Chapter 285 - Vacation!!

The evening came very soon when Jennifer and Javier returned from the place they visited. Emily already left, since she had many things to consider in her mind.

Today's dinner was supposed to be on the dining table since most of the people were free tonight.

Descending the stairs, Javier and Jennifer stepped into the living room to find the rest of the members there. 

Seeing them, Charles stood on his toes before he made his way into their direction.

"Javier.." calling his name, he took a pause and then continued. "I need to talk with you regarding something major."

Nodding his head, Javier attentively listened but Charles didn't say anything. Rather his eyes shifted to see Jennifer beside him. "Mind if we speak.. alone?"

Sensing her presence was creating a bit of discomfort for them, Jennifer was ready to walk to the other side but Javier stopped her via his hand.

Averting his gaze towards his brother, he spoke, "Let us have dinner first, and afterward, we both can have a walk in the garden.."

"That would be great then." Charles agreed on the same as the trio walked towards the dining table where the food was being served.

Sitting on their respective seats, there was just silence in the air as none started any conversation.

Neither Javier, nor Charles, nor Shawn included themselves in any kind of talks related to the business.

But Jennifer felt this quietness to be the silence before the heavy storm around them. 'I hope nothing goes like that..' only if her wish would come true.

Amid dinner, Shawn was cutting the steak when he opened his kitchen. "Javier, I wish to have a word with you."

"I'm listening to it," Javier answered with the calmest voice, not minding much.

"Well…" Shawn took a pause and After chewing his food, he continued, "Mr. And Mrs. Folks are organizing the ball. Since they have been our close friends, one of us must visit them as the Johnson." 

This comment made Javier frown. Why was his father even talking about such an event with him? It made no sense to him yet he wanted to hear.

"Since I and Shirley are busy the day after tomorrow, I wish you and Emily to make an appearance there. You are new and should spend some time together." 

"COUGH! COUGH!" Javier felt his food being stuck in his food pipe. Jennifer took the nearby glass of water and patted his back while making him drink it. "Easy…" 

Javier gulped the water entirely and nodded his head, making her show that he is fine. But what she didn't see was the cold mist that appeared in Shawn's eyes after witnessing her sweet actions towards his son.

Meanwhile, Shirley behaved as if she didn't care about the scene in front of her. But her heart smirked at the intention of bringing Emily and  Javier together.

The thought of kicking Jennifer out of her house was highest at peak since the lady was sour to her eyes.

"Yes! Emily and Javier should actually spend some time alone… their personal space shouldn't be disturbed because of any.." her eyes retarded in the direction of Jennifer.

"...because of any third person. Right honey?" She averted her sweet lingering smile back on Shawn who vigorously supports her in this.

"That is my intent as well. You both should grow close and as childhood friends, both of you should once again recall all of your past and beautiful memories." Shawn's every word was a thick knife on Jennifer's heart.

'Recall old romance? What will they recall when there's nothing?' She found it totally ridiculous.  A true false statement being promoted no matter what.

In her eyes, this was nothing but a forced arrangement between the two individuals which wasn't liked by either.

Yet before she could eye Javier, he interrupted everyone. "We had a talk related to this. Emily and I are engaged but only about the entanglement about this is about families.."

"But I never felt these kinds of things towards her at all. I and Emily got engaged but aren't married and none of us should forget this…" Javier put forward his step to clarify but it seems it didn't interest anyone.

In return, Shawn shook his head. "No, you both are also involved in this. I want you to live your life.. as a happily married couple." Only if he could have agreed even more..

Javier stared at the lady who was constantly spouting nonsense, "I don't want any advice from a lady like you to come and step in my life so stay out.."

Jennifer's eyes were entirely focused on the food of hers, as she used the cutlery to eat her piece of share. Yet it was already alarming for her to learn they were sending Javier.

'Why is he talking with these two? Nor did he just deny that?' At this point, how much she desires to open their marriage secret. 

"FURTHER… Emily and I do not love each other. My heart lies somewhere else and I don't want you won't.. interfere with any arrangements." Javier was finished saying his words, keeping his side loud and clear.

But Shawn wasn't satisfied either. "I don't care about what. Your engagement with that girl and get her into this house as my daughter-in-law is as simple as that!"

If only this was that simple as they made it to be. But the next words of Shirley made Jennifer's heart alert even more.

"Honey.." Shirley stared at her dear husband when she gained his attention. She kept her hands over his palms.

"Why don't we send both Javier and Emily on a vacation? Won't that be a good idea? They can have some time… in one room.. you know what I mean!"

THUD!
