CH 27.2

The two messed around for the most part of the month.

Lorren couldn’t watch on for any longer. He dragged Xie Jianwei out by the collar and said: “And you still insist that you don’t have any issues with your brain. What are you doing, stuffing yourself inside that room all day with that erectile dysfunctional guy?”

How could Xie Jianwei possibly be unembarrassed to admit that he’d almost been X’ed to death by said erectile dysfunctional guy?

“No, nothing, I’m just keeping him company.”

Actually, even if he said what he was really doing, Lorren wouldn’t have believed it. He was actually anxious about another matter.

“Humans are sly. They like to make a fuss about being on the side of love and whatnot, not to mention you’re an exotic flower from the bloodclan. It’d be easy for him to trick you!”

He was convinced that the two people had stuffed themselves in that room all day for the sake of being tediously love-dovey with each other.

Xie Jianwei felt quite wrongfully accused.

Lorren said: “These past few days, I went and did a check on his identity… I’m telling you, it’s rather suspicious.”

Military Strategist Xie had been indulging in ‘healing’, and hadn’t, in fact, had time to investigate this stuff yet. Hearing that Lorren had done the investigation, he focused his attention and asked: “What’s wrong?”

Lorren said: “He is indeed quite pitiful. Due to his appearance, he’d always been treated like a bloodclan and rejected amongst the humans, and also, because he’s had health problems, he’d suffered endless abuse.”

Xie Jianwei’s gaze sunk.

Lorren said: “You don’t need to feel distressed for him. Listen to what I have to say first.”

He continued again: “His body isn’t healthy, right? But he can make his way safely out of danger every single time. Amongst the humans, there are quite a number of black-hearted people, and the deaths caused by their extreme methods aren’t small in number/few. Your little erectile dysfunction guy has a weak body and a gloomy personality, and when he gets bullied, he doesn’t defend himself either, there were so many times when he could’ve been directly beaten to death, but miraculously, he’d lived through it.”

Xie Jianwei’s heart was thrumming with pain as he listened.

Lorren said: “Coincidence, was the conclusion I got from my investigations; coincidences such as being saved by someone just in time, or that the place coincidentally had herbs for healing wounds… One coincidence is fine, but it’s very strange for coincidences to happen time and time again.”

Xie Jianwei was wondering whether or not it was ‘the will of God’ making mischief, but in the next moment, he thought that it shouldn’t be.

Every time Lu Li subverted the dreamscape, it was for him.

Because Lu Li was himself situated within the dreamscape, he very much followed the logic of it. As one immersed in the situation, he was in a state of complete cluelessness.

What was the reason then? Could it be that there was some other underlying factor?

Lorren said again: “We can, with great difficulty, label it as coincidence, but there’s something even stranger.”

Xie Jianwei looked at him, asking: “What?”

Lorren said: “He seems to have jumped out of thin air.”

Xie Jianwei frowned, asking: ‘Perhaps his family had died early?”

“It isn’t as simple as being orphaned. He didn’t have a childhood at all.”

Xie Jianwei’s expression grew solemn.

Lorren said: “I couldn’t find anything to do with him before he had come of age.”

“You know, too, that humans have very short lifespans, that a hundred years is the limit, and from his looks, he’s about twenty-something at most, so he’s only lived for so long. But the strange thing is, in the past sixteen years, there’s no mark of his existence at all, as if he had appeared from nothing, and then had walked towards adulthood.”

Xie Jianwei sunk into deep thought.

Lorren put out his own thoughts: “Humans are, from their heads to their tails, social organisms. It’d be impossible for him to have survived on his own, and so young at that, so there shouldn’t be no sign of his existence.”

Xie Jianwei nodded: “En, there indeed shouldn’t be.”

Lorren looked at him, sighing: “Don’t get angry at me for saying this, but it really is possible that your little erectile dysfunctional guy was intentionally sent to you by someone.”

“There are very few people who know His Majesty’s visage and name, but regardless of their numbers, these people still exist. If I hadn’t investigated these details, I would’ve treated it as a coincidence, but now that I’ve checked, there are too many points of suspicion – there’s no way I can disregard it.”

Xie Jianwei said: “Okay. I have a grasp of the situation now.”

Lorren said: “Don’t be stupid no matter what. The lesson learnt from a century ago is still fresh.”

