white and blue coloured robes, his hair half pulled back with a white hairband, with a sword behind his back, he entered the cafeteria filled with bitterly cold aura.

He seemed to have just finished his morning practice, so a thin layer of sweat could be seen on his head. His features weren’t outstanding, but with his high cheekbones, smooth and sharp jawline and a cool temperament, he looked like a majestic dragon which made people unable to move their eyes.

As soon as he entered the cafeteria, the crowd stared at him. They were stunned by his majestic appearance, while Qin Wanwan was turned into a terracotta from shock.

Because the face, the eyes, nose and mouth, with a frown forever etched on his face, and that arrogant temperament, he looked like no one but Jian Xingzhi!

Especially his aura and the way he looked at people, it was exactly the same ah.

Qin Wanwan couldn’t help but wonder, did Jian Xingzhi leave any psychological shadow on her? If not, why did she think someone looked just like him?

The young man standing at the door finally noticed Qin Wanwan’s prolonged gaze and raised his eyebrows. He received his meal card, took his meal, and turned his cold eyes to look at Qin Wanwan.

Qin Wanwan immediately turned back, Bai Suiyou also noticed Jian Xingzhi looking their way and asked with curiosity, “Does Miss Li know this person?”

“I don’t know.” She shook her head and replied.
