"So, anything more in the books you want to tell me," Kayda asked, sitting next to me in the carriage going towards the slums.

"Hmm, An kind of explained everything. The only problem is that we need to shut it off or know how long its stays, but I can't find anything about it," I said, a bit frustrated about it.

"I see that might be a problem but didn't An say that it works on lives?" Kayda said with a thoughtful expression.

"Yes, do you think it might hold out until the life force that was serviced runs out?" I said, not really asking her.

"Yes, but that's too vague to run on," Kayda said, nodding.

"Yeah, you never know how long the life force of a dog can hold the summoning on," I said, shrugging.

"Just don't call the guild master dog or pup in front of the other adventures. It will make this operation just runway smoother." Kayda said with a long sigh. 

"I need to play nice with the pup with a stick up his ȧss. No promises"

"Yes, but I won't really say he has a stick up his ȧss," Kayda said, tilting her head at me.

"He expects everyone around him to follow his orders with-," I said before something terrible downed on me.

"Kitsu? You okay there?" Kayda said, worried seeing my dreaded expression.

"Kayda, I am the", I mumbled, leaving most of it inaudible.

"Kitsu, don't just stop in the middle of your sentences like that. You are making me worry."

"Kayda, I am the same as him, aren't I," I said, looking at Kayda with pleading eyes.

"Who, what now?" Kayda said, clearly confused.

"I am the same as the guild master."

"Ooh, yeah, pretty much," Kayda said, not denying it in the slightest.

"You could have been nice about it."

"Why? You guys don't like each other because you are the same, and on second thought, he's worse than you. You won't expect someone to reveal everything about themself on the first meeting." Kayda said, nodding at herself as if what she said should make me feel better.

"I guess I won't, but I might force someone to tell me," I said with a thoughtful expression.

"Might? You have done that a couple of times." Kayda said, hitting me over my head.

"Tch, that's true," I said, clicking my tongue.

"In all fairness, all that was a need at the time."

"Still to think I am the same as that Dog. It is quite irritating," I said with venom.

"If you don't like it change it," Kayda said, chuckling at me.

"But that's a tall order."

"Yes, but I know you can do it," Kayda said, kissing my cheek just when the carriage came to a standstill, and she didn't wait before jumping out of it. 

"We have arrived." The coachmen said, coming into view at the open door.

"Oi, that's unfair. You can't surprise me like that," I said, flustered.

"Come on, Kitsu, let's get moving," Kayda said, glancing back at me, winking.

"Fricken dragoness, one of these days, you going to kill me with these surprises," I mumbled, putting one hand on my blushing face.

"Pah, like a heart attack, will kill you," Kayda yelled, laughing.

"Tch, it will still hurt, though," I said, looking away, pouting.

"With your pain resistance, it might just feel like an ɨnċėst bite." Kayda rebuked smugly.

"..." there was nothing I could say to that because it was probably true.

"Ah, you guys have arrived. Luckily, the summoning hasn't started." The guild master said very sarcastically.

"Yo, we have a bit more intel about the summoning," Kayda said, walking up to the guild master.

"You do, do tell us, please. I hope it has something to do with how long it will last." the Dog said in a demanding tone.

"It kind of does, and the answer is. We are not sure how long it will last. All we can ȧssume is that it depends on how much lifeforce was sacrificed." I said, shrugging before Kayda could continue.

"Hmm, good an ȧssumption but useless in the end."

"No, it is instrumental, you know," I said sarcastically.

"So, guild master, what's your game plan?" Kayda said, hitting my shoulder.

"We took all the houses away in 1 kilometre's radius, making it an open grassland so we can see the thralls easily." The guild master explains, looking around.

"Not bad, but with that much open space, the thrall can run rampant much easier," I said, not seeing enough people standing around to be of any use controlling this much space.

"True, but that's where I thought you might have a plan." The guild master said, looking at me.

"... I have something cooked up for that," I said, nodding a bit, surprised he let me decide.

"Great, I was also thinking to put all the adventures who are only vesicle attackers on bows and arrows to have their shot at the seekers." The guild master explained, making both Kayda and me nod in agreement.

"That would work wonderfully," Kayda said happily.

"Hmm, how many guys with magic swords skills do you have," I said, looking around at the number of adventures.

"Let me give you a complete run down instead."

"Clever idea." Kayda and I said in unison, putting all our focus on him.

"We have 120 only vesicle attackers. 114 mages and 56 swordsmen that also use magic."

"That quite a lot of people. Sadly, I don't think it will be enough." I said, trying to sound friendly.

"If we work in shift and properly, we will make it work." The guild master said.

"You done the calculations already?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Yes, we will."

"You can oversee that or tell Kayda I am just going to go set up the fence. Oh, and the rock seekers, I will manage them the best I can."

"Okay, ask Jess over there to help you." The guild master said, pointing at a girl explaining something to a group of adventures that was sitting on the ground in front of her.

"Thanks," I said, walking towards the group.

"Remember to hit the seekers in the eye." She said, pointing at her own eye.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Now it seems I have something else to do, so go get your bows ready if you do t understand as someone to help," Jess said, looking at me making me tilt my head at her.

'Did she hear us talk?' I thought, taking a closer look at her. At the moment, she was wearing greenish light armour with a hood hiding her green hair and long elf ears. Surprisingly, she had blue eyes, making it stand out like a sore thump with all the green and white pearl skin colour.

"Yes, ma'am." They said, sounding like little kids being dismissed.

"You seem to handle newbies quite well," I said sarcastically.

"And you seem too knowledgeable for your age." She rebuked, making me confused.

"What the fuċk does that supposed to mean," I said, completely confused.

"You're too young to be here, but the guild master is listening to you. Let me remind you our guild master never listens to someone younger than him."

"Hmm, what can I say. I got a proper head on me." I said, shrugging.

"Sigh, anyway, you were sent here for something, right? How can I help you?" She said, sighing shaking her head at my confidence.

"Aah, yes, I need help setting up a fence."

"Might I inquire what this fence is meant for?"

"Well, the mages will need a lot of protection and having a small number of guys that can do vesicle and magic damage at the same time. the fence will provide this protection by being doing constant magic damage."

"Huh, you can make something like that." She said, dumbfounded.

"Yeah, it will be a bit complicated and dangerous for the people that will work with my element, but it shouldn't be impossible."

"I remember the guild master said you apparently have special elements but do explain your plan."

"We will you these as poles, and in between each pole, we will span adamite wire," I said, taking out a batch of spears, rods and all sort of long objects that will work as poles for the fence.

"Hmm, are these made out of your ice magic?"

"Yes, they are," I said while sorting out the wire.

"Then can't we use these to kill the thrall?"

"I thought about it as well, but I don't think that will work. my ice magic in this state is a vesicle, not magical."

"Yeah, that won't work."

"Anyways, now in the first run, I will run my mana through a mana conductor. Those will be set every few hundred meters."

"Hmm, by mana conductors, do you mean those things that are made in Guns?"

"Yeah, just bigger."

"How many do you have."

"Enough, I made them mostly out of ice as well. They do work if you were worried."

"You made it out of ice? Is there anything you can make out of your ice?" She said with moon-like eyes.

"Not much actually, and guns I make out my ice withstand one shot before breaking," I explain, looking at her.

"I give up okay, let's get the start-up."

"Oh, also, for each conductor, get someone with excellent mana control, okay."

"But that would mean the stronger mages won't be able to fight."

"That or your newbies get burned to death by devil magic?"

"Okay, fair point. I will get everyone ready and explain."

"Great, let's move before shit hits the fan," I said grinning.