Xie Jiawnei didn’t actually know just what went down a hundred years ago, but he had no way of asking, so he could only pretend to understand: “I know.”

Lorren was still quite trusting of him. He knew that he wasn’t someone who couldn’t see the difference between good and bad, so as long as he gave sufficient reminders, Xie Jianwei mostly wouldn’t fall into any traps.

In order to settle down Lorren, Xie Jianwei didn’t hole up in the house today, but went to the council room and busied about there all day.

Actually, the higher-ups of the blood clan were quite carefree. To begin with, their species were very few in number, and each one was only concerned with eating, fucking, and sleeping, it was unexpectedly reassuring..

To Xie Jianwei, the level of work that the bloodclan leader had to deal with probably couldn’t even amount to that of a village elder…

Military Strategist Xie, who had once governed over a hundred billion, nearly a trillion people’s lives, expressed, these governmental affairs were so puny, how dare they call themselves governmental affairs?

Playing some chess with Little Li in the room would be better.

After returning, Xie Jianwei asked Lu Li about some stuff from his past.

Lu Li didn’t really want to talk about it. They were all unpleasant recollections, after all. But since Xie Jianwei asked it, he still carefully answered.

Without a single shred of holding back, what he said was basically exactly the same as Lorren.

Xie Jianwei felt quite pained in his heart: “You’ve suffered.”

Lu Li looked at him, his gaze gentle: “It’s nothing.”

Xie Jianwei enbraced him and kissed him, then asked: “Do you remember the events from before you were sixteen?”

Lu Li’s forehead furrowed.

Xie Jianwei stared at him without blinking.

Lu Li said: “I don’t remember it anymore.”

Xie Jianwei asked: “How come you can’t remember?”

It’d be normal if one had said that they couldn’t remember things that happened when they were three, but a youth of sixteen years should remember everything quite clearly already.

Lu Li didn’t hide anything from him. He confessed frankly: “My memories begin from sixteen years of age.”

Xie Jianwei’s features expressed doubt.

Lu Li said again: “I don’t know what I did before then. It’s as if I suddenly woke up one day, and, seeing everything before my eyes, I started living.”

It sounded too strange.

Xie Jianwei pondered… what if Lu Li wasn’t, in fact, the master of this dreamscape, but a personality that had come in halfway?

There was a certain pattern that Yan Ke had mentioned to him before, that due to the mutual rejection and isolation between the personalities, should a personality enter into another’s dreams, their awareness would be sealed away.

And because he was an outsider, problems might exist with the logic concerning him.

Appearing out of thin air, plagued with a persistent ailment, suffering through much abuse, living, and yet appearing as if he weren’t alive…

Just at this moment, Yan Ke sighed: “Must the Supreme Commander be so hard on himself?”

Xie Jianwei paused.

“No…”

Yan Ke, too, abruptly understood.

“It’s another Lord Supreme Commander that’s doing something? And so, it isn’t that this personality of the Supreme Commander wants to abuse himself, but that another personality of the Supreme Commander wants to abuse this personality?” Yan Ke almost talked himself into a state of muddledness, “It’s such a mouthful.”

Xie Jianwei said again: “This might not be true, either. After all, I’m not that hungry anymore.”

If it really was another Lu Li messing with things, then that meant that he was the master of the dreamscape. But the Lu Li right now could also interfere with a few things, so it wasn’t an easy feat to say just what was going on.

Yan Ke had already run out of brain capacity and expressed that he didn’t understand.

Xie Jianwei replied: “It’s fine, we can go slowly. The clues will only increase from here.”

Although he had promised Lorren that he would increase his caution, after working for a couple of days, Xie Jianwei once again lazed about in the room, not coming out.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to come out, but that he had no power to carry out his intentions.

The means of treatment were simply too taxing on his stamina.

Lorren was quite clever, too. Xie Jianwei had ‘been deeply poisoned’, and he knew that no matter how much he said, probably none of it would work, and so he simply offered up his killing move.

“We have the locations of the Sands of Starry Words and the Heart of Ice Silk.”

These were two of the materials necessary for the magic for awakening the leader of the Bloodclan.

Xie Jianwei said in surprise: “How come we’ve such good luck?”

Lorren rolled his eyes: “Even our Lord Father pities you.”

Xie Jianwei thought for a moment, then said: “Let me look at the information. I’ll go look for them.”

