CH 51.2

Both children poked their little bodies out, wanting Twain to hold them.

The elder brother tried to hold both children at the same time, but it’s very uncomfortable!

Twain’s large stature made it easy for him to hold both children effortlessly, ensuring their stability and comfort.

After Huo Lin handed over the two children, he explained the situation to Twain: “They played the whole day today and were too tired. They fell asleep in the car and just woke up. I was about to take them to eat.”

“You’ve been taking care of them all day and must be tired. I’ll take over from here.”

Twain glanced at Huo Lin’s expression and didn’t let him continue taking care of the children. Taking care of two energetic children for a whole day was no easy task.

Huo Lin didn’t insist either and turned back to the room.

Twain changed the route back to the bedroom and took the two children to the dining room.

Soon enough.

With Twain’s care, both children finished their meal. The chubby child tilted his face, asking Uncle Twain to wipe his face.

“It’s getting late; let’s go take a bath and sleep.”

Twain didn’t say much, but the two children in his arms had a lot to say. He just needed to patiently listen to them, occasionally answering their childish questions.

In the bathroom.

Twain had his upper body bare as he bathed the little children and himself.

“Look, Wagner!”

The chubby child pointed at the scars on Twain’s body. His eyes widened. “Uncle Twain has many medals!”

Twain: “?”

Twain didn’t understand. “What medals?”

The chubby child reached out and touched the scars on Twain’s body, earnestly explaining, “Dad said these are medals for protecting the children!”

Before, when Zhang Xi was carrying the two children, he was injured by the Zerg and had a fierce scar on his body, which made Ningning teary-eyed.

In order to calm the child down, Zhang Xi had to make up stories and say that it was a medal. He explained that it was something that dads could have, and it was something to be proud of.

Twain listened to his explanation, but didn’t know what to say.

He wasn’t as good as Ludwig in communicating with the children, but there was no doubt that, like Ludwig, he had a lot of patience with the two children.

After playing enough in the bathroom, the children were wrapped in towels and placed on the bed.

Twain was about to dress them when suddenly there was a flash of fire outside the window.

The next second.

His door was knocked, and the urgent voice of the guards sounded at the door, “Marshal, there’s an emergency! General Noz and his troops have surrounded this place!”

General Noz was the second in command of the Federation.

If Twain were to be overthrown, the position of marshal would rightfully be his. However, Twain had been having frequent mental problems in recent years, and his control over the Federation was not as strong as before.

General Noz’s ambitions had unknowingly grown to the current extent.

Twain had no time to dress the two children in cartoon pajamas. He grabbed the two closest white shirts and put one on each child.

The shirts were too big for the little children.

Even the little chubby child’s shoulders were exposed, and the shirt’s hem completely covered his little feet.

“You two follow Caesar. Don’t run around or make any noise.”

Twain carried the two children out and handed them to Huo Lin, who happened to be running over. “Caesar, take them away, leave the Federation.”

Twain could handle the Federation’s coup, but his recent physical condition made him unwilling to gamble with the children around.

In case he lost control, all three of these children in front would suffer.

Over the years, Twain had seen many storms and hardships. He quickly arranged manpower to escort Huo Lin and the others away.

And he stayed here.

Wagner watched his father’s figure and didn’t want to leave. “I want to stay with Dad!”

A strong sense of unease surged in Wagner’s heart. His intuition told him that if he left his father like this, he would likely lose him.

Wagner’s struggle slowed down Huo Lin’s pace.

Twain was negotiating with the rebels ahead. This negotiation didn’t go smoothly. In just a few minutes, Marshal Twain’s mental power swept through the entire area.

After sensing his mental power, Huo Lin’s expression changed abruptly.

Marshal Twain’s mental power level was very strong, definitely at the SS+ level. If such mental power was to lose control, the consequences would be extremely terrifying.

Wagner also sensed his father’s mental power.

He didn’t let Huo Lin carry him and run. “Put me down! I want to go find Dad!”

In order to hold on to the struggling Wagner, Huo Lin put the chubby child on the ground and let him follow along. The chubby child on the ground clutched the dragging clothes with one hand and held his brother’s clothes with the other.

He had a bewildered and frightened expression, too scared to even speak.

Huo Lin’s guards were on high alert, guarding the surroundings and eliminating danger. Auben had already killed two rebels.

Everything was in chaos.

The chubby child ran a few steps with his brother, but then stopped. “Brother, I don’t want to go.”

Huo Lin held onto Wagner. It was already difficult holding the other, and his expression darkened when he saw another child who didn’t want to go. “Ningning, listen to me.”

Reprimanded by his brother, Ningning turned around and glanced in the direction behind them.

He spoke with a panicky voice, but still said, “Uncle Twain, his head hurts.”

When Huo Lin heard this, he suddenly realized the little child’s intentions.

He held Wagner with one hand and tightly grasped the little child’s hand, speaking in a tone that brooked no refusal, “Ningning, we’re going back.”

“Your dad is still waiting for you. Have you forgotten what your dad told you?!”

In the last sentence, Huo Lin’s voice was filled with anger.

He didn’t want this little child to do any more heroic acts, even if the person in need was Wagner’s dad. Huo Lin wasn’t such a great person, and he couldn’t do something that great!

