Chapter 110 Guardian’s Power

"It seems that you can control your powers well, and you had the whole situation under control," Lexus said. "Still, you shouldn't do that kind of thing without telling us… I thought you all were smart enough to avoid doing reckless things, but I guess you are still too young and reckless…"

Lexus' scolding ended there, but Aion knew that his mother had something in store for him as well. Still, her expression softened a little soon after. Regardless, he didn't expect that he would be the one getting scolded after so long.

"Thanks, Aion, that was awesome," Henri said.

"Let's do it once we confirm that we won't be scolded again," Maisie said while smiling.

The others thanked Aion as well before living. So, Aion returned to his room, and the others left as well.

"That was too irresponsible, Aion," Artemisia said.

"Relax, mom," Aion said. "All of my moves are coldly calculated."

"You are getting stubborn by the day… I thought that you weren't going to become a rebellious teenager, but I guess I was wrong," Artemisia said and then sighed. "Still, your magic power impressed me… I didn't think that you could do so much. It is weird since your magic power sometimes is so high and sometimes so low."

Once again, Artemisia surprised Aion… he thought that all mages were bad at sensing things, but his mother was from a lineage of powerful ones. It wouldn't be surprising if she could do a lot more than run-of-the-mill mages could. Fortunately, she didn't inquire him much further on that. She was just surprised since it didn't look like Aion trained that much.

It felt like Artemisia was going to teach him a few more things, but it was hard to imagine what since her lessons were getting shorter and shorter, and they only happened now and then. Still, that was convenient for Aion since he wanted to level up the Guardian class. To make things work faster, Aion decided to buy some points in magic to make him able to use Devotion already. Even without suffering damage, the class should receive experience as long as the skill stays active. This was true, but the skill had a limited range that increased by improving the speed… of the skill… Aion wished that the system could adapt those extra parameters. Otherwise, he would see weird things like that.

After doing some tests, Aion confirmed that the powerful effect of the improvement points decreased the damage that he could receive from attacks by one percent, speed increased the range by one hundred meters, and efficiency decreased the cost to use the skill and when the target suffered too much damage. The good thing was that those effects increased exponentially the higher Aion's magic was… so Devotion was a spell. Eventually, he would be able to protect his mother even when he stayed hundreds of kilometers away from her.

"It would have been nice if I could track her location as well with this, but I guess that would be way too convenient…" Aion thought. "In any case, the skill will be improved by itself while staying active and the class as well. So I can focus again on leveling up the other classes. For funsies, leveling up Bard would be easy, but I guess I need something more offensive-oriented."

With the necromancer class, Aion could build a powerful army and use them as a shield while he uses his mother's magic from the safety of the backline. With Guardian, he could protect her no matter where, but it wasn't very good for direct combat…

While thinking about that and trying to study the magic items, the next two days passed in the blink of an eye, and the day of the ceremony arrived. He kind of already knew that, but Aion tried to forget about the fact that he would have to wear some fancy formal clothes… most of the men would wear clothes like resembled the clothes of Maestros, the old and basic combination of black and white… Still, Aion didn't feel very confident about it.

"Wow, Aion! You look so cool!" Artemisia said while smiling from ear to ear. "The girls will lose their heads."

"Let's hope that I won't be punished for such a crime," Aion said and then looked at the three Articirius. "You guys will watch the fort and protect mom, as usual, do your job well, and then I will give you some extra chunks of meat… also, stopping growing. Otherwise, you guys won't be able to cross that door in a few days."

Aion trained and raised those three to become guardians that would give their lives to protect his mother, but they meowed like spoiled cats… Aion was unsatisfied, but they did their job once, so they couldn't complain.

"I will try to return as soon as possible, but I don't know for how long this kind of event lasts, so don't wait for me, mother," Aion said.

After that, Aion left and then found his brothers in the garden. Lexus was already there, and it felt weird everyone was wearing the same clothes. It was even more bothersome since his father was buffed, and those clothes made muscular soldiers really stand out in a good way.

In any case, Aion had planned to arrive early and then try to get in the corner of the castle like a shy kid on the first day of school. He didn't want to stand out or cause issues on such an important day for his brother, but unfortunately, the women of the house were determined to arrive late…

After half an hour, the mothers of his brothers and his half-sisters finally showed up. For some reason, they were all wearing the same type of red dress. While they all looked objectively beautiful, Aion wondered why they didn't get ready faster since they could have helped each other.

"Women… even in Isekai, they take their time getting ready," Aion thought.
