Chapter 214 Hunt

Aion's group split away from the others, and while the vegetation of the area was quite dense, they still could feel some people's gazes on them. At the same time, they didn't find any constructions. They were supposed to have someplace to store food, water, weapons, and other things, but it seemed that they had built it in the center of the island.

"They sure are cautious about this place considering how easily we infiltrated," Aion thought, and then he touched the ground.

It didn't take long for Aion to find twenty or so enemies hidden in the tall grass and behind some trees. It was clear that they wanted to surround them, but their plan was bound to fail with Aion around. It was a pity for them, and Aion couldn't help but smirk since that kind of thing was really fun.

Using his magic, Aion froze the area around those twenty guys and looked them up in several ice blocks. They were pretty thin since Aion wanted to save mana, and they could free themselves soon enough, so he signaled for the other two to hurry up.

The panic was visible in the pirates' eyes, but they couldn't even shout since Aion covered their mouths as well. Using their weapons and Aion with his spear, they silently finished off that group of enemies. Still, the smell of blood was quickly spreading alongside the sound of metal… other crew members were forced to fight at close range already…

"We need to split up…" Seris said.

"Since they are your friends, it is understandable that you want to save them," Aion said. "However, you truly aren't suited for the battlefield… you worry too much about the others."

Seris couldn't refute that. Sauros had mentioned that she should focus on building things instead of forcing herself to destroy them. Still, her power was rare among her people, and many thought that it would be a waste to leave it alone.

"You guys should cover the sides, and I will dash to the center of the island," Aion said. "I will try to cause havoc there, so try not to get in the way of my attacks."

"... Let's do that, but remember what I told you before," Sauros said. "The pirates only follow the strong, and only someone powerful would be able to keep all the pirates of the region on a tight leash."

Aion nodded, and then the group split up. It didn't take long for him to find another group ready to ambush him. However, before they could do anything, Aion enhanced his spear with wind magic and then swung it. A massive blade of wind flew toward half of the enemies nearby and hidden behind the threes and ended up cutting everything on the way for dozens of meters.

The others hid on the grass and got up, only in time to see Aion right in front of them swinging his weapon. Those who had raised theirs managed to survive the first strike, but the others lost their heads. Still, the survivors didn't last much since their weapons broke in a single moment.

"I don't get it… those guys are weak, but the system is giving more experience than the minimum…" Aion thought. "Maybe the conditions and the environment affect that as well… I have no idea why, though."

Aion began to run again, and this time, he quickly reached the center of the island, where he found an area that had been leveled up for the construction of some houses and a larger building. It seemed like a warehouse, but that wasn't the important part. It was the fact that he could feel a powerful presence around… even without his magic. The amount of bloodlust was crazy enough to make Aion even increase the power of his grip on the weapon.

From behind that massive building, something jumped over. Aion thought that he was going to face a human, but in front of him, what showed up was a giant bipedal red-purple wolf… it seemed like a monster. Still, Aion could see some understanding in that thing's eyes. Aion stared at the creature while wondering what he should do… time was of the essence, after all.

"You must be the leader… since you aren't fazed by my bloodlust…" The creature said.

"I see… you can transform your body completely to look like a monster. Pretty handy skill," Aion said. "That must increase your strength and hide your appearance…"

Aion wondered what that guy had to do to be able to mutate like that, but deep down, he also felt that it wasn't a good idea to know about it… Regardless, the enemy didn't feel like telling, even though he should be stalling for time for his underlings to come and help.

All of a sudden, the enemy charged at Aion and swung his hands at Aion's neck. He blocked the charge with his spear the moment the nails of the enemy suddenly grew… however, the impact alone pushed him backward for several meters.

"I guess when it comes to strength, he has the upper hand," Aion said while looking at the bulging muscles of the pirate.

In any other situation, Aion would enjoy fighting a guy of that level. Still, he has to hurry and help the others. The crew members didn't have the numbers to do everything by themselves.

Aion dashed before the enemy could and then enhanced his spear with the improved version of wind magic… it was lightning magic. Even the toughest enemies would be paralyzed while being electrocuted, and Aion was planning to finish off that guy in that short window of time. However, while he was thrusting his spear at the enemy's head, he just dodged them to the sides while taking steps backward. His speed was also phenomenal, but the real problem was the fact that he could read Aion's line of attack completely…
