Chapter 140 - Date Of Engagement

Javier's face lost its color when he heard that.

Not in any mood to reply, he lowered his face and concentrated on eating although his mind was constantly going against thousands of thoughts.

But Charles understood the grave situation and deep emotions that Javier might be undergoing.

Facing hai father, he spoke with utmost determination. "You are doing wrong.. you know that right?"

"What am I doing wrong? Emily is his fiance and he is fighting with us for that mere girl." Emily, who was currently eating her food without saying a signal word, felt satisfied when the elders of the family took her support.

With a tender voice, she replied once again, "Uncle.. it's... alright... Javier must be just playing with her.. he isn't like that at all."

Shawn's strict eyes averted them in Emily's direction to see her almost crying and tears eyes. "Ooh, child, you are so innocent to say that. Look, Javier…" pointing towards her, Shawn pointed out to Javier, "Do you see? Even now her heart beats for you!"

"So why not you marry her if you think she is so good for the family and business? You have married Shirley after leaving my mom then why don't you do the same thing once again? Leave Shirley and marry her simple as that!"

Javier's patience level was already up. He was trying to maintain calm despite the constant taunts which were thrown in his direction.

Everyone was present in the hall, was taken aback by his statement about Shawn. Moreover, Shirley suddenly choked her own food when she heard his comment. 

They hadn't expected Javier to ask Shawn to marry Emily when she is almost as young as his own child!

"Javier!" Shirley yelled his name in the loudest voice but Javier didn't seem angry at all.

He was in his cool model just making things difficult for everyone else. Neither did he spare anyone, which his eyes glowed with anger.

"What? Did you feel bad? Now you understand how my mother would have felt when you had seduced my father earlier? You feel angry just when I spouted those words but you did exactly the same thing..." The truth from Javier's mouth was sour but it was exactly the thing that happened in the past.

There was a triangle between his parents and her resulting in damage and in the end, she used her whore techniques to win Shawn.

The color of her face changed drastically. Gulping down the saliva in her mouth, it was hard to accept her related past, which came like a slap on her face.

Neither was Shirley, nor Shawn was execting Javier to be so brutal with his words for them. "Javier! Mind your words before speaking anything for me!"

"Mind my words?" A scoff left his mouth when he heard he heard her words. A cruel and sarcastic voice was hard when he once again answered back, "You are of no use. Since you are too old for my father… Dad, why don't you bring a new mistress now?"

"Javier..just.." this time, Charles interrupted in the middle.

The entire situation was slipping out of their hands. He passed Javier a look, to stop telling any nonsense.

Seeing his brother's action, Javier's lips were formed into a straight line and his eye slightly narrowed.

Using the same opportunity, to ease the environment around, Amaira asked her mother for more food which shifted their attention towards Amaira.

"Oh, I didn't tell you guys that I have scored the second rank in my entire class in the maths test..."

"That is so good to hear Amaira! Well done!" Charles appreciated her with his cheerful words and patted her back in applause.

Amaira thanked him and looked at her mother, looking forward to hearing something from her mouth but unfortunately, she said nothing with regard to this.

Simply chewing her food, it seems that she doesn't even care how and what she just spoke.

But seeing the sadness in her eye, Shawn did say, "You did well. Try to bring the first rank top in the class some other time.." 

"For sure father.." At last, her father also appreciated her but her mother... looked too distant to say anything to her.

In the end, she hopes to hear anything anymore she started in the middle as her mother did nothing but only to degrade her confidence. 

"You were able to only second place? Shawn, you know my friend's daughter has the first place and her mother was so proud that she scored such good marks! Here what am I supposed to tell others that my daughter has come second! Gosh, don't tell me your marks until you have a good result to show!" 

This statement, not only made things awkward but others felt fury too.

She has been too much. Javier, who was eating his food quietly without entering the matters of the family, thought, 'Getting a mother like you is a total disaster... Amaira is such an unlucky person to have you to as her parents..' 

At last, he had his mother nice, who isn't there anymore in this world... and a scum father who is too busy in his extramarital affair to care when the time was there to ask his children of the result.

After a long time, he accepted his family and will have to work on his own for everything..except his brother. 

Recalling the old thought was hard but he somehow managed to chew his food with calmness.

Looking at her sad eyes, Emily was feeling depressed as well. She wanted to say something but no words came since everyone looked so distant.

As if anyone will say, he will simply roar at them. 

But Shawn disregards everything, even Shirley's comment since it made no sense to him.

It was useless to think about the princess of the Johnsons, with whom she isn't on good terms either, rather than thinking about her business which is much more important to her. 

"Emily's parents are asking me to decide on a date for the engagement very soon. I guess….Engagement can be held in the next few weeks. What do you think, Charles?"
