Chapter 275 Setbacks

The atmosphere on the floor changed again. While Aion didn't have that many chances left to use Chaotic Punch, it was clear that the enemy was wary of that attack… the enemy should be wary, but Aion should be even more considering how it hurts him. He didn't get any skills or spells that fixes lasting damage, and maybe it was about time for him to level up the Priest class seriously. Better be safe than sorry.

When the enemy grabbed another arrow, Aion could see that the arrowheads were made of some unknown material… it didn't seem like iron or steel. It certainly wasn't made of diamond either… still, maybe that was the secret between the Archer's power.

"I am fifty meters away, with an arrow that fast… I can only block the attacks while I am at this distance," Aion thought. "Any further, and I can only protect my head and heart and hope that getting hit anywhere else won't take me down that fast…"

When the arm of the enemy relaxed, Aion used Chaotic Punch and hit his head behind his right fist while his left guard protected his head. Still, the arrow collided with his right gauntlet… the enemy had aimed at his head even though he knew what Aion would do.

The attack slowed Aion a bit, but then he used Force Release and charged toward the enemy. In a single moment, he covered that distance. Still, the enemy jumped and created some distance between them by firing several arrows. The shots caused some shockwaves that forced him to move. Still, Aion strengthened his guard and kept going.

Eventually, the archer began to fall, and Aion approached while blocking the arrows with his gauntlets, and then he used Chaotic Punch. Much to his surprise, the archer blocked Aion's punch… with his bow.

The enemy has pushed away and rolled on the ground several times but quickly got up only to see Aion on his knees. His legs gave up due to the pain caused by his cracked bones.

After taking a deep breath, Aion got up and saw the enemy pointing an arrow at his head. Aion took another deep sigh while looking at the enemy in the eye. Dragging out things will only make things harder for him… Aion decided to bet everything on the next attack.

It wasn't as nearly as efficient if compared to being used the original way. Still, Aion decided to burn all the energy in his cores. While being used, his stamina and mana made his body evaporate a lot of sweat on his body and clothes.

The enemy raised his guard, and he hesitated for the first time in the battle. He had no idea what to expect next… still, while it had been a smart move to be cautious, the hesitation also cost the enemy…

Aion let his energy explode and charged. The enemy summoned a single arrow that became dozens and was fired toward Aion's head. In the next moment, a powerful impact took place in the middle of the floor. The shockwave pushed Sauros and Seris backward and eventually knocked them down.

After rolling on the ground several times, they got up, and when the smoke began to dissipate, they saw Aion with his fist right in the middle of the enemy's left chest. They saw the enemy opening his mouth, but they were unable to hear the words…

"It is too late…" The archer said before he turned into a shadow and then disappeared.

"The nerve of this asshole…" Aion muttered before he fell to the ground.

While there wasn't a single one there, Aion had several wounds on his body, as if Arrows had hit him several times. During the healing process, Aion wondered what the hell that ability was… the enemy could make a single arrow become countless and increase its power exponentially… It seemed like some sort of magic mutation and almost as broken as Aion's system. As long as one had enough energy, they basically could cause enough damage to the enemy to kill it no matter what…

"How many times do I have to tell you… don't be so reckless!" Sauros said. "If the enemy had hit your vitals…"

"I didn't let him do that, so it is fine," Aion said. "I forced him to show his best card in order to make the fight end as soon as possible."

Sauros facepalmed… it was impossible to argue with Aion and convince them that he was wrong. Talking with a stubborn wall would be easier… still, at least he wasn't planning to move to the next floor immediately.

"Now, the next one… I wonder how it will be," Aion said. "The one that people call god or the one they refer to as goddess?"

Seris looked at Sauros… it was clear by that point in time that those two were heavily outclassed. Even with their powers, they couldn't do much in the real battles inside the Tower… it was unlikely that they would be able to be of much assistance on the next floors.

They couldn't help but wonder if Aion was harsh to himself because he grew up always facing problems that were too big for him. Now that they thought about it, he had four older brothers, and they probably hated him at first, but it didn't look like he grew up to become a resentful person…

In any case, Sauros and Seris' powers always had been enough for them to survive the most sticky of situations, and yet now…

"What is this gloomy atmosphere?" Aion asked. "Aren't you guys too old to get depressed over some minor setbacks?"

"Minot setbacks, he says…" Sauros said and then sighed. "Well, no point thinking too much about what happens, and we can only move on and learn from our mistakes."

Aion wondered why they looked depressed and then looked like they had some sort of realization. Those guys sure were weird…
