Chapter 182 Not Caring Anymore

Around noon of the next day, the speed of the ship decreased a little, and when night came, Aion could see the shadows of the continent in the distance again. It was finally time for the mission to start, but he didn't look that nervous.

They only got close enough to give Aion enough room to make the group fly to that kingdom. There was a beach nearby, but Aion headed further until he landed on a grove since he saw some shadows moving on the beach… Shadows of monsters.

"We already found them pretty soon," Aion said.

"As I said, they let the dungeon breaks happen in order to tame monsters, but they also spread and multiply around the kingdom, which gives room for everyone to hunt them and get stronger," Sauros explained.

"I can see more silhouettes of monsters ahead," Seris said.

Aion looked at them and sighed. He couldn't dispose of the corpses with his weapon, and killing them and leaving a trail would be a bad idea. It was such a pity to leave such valuable experience and materials behind…

The shadows of the monsters were of giant crabs. When they got too close, the creatures pointed their class at them and fired a powerful water blast. Aion blocked that with a wind wall and then fired a wind Blade through it, increasing its power. When it hit the monster, it split them in half. Their had firepower but no defense.

You obtained 250 experience points.

"Ah, screw it…" Aion said and then touched the body with his staff making it disappear.

"Don't worry. We know that you have more than a few secrets, and we won't pry and bother you," Sauros said.

"If you can fight and destroy the evidence of our moves, there is nothing else to say," Seris said.

That was convenient and very understanding of them. Still, Aion could tell that they were itching to ask what he had done… putting that aside, to think that giant crabs existed in that world. Aion probably could make a killing with their meat, and he was looking forward to tasting it later.

In any case, when the body was processed, Aion got the meat, the carapace, and a blue gem that increased ice damage and resistance to the items equipped with that. Aion had never tried that before and never saw anything like it. Still, he wondered if their effects could stack when attacked on a single magic item, and that was something he had to test later.

"Where are we heading now?" Aion asked.

"We have an ally on the nearest port town, there is a city two hundred kilometers south of here, but it is where one of the generals of this kingdom lives. It would be a bad idea to head there first," Sauros replied. "We have one extra disguise ring for you."

"No need," Aion said and then put a black headband to cover his eyes, and he also stored his armor inside his inventory.

"All right, let's get going," Sauros said.

Once again, the siblings were weirdly cooperative and didn't ask how Aion could walk like that. Truth to be told, he couldn't unless he felt the territory around with magic. Aion felt that training his senses like that eventually would improve his senses. Still, he doubted that he could do it in any other way.

The terrain around didn't have tall grass, and aside from a few small hills, it was well-suited for traveling around. The only real issue was the encounter rate with monsters. It was insanely high… to the point that Aion felt that he was in a game. He wondered how the hell people could live like that… merchants would have to go out of their way and hire mercenaries and adventurers for every single trip they made.

"I guess that also works to improve the military might of this kingdom…" Aion thought. "Money isn't a problem given the dungeon breaks make a lot more materials available, but it is quite the risky plan."

After walking for two hours, they finally reached the port town, and fortunately, they didn't find many guards or travelers near the entrance. None of them were being stopped either. While they could fly and land in some dark alleys, it was better for them to try to get a feel of the level of awareness of the guards.

In the end, the guards didn't pay much attention to them when they crossed the gate. Sauros didn't mention that before, but the people living in that kingdom were quite varied when it came to their skin, hair color, and body types. Since they constantly wage war and get new lands, it was only natural that such a thing was going to happen.

They headed in a straight line to an inn where their spies managed things. Aion felt that they should travel at night to save time, but it would be hard to say if someone wouldn't notice them entering the inn in the evening and not leaving in the morning.

There were few people in the inn, but the group didn't stop to talk with the manager. Instead of that, they just rented a single large room, and Sauros asked the man to deliver their dinner there as well. Maybe that was their modus operandi, and despite that, things still went south back in the merchants' hell hole.

After a while, they received their food in the room, and under Sauros' bowl, he found a note. That was how they communicated with the spies… it wasn't a bad idea. Still, Aion felt that something was lacking, probably because he had watched too many movies about secret agents.

Sauros sighed when he read the note and then passed it to Seris, who facepalmed after hearing about the bad news. Aion had no idea what was written there, but he eventually had his chance. In the note, it was written: the generals are heading to the capital for a tournament…
