Chapter 104 Ancient Relics

"Are they from your homeland?" Aion asked. "I couldn't hold back. I didn't have time to do so, so recognizing them by their bodies and faces might become a bit problematic. I didn't expect that something like this would happen..."

"I… think so… there are survivors, but…" Artemisia replied nervously.

Aion could tell that the servants would soon come to check things. He couldn't let the rumor that people from his mother's homeland were alive and had come to her room as assassins would. So, he used magic to close the door. Getting rid of the bodies while his mother was there was going to be a problem, so he sent her to his room.

"You guys did a good job. Follow mom again," Aion said while patting the head of the three Articirius.

In the end, Aion moved the bodies to his inventory and then cleaned the blood and repaired the walls. When the servants came, he explained to them that some burglars showed up, but they had been dealt with. They didn't know anyone stronger than Aion, so they believed in his words.

Aion returned to the room and bit his lips until they began to bleed… he had gotten stronger, but that didn't help him even a bit to notice the arrival of those three… he truly needed to improve his skills more without relying on the system.

"Shit… all this management bullshit is making me slack off," Aion thought. "I need to find difficult dungeons to clear to get better materials and experience."

The problem with that was the fact that it would only help the present and the near future when it came to his mother's safety, Aion had to consider many other aspects. Not to mention, now he had to investigate why her own people invaded her room like that…

Another problem was the fact that only Artemisia could help Aion with the questions that he had, and bothering her with that would only make her more nervous.

"Mother is a strong woman… but I guess she didn't expect to see any of her people again," Aion thought. "Being targeted by them was even worse of a shock…"

Aion couldn't talk with his skeletons or death knights, so he couldn't turn the bodies into skeletons and hoped that they could give him some answers. In any case, it was hard to say if the next time, the Articirius would be enough, and Aion couldn't leave his death knights watching his mother while she slept. She wouldn't even take naps. It couldn't be helped, but Aion will have to endure the bear hugs while he sleeps again.

"Mom, do you have any idea how those guys might have entered your room?" Aion asked the next day while they were having breakfast.

"... some relics able to bend space exist," Artemisia replied. "I guess they approached like that…"

"They didn't have anything with them… so, they had an ally with that kind of tool," Aion said. "What would the limitations of those kinds of relics be?"

"The use probably would have to be on the location he wanted to go, or he had to set the location somehow," Artemisia asked.

Only a few people knew where Artemisia slept. If the servants had done something like that, then they would have been stupid. It would be too much of a roundabout way. So, the user probably used something like Clairvoyance. That was another type of ability that Aion had never heard of being used in that world… Still, anyone smart would shout to the world that they could use it.

"Did you know that such type of magic existed, mom?" Aion asked.

"I heard that all kinds of relics exist… they are the results of many battles that happened in the past," Artemisia replied. "There were all kinds of rulers in the past with all kinds of treasures. While I don't know the details since many pages of history have been lost over the years, such weapons were created to protect my empires… I always thought that it was nonsense, but back home, I found some books that mentioned the possibility that the world was on the brink of extinction many times thanks to the relics that people created to rule."

That wasn't surprising. In a world where people could mutate and obtain a massive boost in power and crazy skills, it was evident that most people would feel insecure and find ways to protect themselves. Until now, Aion didn't come across any of them, but he should try to find them to avoid problems.

"Until we find a way to deal with this, I guess you should sleep in my room, I will move your bed to there," Aion said and then sighed.

"Sorry for bothering you," Artemisia said, forcing a smile. "In any other situation, I would be fine, but against my own people… I was supposed to be glad that some of them are alive, but I guess that even they hate me now."

"Thinking negatively won't help, mom," Aion said. "The situation is already difficult as it is. There is no need for us to make things harder by thinking like that. Anyway, don't think that you will be attacked during the day since you can defend yourself, but the enemies might try anything to surprise you. So, don't lower your guard and bring those guys with you wherever you go."

Aion wanted to look for a relic that will prevent that kind of magic in his house, but he didn't have the connections to do that… only one person could help him with that… his father. Writing a letter about it would be dangerous, heading to the capital now also would be troublesome, even if he returns on the same day… that would raise a lot of questions. Come to think of it, Aion crossed around two hundred kilometers of territory in three days and his mother didn't say a thing… Was that normal in the world?
