Chapter 88 Idea

"Shit… I didn't find any mention that he can do something like this," Aion thought after he fixed his stance and closed the wound by freezing some of the blood with his magic.

Aion didn't have much time to do that because the enemy swung down the spear. He jumped to the side while looking at the shadow, and he confirmed that the shadow extension was sharp like a blade… it wouldn't cause blunt damage.

When the weapon hit the ground, the area between Aion and the enemy cracked, creating an even larger path of destruction compared to what Caelis did when he was rolling.

While he was dodging the attacks, Aion confirmed that the spear could become up to one hundred meters long, but the real problem was that Caelis was swinging like the weight didn't increase at all…

When the spear was too fast, and Aion couldn't dodge the attack, he blocked it with his weapon, and he ended up being pushed to one hundred meters away from his original position… that much power wasn't a joke.

All of a sudden, Aion had a harder time dodging the attacks, and he could only block them and be pushed around like a piece of rag. He recalled that the shadow could control people, and while he suffered only a scratch, it was enough to make him hesitate.

"Since it is like that…" Aion thought. "I will have to accept some risks."

Aion had an idea, but it was a risky one. Still, it was better than taking his time and giving the enemy more chances to attack him.

When the next downward strike came, Aion blocked his weapon for a moment before he let the enemy's weapon fall to the side. The weapon landed on the ground and raised a large dust curtain. Caelis planned to swing the spear to the side since he didn't see Aion moving away, but before he could do that, he saw his weapon being covered in ice and quickly moved to his hands.

Caelis could endure that much. The last thing that he needed was to let go of his weapon and give Aion the chance to take his weapon. Eventually, the ice-covered his hands, and then he tried to free himself. However, even with all his strength, only a few cracks appeared. When Caelis tried again, a powerful electric curtain hit and paralyzed him.

Aion used that short window of time to dash toward the enemy and target the other eye. However, the weapon decreased in size, and other spikes approached Aion insanely fast.

The spear approached the enemy's head, but at the last moment, all of the shadow retreated to Caelis' body, and then he recovered to dodge to the side… still, Aion's thrust pierced his left ear. While clicking his tongue, Aion let the momentum move his body and then he attacked the enemy's face with his right knee. The attack made him stagger, but he still swung his weapon at Aion's side, forcing him to defend with his weapon.

"... I lost a good chance," Aion thought when he stopped.

Aion caused some damage, but he used all of his remaining mana. He could recover one per minute and use it to keep Quick Spear active, but that won't change anything.

Despite the fact that Aion didn't know what to do next, he noticed that the enemy wasn't taking advantage of the situation. Aion thought that he would be more like a berserker warrior like Horis since he used to invade the border all the time, but maybe he misunderstood things…

There are people that lose themselves in a fight… when they are too easy, and they pick on the weak to enjoy that situation of empowerment. It was hard to say if that was the case, but many things made Aion assume that it was the case. The enemy's hesitation gave Aion the time to cool his head a little, to the point that he also had an interesting idea…

Taunting the enemy now would only make him more suspicious of Aion's actions, so Aion decided to do the reverse. Taunt the enemy by making himself look afraid. Aion took a few steps backward while he took a deep sigh. He went as far as using the Inner Force for a short while to make him sweat more… His plan worked well, despite his own situation, Caelis assumed that Aion was hesitating because he suffered more damage than he actually let it show. Besides, he knew how Inner Force makes their users tired.

Caelis charged and then began to thrust his spear at Aion's head. Still, he made the shadow cover his whole body for defense purposes. With his spear, Aion blocked the strikes or parried them to the side while he was being pushed backward.

Each impact got louder than the previous one as Caelis showed his excitement and Aion showed an expression of pain. His hands began to bleed, too… still, time and time again, Caelis failed at delivering the finishing blow. He needed more speed and power to do that…

Caelis clenched his teeth and then and then swung his spear with all his might at Aion's neck. The attack pushed Aion to the side for several meters and broke his balance. Caelis charged at him again while he made the shadow protecting his back move to his arms and legs. His speed and power increased just like that, and then he went to stab Aion's head with all his might. However, in the blink of an eye, the expression of struggle disappeared from Aion's face, and he pointed his spear at the enemy's left chest.

Aion imagined his mana passing through his weapon and then extending beyond it, soon after, he calmed down his spirit, and then the mana took shape of a spear of ice that increased the length of his weapon, Caelis didn't have time to dodge that, and with that charge, he ended making himself being impaled…
