Chapter 126 - 126 Illness

126 Illness

“That’s right. It’s a pity that you two are not meant to be together.” He Wei pursed her lips and smiled. She looked at He Miao with the love of an older sister. “I wonder what kind of outstanding person you’ll marry in the future.”

Hearing this, Jing Yan felt uncomfortable. He knew that He Miao did not like him, and He Wei’s words were like a knife to his heart. His expression grew colder. “You’ve been coming to my house a lot recently.”

He Wei was stunned by his words and her mouth twitched in embarrassment. “I’m worried about Grandpa Jing’s health. Besides, I’m usually busy with work and don’t have time to visit my sister, so I came here to try my luck.”

“Jing Yan.” Old Master Jing put down his teacup slowly and interrupted, “She’s a guest. We should welcome her since she’s willing to come and see me.”

He Wei did not expect Old Master Jing to help her out. She nodded and said sweetly, “As long as Grandpa Jing welcomes me, I’ll come to see you often.”

“Then why don’t you accompany me to the study and play chess?” Old Master Jing turned to look at her with a smile on his face, waiting for her reaction.

Sure enough, He Wei glanced at Jing Yan first. She bit her lower lip and asked tentatively, “Jing Yan, are you going to play chess with Grandpa?”

“He doesn’t need to go.” Old Master Jing waved his hand dismissively. this child has never liked to play chess. You can accompany me. Let Jing Yan stay with He Yan.

Old master Jing’s intention could not have been more obvious. He thought that He Wei’s presence here would affect the relationship between his designated granddaughter-in-law and Jing Yan, so he thought of this reason to distract her.

He seemed to be welcoming to He Wei, but he was actually biased towards He Miao.

There was a flash of anger in He Wei’s eyes, but when she saw the half-smile on Grandpa Jing’s face, she suppressed her anger and put on a fake smile as she accompanied Grandpa Jing into the study.

Seeing this, the butler also left with the servants, leaving Jing Yan and He Miao in the living room.

Jing Yan was very satisfied with the current situation. Although his grandfather was dissatisfied with his previous dislike for He Miao, he was still his grandfather’s grandson, after all, and his grandfather would still help him when the time came.

He took He Miao’s hand and led her to the kitchen. He did not care even if He Miao pushed his hand away halfway.

Jing Yan’s eyes curved into crescents as he warmed a glass of milk for her. “I don’t know why you like milk so much, but I’ll always keep some for you at home.”

“Thank you,” she said. He Miao took the milk and her heart began to stir.

Although the system that she had brought with her could make her more beautiful easily, it would also increase her desire for milk.

This was also why she could not stop drinking milk even though she noticed that she had changed too drastically.

Jing Yan could not help but laugh when he saw her drinking the milk in a carefree manner. “Since you like it so much, why don’t we go to the ranch next weekend to get fresh milk?”

When He Miao heard the word “milk,” her eyes sparkled, and her brain lost its ability to react. All she could do was nod blindly in agreement.

It was as if she could already see the waves made of milk falling from the sky, exuding a strong milky fragrance and about to engulf her.

Jing Yan took her hand with a smile and hooked her with his pinky. “Then we’ve made a promise. You’re mine next weekend.”

“What are you doing?” He Wei was shocked to see Jing Yan’s completely different appearance. She coughed dryly and interrupted him uneasily, “I’m leaving first. Little Sister, do you want to go home with me?”

Only then did He Miao wake up from the temptation of the overflowing milk. She hurriedly pulled back her finger that was still intertwined with Jing Yan’s and shook her head with a red face. “I’m not going back. You can go first.”

He Wei was very unhappy to see Jing Yan and He Miao spending time alone together. However, her manager had called her urgently and asked her to go back. She had no reason to refuse the job, so she could only drive away reluctantly.

In the afternoon, Jing Yan took He Miao to the theater room to watch a movie. After dinner, he drove off with He Miao.

Old Master Jing watched them leave side by side, hoping that the two children could really be together, but he was afraid that he would not have the time to see that day.

As he watched Jing Yan’s car drive away, the old man suddenly could not help but bend down and hold his throbbing heart.

The butler immediately ran over to help him up. He did not have to hide from Jing Yan and He Miao anymore, so he immediately ordered someone to call the private doctor to treat him.

The Jing family was busy all the way until late at night before the old man’s condition finally stabilized. The doctor shook his head and said, “In your current condition, you shouldn’t be taking on such a heavy responsibility. I think Young Master Jing is very capable. You can totally pass the heavy responsibility to him.”

Old Master Jing and the doctor had been friends for more than ten years, so he did not hold back when talking to him. He said in a weak voice, “Jing Yan has more important things to do now. I can’t stop him from doing his own thing. I can still hold on. Don’t let him know.”