What did the life and death of others have to do with him? What did it have to do with this little child?

In that moment, Huo Lin desperately wished the little child was just an ordinary and unremarkable child!

But the little child knew he wasn’t ordinary. He looked at Wagner, who was struggling so hard his face turned red, then turned to look in Uncle Twain’s direction once again.

If he went with his brother, Wagner wouldn’t have a dad anymore.

Just as Huo Lin and the two little children were at a deadlocke, the star communicator in his pocket rang. It was a communication from Ludwig.

After discovering the situation here, Huo Lin reported it to his father.

A federal coup would also affect the Empire.

But upon receiving the news, Ludwig’s first thought was to have Caesar take Ningning away.

A coup meant Twain had to suppress it forcefully, and if he started using his mental powers, the probability of losing control would reach 99%!

If the little child stayed with him, he would undoubtedly use his healing abilities without hesitation.

This child was too young and too innocent. He didn’t understand what selfishness meant, nor did he understand how to choose between sacrificing others and preserving oneself.

Ludwig had already given orders to Mans, who was closest to the Federation.

He commanded Mans to bring Caesar and Ningning back safely in the shortest possible time, and if Wagner was also present, he could bring him back as well.

This was the agreement between Ludwig and Twain.

“Ningning, come back with me.”

Huo Lin suppressed his emotions and tried to take the little child away. “Uncle Twain doesn’t need you. We’ll leave with Wagner first, and Uncle Twain will come find us later.”

Such persuasion couldn’t fool the little child.

Twain’s mental power was looming, and although he intended to control it, in the current situation, he couldn’t possibly restrain his mental power any longer.

Wagner, who rarely cried, had tears streaming down his face, while the usually cry-prone little child remained silent this time.

“Wagner.”

The little child let go of his brother’s hand and held onto Wagner’s hand, saying to him, “Don’t cry. I’ll accompany you to find your dad.”

Meanwhile.

Noz looked at the once invincible marshal, now pale-faced, struggling with his own mental power. Mockery gleamed in his eyes.

“Twain, are you even afraid to fully release your mental power now? What a waste! With you like this, what capital do you have to rule the Federation?”

Survival of the fittest, that’s the unchanging law of the interstellar era.

Twain slightly closed his eyes, calming his breath. He made every effort to control his mental power, preventing it from completely spiraling out of control.

Not far away, Noz continued to mock him.

If it were in the past, during the period of his stable mental power, this person would never dare to be so audacious in front of him.

He waited silently.

As soon as Wagner and the others left this place, he would fulfill Noz’s wish and release his mental power completely. The Federation could be entrusted to ambitious people, but not to those too despicable.

One second, two seconds, he calculated in his mind the time it would take for the children to leave.

However, he didn’t have to calculate for too long.

Two children, both dressed in white, pounced towards him, one after the other. The one at the front, Wagner, cried out, “Daddy!”

The little child behind Wagner, with its small, pale shoulders exposed, took a few steps but tripped on his overly long clothing, falling with a thud.

The fallen child got up, bravely holding onto his clothes, and continued walking with chubby little legs. From a distance, he looked just like a baby penguin.

Twain’s composed expression faded when he saw the children.

He sternly said, “Wagner, leave this place!”

Wagner refused to leave.

Not only Wagner, but the little child behind him also refused to leave.

Huo Lin followed behind them, speaking to General Mans through communication, “How much longer until you arrive?”

General Mans, who had been awakened by an urgent order in the middle of the night, didn’t appear displeased. On the contrary, he was interested in the Federation’s coup.

“Your Highness Caesar, hold on for another half an hour,” Mans replied in a calm tone.

Mans spoke casually and even asked a few extra questions, “Your Highness, do you think we would have a good chance of winning if we declared war against them during their coup?”

Huo Lin: “...”

Huo Lin remained expressionless. “Father would not agree with your suggestion.”

A faint smile appeared on Mans’ lips as he casually replied, “I was just speaking casually.”

Mans still had half an hour until he arrived, and Huo Lin’s mind was racing at high speed. During this half an hour, he had to keep a close eye on the children.

Twain was still able to maintain control over himself.

But Noz’s provocation was like winding up a clock, relentless and irritating.

He mentioned Wagner and the unfamiliar child sitting at Twain’s feet, saying, “Twain, losing control in front of the children must be a spectacular sight, right?”

“If you don’t want to harm them, put away all your mental powers now and surrender.”

Though Noz’s words were not easy to understand in the ears of the little child, with some effort, the general meaning could still be discerned.

The little child understood. This bad person wanted Uncle Twain not to use mental powers and be captured obediently.

He was furious. “You’re dreaming!”

He wouldn’t let Uncle Twain be captured!

Wagner, this irritable child, always acted well-behaved in front of his dad and didn’t get angry with Ningning, but he’s not very gentle either.

“Shameless!”

Wagner hugged Dad and directly started cursing at Noz. Every time he cursed, the child sitting below would follow along.

“Shameless!”

The two children, one leading and the other repeating like a tape recorder, made Noz’s expression instantly turn ugly.

After sitting for a while, Ningning opened his arms to Don. “Uncle Twain, carry Ningning!”

The child stopped swearing.

The child had to work now!