Lorren said: “I’ll go look for the Sands of Starry Words, and you go look for the Heart of Ice Silk. Then it’s decided.”

Xie Jianwei declined to comment.

It was only then that Lorren supplemented his words: “The Heart of Ice Silk is in the Frost Plains. I suggest you leave your Little Impotent in the territory. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be good if you were to leave with a living person but bring back an ice statue.”

Xie Jianwei: “…”

Lorren gave him a leather bag, then turned and left.

Written in detail within was the location of the Heart of Ice Silk as well as the method of extraction.

No wonder Xie Jianwei couldn’t find the thing’s location all along, and yet Lorren could suddenly find out about it recently.

The reason was because the Heart of Ice Silk had been eaten by a big guy. When the guy hid underground to sleep, it was to sleep for eight hundred years, and only on a specific day would it come out to feed.

It was a beast that was rarely seen in the world. It liked eating human flesh, and it ate them alive at that, downing them one per bite without even taking the clothes off.

Lorren was able to find this information because one of his subordinates had been really damn unlucky. He’d been mistaken for a human and swallowed downwallowed down. But this beast absolutely wouldn’t eat bloodclans, and so the subordinate had walked around a few times inside the monster’s stomach before being spat out again.

While he was walking around those few times, apart from seeing large amounts of ghastly corpses, he saw an icy-blue something as well.

It’d been swallowed down for eight hundred years, and yet the Heart of Ice Silk still hadn’t been digested. A divine material indeed.

Knowing that his household’s Count was looking for this thing, the spat-out bloodclan hurriedly washed himself clean and then ran back to report it.

And so Lorren had gotten ahold of this first-hand information.

Xie Jianwei thought that this was quite an intriguing piece of information.

At the very bottom, Lorren had left the contact details of that subordinate too. Xie Jianwei didn’t, however, want to meet him…

He had a feeling that if they met, he’d also become very intriguing.

As of now, the man-eating beast was still feasting like mad. It probably wanted to fill its stomach in one go, enabling it to sleep for another eight hundred years.

Actually, even if the Heart of Ice Silk didn’t exist, the Bloodclan was prepared to send people to get rid of this guy.

Although it didn’t eat bloodclans, what it did eat was the bloodclans’ food. Not only that, but it also ate recklessly and in huge amounts, and it paid no attention to its actions.

To give an example, say we grew a garden of Chinese leeks in our backyard. Originally, we intended to cut it and eat it, so that when we ate a batch, it can keep growing, but then an asshole came along and turned the whole ground over. The Chinese leeks were pulled up along with their roots, regardless of whether they were young or old, and all swallowed in a single bite. How maddening is that?

Originally, these military jobs were all taken over by Lorren himself, and normally wouldn’t get Xie Jianwei to take action.

But this time was different. Lorren intended to direct Xie Jianwei away, and so purposefully pushed this thing onto him.

The Frost Plains were extremely cold, and if a normal person were to go, they’d only suffer. Especially since it was to hunt down a man-eating beast, bringing Lu Li along was practically like bringing a live bait.

If a bloodclan was devoured, then they could still be spat out, but if a person was eaten, then they’d be straight up digested.

Hence, Xie Jianwei wouldn’t take Lu Li with him, be it for logical reasons or sentimental ones.

It was just that this trip would last more than ten days, and Xie Jianwei’s meals inevitably became a problem.

Lorren then kindly arranged for a portable blood bank for him, too…

Xie Jianwei was completely won over.

Yan Ke interrupted here: “If the Lord Supreme Commander remembers this one day, he’d probably give the Admiral a beating…”

Xie Jianwei laughed: “It’s possible.”

Yan Ke shook his head: “It really is quite unjust for Admiral Lorren.”

Before taking off, Xie Jianwei implored over and over to Lu Li: “Don’t go out by yourself no matter what. If you’re really bored, then you can look for Ah Fei, he will take you out to walk around.”

Ah Fei was Xie Jianwei’s right hand and was someone worth trusting.

Lu Li replied: “I understand.”

Xie Jianwei was worried that he’d be uneasy and said again: “Don’t worry, I’ll come back very soon.”

Lu Li replied: “En.”

Xie Jianwei turned and was about to leave, when Lu Li suddenly asked him: “You… what if you’re hungry?”

Xie Jianwei said: “I can drink cold blood, although I’ll need to drink it seven or eight times a day now, it’ll fill my stomach, barely.”

