Chapter 22 - Hungry Bird!

His husky voice was very much soothing to her ears. She doesn't know which feelings are these. Her shivering did stop because of his tender voice. It was s simple magic which he keeps on doing at her from time to time. It was really unrealistic in her view yet seemed to work every time.

"What… am I doing?" She repeated the same words, indicating that she didn't understand what he meant by them?

A frown settled on her forehead yet, Jennifer didn't leave his body for a second. While Jennifer was trying to find comfort, Javier was finding it already difficult to control the inner urges.

"I mean...by pulling me closer." his voice turned hoarse. The heat between the two bodies was very much evident. He doesn't know why but something was disturbing him at this point a lot. How to control it? It seemed out of his hands already.

"I...I was trying to seek warmness." saying this, Jennifer pulled herself back from the space and looked at Javier with her bright eyes. There was a bitter smile curved on her face yet, in his eyes it was beautiful.

"It's alright. We all miss our family. You are lucky that your family cares for you and you have a normal environment to live in." It was a small message but Jennifer knew that it held deeper meanings.

His all words aren't of context but still, Jennifer kept mum on this topic. It was something really sensitive and how can she forget that even Ellen asked her to keep the things that they both shared in between them.

Especially when she was told that Javier doesn't like to talk about his family, as much as the other normal people.

When she was staring at him, he had a small smirk, Javier mentioned what he meant by earlier words, "A girl shouldn't touch the man too closely. Don't you know that you are unmarried and still..his fiance?"

"As if you care? I told you the same thing and here we are, living under one roof!" hitting him on his shoulder with small hands, she made a pout and acted to be angry with him.

"I was the one who said that one boy and girl shouldn't stay under one roof without any marriage but you still stayed with me. Stop complaining as if you were not happy with my hug! Hmgh!'' Her cute reaction pulled flowers in Javier's heart.

The reason behind his reactions was unique and unknown but the smile on her face also brings a small smile to his face. The signs were very much unusual but he doesn't want to be exposed. Hopefully, Jennifer never took care of the small things and the minor change in his behavior ever.

At the time when Javier realized that Jenifer was now still feeling better, he asked her, "Shall we go up now? You must be hungry after such a long trail walk as well."

Narrowing her eyes, a suspicious glint passed through her eyes, "Will you make something for me to eat now?"

"Obviously. Who else would make food in an empty house except for both of us?"

That was also true and Jennifer's smile reached her ears, which made Javier's heart skip a beat at that moment. The smile lingering on her face seems to distract him from his work and just when he was going to pull himself back to reality, Jenifer pulled his hand and dragged him upstairs to the kitchen so that he could make her food.

'Just a hungry bird! So true that her heart's entrance is through her stomach..'

When Jennifer and Javier were opening up to each other, and developing a unique connection, the situation in Lucas's states was entirely different.

Nothing was working in his favor. All of his family members were bickering and pestering him to find the girl as soon as possible. He thought it would be the easiest task, after all, the kidnapper won't be that expert, right?

Unfortunately, everything slipped out of his hands and now, he isn't able to find the person at all. It looks like the same person vanished into the thin air with Jennifer.

There was a knock on his cabin's door when he averted his gaze from his screen to the door. "What are you doing here?"

"Just came to remind you that you have a meeting with officials in the next five minutes. You won't wish to be late for this important meet." Olivia was standing like a proper official secretary.

Wearing a knee-length tight skirt, with a white shirt tugged inside the shirt, she looked the perfect assistant.

All Lucas did was stare at her figure with his fierce gaze and stood up from his seat. He walked near the window to look outside, on a sunny day and Olivia immediately understood his action.

She went inside the cabin to pick his lavish coat from the armchair and helped him to put it on.

She still remembered how ruthlessly he asked her to not appear in front of him until she found something related to Jennifer. How much she wanted to act like one but there is always work.

His words were like a deep knife cutting through her heart. To make sure that she keeps her self-respect at peak as well, Olivia decided to not interact with him much, the better to keep her distance.

His all work is single-handed by her hands and there is no way she can not appear in front of his eyes. Still, there was a way to not disturb him anymore with her words "Done. You can proceed to the meeting now."

Lucas looked at the cold look that Olivia gave him. For him, her aloofness was a nuisance. In his eyes, there was no need for such drama in his life but skipping it all, he ordered her, "You are supposed to come with me there."
