Chapter 29 Surprises From The System

Aion saw the emergency exit door closing, and he could see the legs of the unconscious George for a single moment. Everyone around him looked surprised, even his brothers, but he didn't have time to explain to them. Still, Henri and Philip understood what happened when Aion opened the door, and they turned around and didn't see Georges.

"Stay here with Elio and make sure not to let this guy escape, and don't drop your guard," Henri said.

Philip nodded and then proceeded to move away from the large group of people and explained the situation to Elio.

Already outside, Aion couldn't find the kidnappers and his brother. He could see some carriages heading in all directions, and he could tell that Georges was one of them… to think that the guild would leave such a convenient place unguarded.

"I don't have time for this…" Aion said and then changed his class to Mage and made the wand disappear before he fired Fireballs toward the carriages.

He aimed at the wheels, and explosions happened when he hit them. Immediately, almost all of them stopped moving, and the drivers went to check what had happened, but only one didn't stop… Aion changed to the Ninja class and then used Furtivity.

When Henri left the training grounds, he found several carriages around, and they stopped because their wheels were on fire, he didn't understand that, but he concluded that Aion somehow used some sort of trick to stop them since the kidnappers probably were trying to blend in the city and escape with Georges in one of those… Still, what was even weirder was the fact that he couldn't see Aion.

All the carriages around had stopped, and Henri couldn't see any others moving, so he had to choose a direction to go… before that could happen. He closed his eyes and tried to focus his hearing on the sound of moving carriages. He clicked his tongue since he didn't sense anything, but then when he opened his eyes, he saw a small amount of smoke on his left side moving. He ran in that direction…

It didn't take long for Henri to reach the carriage, that day, he was only carrying his sword on his waist, so he was pretty light, and the carriage was damaged. Somehow, they extinguish the flames on the wheels and tried to move without drawing too much attention. Henri approached to confirm that Georges was there, but a random cloaked man suddenly appeared in front of him and blocked his path.

"Move or shout, and we will slit his throat," The cloaked man said.

Henri panicked and then clenched his teeth in annoyance. He truly couldn't do anything… it was too risky. Since the enemies captured his little brother, they wanted to use him for something, but it didn't mean that they would lose much if they killed him there. They were only bandits, while George was one of the sons of an important family that was practically destined to become a high-ranked officer in the army. If they were planning that, they could even start a war using both ways…

Henri panicked, even more, when he noticed the carriage getting smaller in the distance… Couldn't he do anything? While he was questioning that, he saw an explosion happening in the carriage, and then Aion suddenly appeared there. When the cloaked man turned around to see that, Henri drew his sword and charged at the enemy, and unsheathed his weapon along the way. Still, he only hit with the side of the Blade. They would need these guys alive…

Some guards approached to question Henri since he drew a weapon in the middle of the day and attacked someone. He dropped his weapon and raised his arms… He could only hope that Aion would rescue Georges.

Aion approached the carriage as fast as he could while moving close to the walls of the buildings. Although Aion couldn't hide completely, and the skill was even less effective during the day, no one noticed him since the walls reflected a lot of the sunlight. When he got close enough to climb the back of the carriage, Aion climbed it slowly and without making any noise and saw Georges on the floor of the vehicle and two of the kidnappers sitting in front of him, heavily armed. The driver was acting like nothing was happening inside, even though the wheel was on fire a couple of seconds ago.

"I have to use Fireball on them at full power, but I will reveal myself by changing classes. If that doesn't kill them, they will attack Georges on spot, and this isn't a situation where I can defend him while he is unconscious…" Aion thought.

The spell was only at level one since he didn't have any chances to train it, so he used all of his points to increase its firepower… since it has come to this, Aion will have to spam it and hope that the enemies will be defeated just by that.

"I can't attack the sides since the ceiling of the carriage might fall on Georges… he has been drugged and won't wake up for a while," Aion thought.

Aion pointed both of his hands toward the kidnappers and then used Fireball two times in a row. The spell burned the walls of the carriage before it exploded the back of it. While ignoring the pieces of wood hitting him, Aion fired the spells again toward the two kidnappers, but they raised their swords to block them. What they didn't expect was the fact that Aion would spam the skill until they were completely on fire.
