Chapter 243 - Engagement Day! (1)

"Are you sure you wish to be a part of this Jennifer? You know that there is no compulsion for you to attend.."Hannah asked worriedly when she looked at Jennifer, getting ready.

It was already the night when the party started downstairs. All the guests have started to show their appearances, so did the Dakotas and Johnsons. Just the presence of the bride and the groom is awaited now.

"I'm always fine. Why are you making such stress on Hannah?" Jennifer asked who took the foundation from the dressing table and applied it to her face. "Everything will be fine and will work how I want it to be."

"B.."

"No ifs and buts in this." Turning around, she stared at Hannah who was sitting on the bed with her anxiousness, "Trust me on this. If I do things that I will go, then I do have measured everything already."

Hannah literally saw the determination Jenifer carried tonight with herself. It was as if she was seeing some other Jennifer, not her friend anymore. Yet all she was afraid was of that anger of hers.

'I just hope that you will be able to keep your emotions under control and not create any dramatic scenes.' Although, it was her right to do so since her husband was being snatched from her.

But… that was how Jennifer is. She would rather give up on things rather than vetting and being played. "So, what are your thoughts about this?"

At this question, Jennifer turned around when she stared at her reflection in the mirror itself. The smile was deadly, "I know what I'm doing. Just wait and watch.."

Just the voice was enough to make Hannah feel goosebumps on one skin but then there was a knock on the door and the person was Charles. "Umm.. Ms. Taylor the event has started. You are requested to please join us."

Hearing Charles's polite tone, Jennifer kept her makeup down and passed him a warm smile. In return, she responded, "Sure. We will be down in a minute."

Charles was already used to the level of calmness but this seems foreign to him, "As per your wish. and.. Please, be ready  mentally as you know what you will be seeing tonight."

These were his last words before he left them alone. Nevertheless, to say, Jennifer was calm as the bird and in return Jennifer gave her best friend a smile, telling her that everything will go smoothly.

Both of them walked out of their room and entered the corridor when they noted how the beautiful decorations looked like.. It wasn't hard to say that everything was top-notch.

"They have used and spread all the money they have," Hannah whispered in Jennifer's ears but all she did was stay quiet throughout the corridor.

As they both were walking down the stairs, many eyes fell on the lady in the red as she wore a tight one-piece, a body-hugging one. Showing her curves perfectly, it looked as if it was made only for her.

On descending the stairs they entered the main hall when they stole many glances from the people in the event. All of them were quite shocked to see a lady like her comfortably living in Johnson's mansion?

But she didn't notice anyone. Rather, she walked directly towards Austin who sat at the mini bar, with the liquor in his hand

Stepping close to him she kept her hand on his shoulder affectionately, "Looks like you are enjoying yourself. Are you planning to drown in the alcohol tonight?"

The voice got his attention when he looked at her from top to bottom, with a mocking smile spreading across, "Seems like Mrs. Johndon is here, witnessing her husband getting married to someone else.."

"Just engaged. It is not a direct wedding.'' She replied before she took the glass of tequila that the bartender prepared. Gulping it down in one go, she could feel her nerves relaxing.

A sensation traveled down her entire body, making her shake her head.

"You know when people drink?" Both of them kept mum, and seeing this, Jennifer smiled when she replied herself, "When either person is stressed, or broken."

On hearing this, his lips curved upwards and he took a sip from his glass, to say, "And you are both."

"Indeed." Jennifer didn't deny either as she knew that this time will never come back ever again in her life.

Going through this pain also needs the next level of patience to hold herself tonight. Otherwise, neither was she so forgiving nor someone who can forget.

Turning head towards his direction, she spotted herself standing too near his body, almost an inch away from his face and lips…

"You know why you are drinking?" Jennifer's eyes knitted together when Austin shook his head, curious to know, "Because you are also getting hyped and sad on seeing the person you love is already married and is enduring so much pain.."

With tearing her gaze away for any mere second, she drank the glass of drink to her fullest, surprising both Austin and Hannah who gave each other a look.

She literally drank in one go, and knowing this is harmful, they were going to open their mouth to revoke when they heard her voice, "I want more…."

"Jennifer! You have all night! Stop at least now." Hannah shouted at the top of her lungs, but enough slow to be heard by the two of them. However, it all went to waste, since Jennifer wasn't willing to hear anything out, especially at this point.

Jennifer wanted to revoke when Hannah snatched the glass of drink from her hand but then, all of her attention was attracted to the other side when the host announced.

"Our Groom and Bride are here! Please welcome, a couple of tonight, Mr. Javier Johnsons and Mrs. Johnson's Emily Dakota."
