The Fourth Tanaka Family Meeting [Part 1]

“……so, why was Emma fast asleep?”

The next morning, after Emma woke up refreshingly and had her second serving of breakfast, the fourth Tanaka family meeting was held in her room that had been cleared out of people.

“Mother, the bed in the royal castle… was so amazingly soft. It was the best feeling… like I was sleeping on clouds.”

Emma, who sensed that she might get scolded from Melsa’s question, appealed that it wasn’t her fault that she couldn’t resist sleeping.

“Well, after Nee-sama finished her own dress the night before the banquet, she had been drawing dress designs for the ladies she gets along well in the embroidery class until late, after all.”

“…Emma?”

William tattled on Emma while pulling out many dress designs on her study desk. All those stares hurt.

“M-Mother, that, everyone gets along really well with me and has been taking care of me. And more than anything, everyone has their own charms, so thinking of the designs was so fun… that I…”

The stress accumulated from not being able to do the things she wanted because her time was taken by the etiquette class exploded at that time.

“Ah, but this one will totally look great on Marion-sama, don’t you think?”

George picked up one of the designs and showed it to the family.

A black one-shoulder dress with large flower decoration on the shoulder, further embellished with beads and embroidery flowing from there.

“I always thought it was hard for any embroidery to look good in a black dress. But if we dye the embroidery thread with that ink, we can get the color that won’t lose to the black fabric.”

“For the decoration on the shoulder, we should make artificial flowers that will look close to a real fresh bouquet. And, if we dye this flower with the same color as the embroidery thread, it will give an overall sense of unity…”

“Nice idea! Nii-sama! I will take that!”

“Also, stitch the embroidery flowers in a way to make it lifelike… The beads, too, perhaps will be more beautiful if we stud a lot of small ones rather than using large ones.”

“Yes, Father. But if we use small beads, they won’t really stand out on the black dress, right?”

“Then, might as well color the beads with the ink? If we can control the color, I suppose we can add a touch of unity and gorgeousness by arranging the beads in gradation?”

“Nice! William! For our uses in the future, it may be good to discuss it with Harold-san whether it is possible to produce a glossy color or not.”

“Then, Emma and I are in charge of choosing the black fabric and tailoring the dress, George is in charge of the flower decoration, Leonard will do the embroidery, and William the beads.”

“Then next, let’s go through the twins’ matching dre…ss…!?”

” ” ” “Yes!!” ” ” “

Forgetting about the main subject, the whole family got too worked up about Emma’s dress designs.

Emma had caused a big distraction accident.

Everyone had unconsciously strayed towards the fun stuff and escaped reality.

“…………Ah. Emma? From when did you become able to speak Imperial Japanese(?) language?”

Leonard was torn for a moment whether to continue the talk about dress designs just like this or not, but thinking that he shouldn’t leave the situation last night unexplained, he brought the topic back to the right track.

‘Haahh,’ Emma sighed and replied as if she already resigned to her fate.

“Imperial Japanese language, you see… as far as I can hear, was Japanese. The imperial dishes served at the banquet were also like Japanese food. I was only able to eat the rolled omelet, but… it tasted like kombu dashi and was very delicious.”

Emma once again recalled the taste of rolled omelet she hadn’t had for a long time in a daze. The rolled omelet left a stronger impression on her than the fact that Imperial Japanese was Japanese.

“Eh!? Then, could there be rice? Do they also have rice?”

“How about soy sauce?”

“O-Or something like miso soup!”

George, Melsa, and William leaned forward excitedly once they heard ‘Japanese food.’

“I had only seen the appetizer, so I don’t know about rice or soy sauce, but they have miso.”

‘Grilled eggplant with miso paste… Oh, how I wanted to eat it…’ Emma became a little sad after thinking about it.

“Miso soup! Yay!”

George and William high-fived as they were joyed that there was their missed miso.

“If there is miso, I can make not only miso soup but also simmered mackerel with miso, miso udon, and meat miso stir fry.”

(T/N: simmered mackerel with miso, miso udon, meat miso stir fry)

Melsa began listing her specialty dishes in their past life.

“Ah, I want to eat! I want to eat mackerel… mi…so? …!?”

” ” ” “Yeah!!!” ” ” “
