CH 16.1

The area they were brought to wasn’t a pre-built bungalow area, instead it was plots of bungalow land with self-built houses. The scenery was beautiful, and the air was clean. There weren’t many shortcomings towards buying this house if its distance from town wasn’t considered. Since this was a posh area filled with wealthy families, they traveled around by car with drivers instead of walking. Thus, on the flip side, the distance from the area to the city center is actually a plus point because that meant that the population density is lower than usual. This way, the area would be less noisy and more serene.

Guo Weikang parked the car and laughingly said, “It is in October now, you guys didn’t visit at the best timing. If you were to visit two months later, you’ll be able to see a forest of maple trees. I heard that it’ll be super pretty.”

Luo Shuyan and Shen Yan got out of the car. This was the first time any of them visited such a place and they couldn’t control their curiosity as they looked around the place.

Luo Shuyan found the area beautiful. It was surrounded by mountains and had streams flowing. When they arrived yesterday afternoon, the weather had been quite hot, and she could feel the difference between this area and the city center.

Uncle Guo is one rich man! He can afford to buy a bungalow in an area like this!

Guo Weikang held the keys in his hands and took them around a bamboo forest and to the entrance of the bungalow.

Luo Shuyan raised her head and saw the beautiful bungalow. ‘This is like a castle from a children’s fantasy story…’

The bungalow was surrounded by safety tape. They walked into the compound and were first met with a small garden. The owner had planted different types of flowers in the garden, and even placed a small coffee table for afternoon tea. He had even placed Luo Shuyan’s favorite swing in the garden. She wanted to go try it out, but she was worried that she would seem impolite and uncultured. Thus, she resisted the urge to do so, and merely took glances at the swing.

Shen Yan, who was walking behind her, also followed her gaze that was directed at the swing. He couldn’t help but shake his head.

“There is a wine cell down this way. If you don’t have an interest in that, you can turn it into a storeroom.” Guo Weikang pointed at the cell and said, “You can also enter through a door in the house. Let’s try going in from here.”

Shen Yan noticed that Guo Weikang had held the door open for them and waited for each of them to enter before he closed the door and followed suit.

Guo Weikang noticed Shen Yan who was staring at him with furrowed brows. It was actually very cute when young children displayed such a serious expression. He laughed and said, “Little one, why are you looking at your uncle like this? Is uncle handsome?”

“…”

He shook his head. He merely found the uncle to be weird.

Guo Weikang laughed out loud. “Ah, I’m hurt.”

He proceeded to walk forward and introduce the layout and furniture of the house to Luo Tianyuan. “We have a living room, dining area, and kitchen on the first floor. There is also a room for the elderly on this floor. It is very dangerous for elderly to climb up and down after all.”

Luo Tianyuan nodded.

“You can renovate the elderly’s room into a guest room. I’m sure you’ve noticed from the outside that there is a huge balcony on the second floor. The children’s room and master bedroom have their individual balconies, which would provide sufficient natural light and a cooling breeze. The only room that doesn’t have its own balcony is the study room. The two bedrooms have individual bathrooms too. Oh, and the room next to the master bedroom used to be a storage room, but the owner’s wife changed it into a walk-in closet connected to the master bedroom…”

Luo Tianyuan understood.

He was very pleased with this house. However, it was a pity that after he bought it, he had no plans of living in it for the next few years.

Jing City was different from Ning City. These days, factories were employing many people and there was a booming number of privately owned companies. Back then, companies used to provide housing for their staff. However, it was different these days. University graduates needed to rent to be able to work in Jing City and have better living conditions.

However, not many people could actually afford to rent a bungalow, could they?

At first, he had planned to buy two apartments with two to three rooms in a posh area. However, after having a look at this bungalow, he wasn’t sure anymore.

Guo Weikang knew that Luo Tianyuan loved his daughter more than his life. He was buying a property for his daughter, and not for himself. He looked around and said, “My niece, what do you think about this house?”

Luo Shuyan hadn’t expected this man to ask for her opinion when buying a house. After all, she was only a young girl. On the other hand, perhaps this was a method of showing off?

She knew what he was trying to do; Guo Weikang was very pleased with the house, if not, why would he be singing praises about it.

“It’s great, I’ve never even seen such an amazing house on TV. This house is beautiful!”

It was so beautiful that even a six year old kid like her wanted to “hate the rich”.

It was absolutely amazing to be rich!!

Guo Weikang happily looked at Luo Tianyuan, as if he were saying, ‘Look, your precious daughter likes the house.’

Luo Tianyuan didn’t know what to do. He had a very easy going personality, and since he had planned to buy a house for his daughter anyway, he figured that since he already prepared the money for his daughter, why should he even care about the measly rental income.

This was a good house, and he was sure that his daughter would enjoy her time here when she was studying in Jing City.

The most important fact was that his daughter liked it.

Luo Tianyuan knew that his daughter was unaware that he intended to buy the house for her. Thus, he figured that this was her most genuine reaction.

At this, Luo Tianyuan indiscreetly nodded in Guo Weikang’s direction.

Guo Weikang enthusiastically exclaimed “YES” in a small voice.

He wouldn’t be getting any middleman fees, and his only reason for doing this was to pursue the owner’s cousin sister. Yet, he wasn’t someone who prioritized women over friends. If the house weren’t as good as he had described, he wouldn’t have convinced Luo Tianyuan to buy it. After all, brotherhood was more important.