Lu Li hesitated for a moment.

Xie Jianwei walked to him and touched his lips, lightly speaking: “My teeth will only pierce through your skin.”

Lu Li abruptly pressed a hand to the back of his neck, kissing him hard.

The two kissed as if they couldn’t bear to part. Lorren rolled his eyes at them: “Let’s go, let’s go!”

Xie Jianwei smiled: “Wait for my return.”

Lu Li said: “En.”

Lorren was quite displeased: “Can he even do anything apart from kissing?”

Xie Jianwei: “…” Honestly speaking, he could do quite a few things, but I can’t tell you.

Lorren looked at Xie Jianwei with disgust as well: “You, too. He can’t harden, but can’t you? Fuck him first and have some fun.”

Xie Jianwei couldn’t help laughing: “What would that achieve? There’s still no hot blood, is there.”

Lorren sighed: “That’s what I’m saying, just what sort of thing did you find!”

Yan Ke exclaimed: “Aiyah, I need to record these words, Admiral Lorren will definitely obey me in the future!”

Xie Jianwei’s brain hurt from dealing with the two.

The line of people walked quite fast, and in a day’s effort, they arrived at the Frost Plains. The man-eater was currently tucking into his feast. It was quite painful to speak of actually – the humans living here already had very hard lives. Living wasn’t easy, and they had to endure the cold, and now, they had to be eaten alive, too, it was a capital lettered ‘miserable’.

Xie Jianwei wasted no time, immediately giving the order to begin the killing.

Actually, if he drank hot blood, he could take on this man-eating beast by himself. But now that he had starved for a century, his strength, having been constantly overspent, was far from what it was before, and so he now needed the help of his fellow clansmen.

With them fighting against the man-eating beast, the humans were saved.

But when the humans caught sight of the magnificent spells, they knew that these people were all bloodclans, and so they hid themselves again far, far away.

The man-eating beast was a bit more troublesome than they had imagined. After tossing about for an entire two days and nights, they finally put it down.

The Heart of Ice Silk was within its body. If they wanted to take it out, they needed to dissect it.

But the beast was as big as could be, and only after chopping about for a whole day did they finally acquire the blue Heart of Ice Silk.

The Heart of Ice Silk was incredibly mysterious – even having stayed inside this gigantic monster’s body for eight hundred years, radiance still flowed through it, as beautiful as a tiny star.

But Military Strategist Xie didn’t want to touch it. In fact, he wanted to move far, far away from it.

Finally haven taken care of this, Xie Jianwei’s single-heartedly thought about his lover. He wasted not even the slightest bit of time in setting off on the journey back.

In the seven or eight days that he’d been gone, he had consumed cold blood the entire time, and his stomach had long since been rumbling in hunger. Right now, the only thing he wanted was to hurry and see Lu Li and give himself a big reward.

It was a full day’s journey, yet he used only half a day to get back.

As he neared, his subordinate very cleverly suggested: ‘My Lord, you’ve made it back after so much effort, how about bringing Mr. Lu Li a gift?”

Xie Jianwei glanced at him, and the bloodclan youth continued to flatter away: “Mr. Lu Li will be delighted upon seeing you, but if you brought a gift, he’ll definitely be even happier.”

Xie Jianwei side-eyed him: “We’re right outside already, where could I possibly buy a present from.”

The little bloodclan was long prepared: “It just so happens that I have a set of something good here.”

Xie Jianwei thought that it probably wasn’t anything actually good.

As expected, the shifty little bloodclan took out a rather delicate wooden box and opened it up a sliver to show Xie Jianwei.

Xie Jianwei: “…”

Yan Ke ‘pu-chi’d in laughter.

Before Xie Jianwei replied, the sounds of a conversation came from a place not far away.

“What do you think you are? He’s doing it only so he can drink your blood.”

Lu Li: “For me to be needed by him, it is my honour.”

“Need you? Hurry and forget about it, if he really needed you, would he refuse to give you new life, even until now?”

“He’s only playing around with you at most, when he’s sick of you he’ll directly kill you off.”

Lu Li’s voice was as calm as could be: ‘To be able to die by his hands, I am very happy.”

The author has something to say: About that… don’t be angry, don’t find, how sweet is this story~!

I’m in a rush to leave today, so I didn’t correct the mistakes, please be forgiving hah!
