Chapter 6: Who’s the more wronged?

Shen Mingxuan really wanted to split open this woman’s head and prove to everyone how vicious and scheming she was. He did not believe that she had gotten amnesia after she had been hit by the captain. Bai Qingqing must be deliberately pretending to have lost her memories to deceive others but even Fu Chen was playing along, taking the part of the good brother rather seriously.

Bai Qingqing felt better when she saw Shen Mingxuan’s anger. Cheng Rui glanced at his teammate and silently agreed with what Bai Qingqing had said; Shen Mingxuan’s appearance was so soft and beautiful it could hardly match the strong man he knew. When he had been a child, many people had thought of him as a girl.

“Bai Qingqing!” Shen Mingxuan took a step forward, his handsome yet delicate face particularly gloomy. Bai Qingqing went to hide behind Cheng Rui, revealing innocent and sincere eyes, and said: “He’s not going to hit me, is he? Cheng Rui, help me block him, I will go find my brother.”

Bai Qingqing was a member of the Thunder Squad, Fu Chen’s “sister” and had a portable space. She was not as big of a burden as before, not only was she not dragging them down, she was also quite useful. Cheng Rui could not let Shen Mingxuan hurt her, his expression darkened and he told him: “Shen Mingxuan, don’t be so petty.”

Had he not provoked Bai Qingqing first, she would not have attacked back with her words.

The atmosphere in the kitchen was tense and Liang Zhiyu and Xiao Yang, who had heard the dispute outside, came over.

“What happened?”

Bai Tiantian rushed over, grabbed Shen Mingxuan’s hand, and said with some nervosity: “Brother Mingxuan, my sister didn’t mean it. Don’t blame her.”

Bai Qingqing was aware that she would have to pretend to be both green tea and white lotus in order to do her task, but she could not help but bow down to the kind-faced Bai Tiantian. In one sentence, she could convince everyone Bai Qingqing was making trouble again. Although her original body had been used to mess with the team, as her younger sister, shouldn’t she figure out the situation before pleading for her?

Bai Qinqing glanced at her unenthusiastically and said: “I only said a few words and he got angry.”

Shen Mingxuan did not really want to make a huge scene because of his looks. He coldly looked at her, threw his hands back, and went to his bedroom, leaving a confused group of people behind. Liang Zhiyu frowned slightly and turned to leave too.

Bai Tiantian blushed and bit her lip before saying: “Cheng Rui, Xiao Yang, I have something to say to Qingqing. Could you leave us alone?”

Both men did not try to warn her as they had done in the past and glanced at Bai Qingqing instead and her bandaged arm before walking back to the living room.

Bai Qingqing was really curious and waited for Bai Tiantian to talk to her rather eagerly.

“Qingqing.” Bai Tiantian hesitated for a moment, “Actually, you are my sister. You…”

Fu Chen embraced the woman buried in his arms and entered the bedroom before closing the door behind them.

“Raise your head and let me see.” Fu Chen’s voice was cold.

Bai Qingqing acted her part perfectly, her big black eyes filled with tears she was trying hard to suppress, her wronged appearance heartbreaking.

Fu Chen softened his voice: “Why didn’t I know you were a crybaby? Tell your brother what happened.”

“I…” Bai Qingqing was about to share her grievance but hiccuped at the same time. She blushed, looking both pitiful and funny.

Fu Chen: “…”

The group stayed in Jiang City for three days, collected all the materials they needed, and rushed to the next destination across the bridge. In the RV, Bai Qingqing sat cross-legged on the couch and continued to paint with her good hand.

Lang Zhiyu, who had just came down from the second floor, saw a modified car on the paper, with two men and a slender woman standing on its roof. Under the starry night sky, the three of them were bathed in the silver glow of the bright moon. They were looking at the scenery together, while the windows of the car were slightly lighted up, looking particularly warm in the quiet night. It was a very moving work.

In the last days, the living conditions were harsh and humans fought monsters every day to survive. Even sheltering in a doomsday base did not give anyone a sense of security yet this drawing was somehow peaceful.

Bai Qingqing felt that some lines were wrong and kept changing it. She bit her pen in annoyance and a warm voice came to her ears: “Twenty degrees left.”

Bai Qingqing tilted her head to look at the man standing not far away and asked: “You can draw?”

She already knew the personalities and life stories of the five men of the Thunder Squad and was aware Liang Zhiyu had loved painting since he was a child. But due to family reasons, he had to give up his long-time hobby and become a doctor. Bai Qingqing had once studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and in this apocalyptic world, drawing skills were completely useless. When they were all trying to survive, who needed to paint?

Liang Zhiyu had a very good impression of her painting and his attitude was gentle yet a little alienated: “I learned when I was younger.”

“What do you think of this?” Bai Qingqing picked up the drawing and handed it to him, “I think it’s not perfect yet. Can you help me out?”

Liang Zhiyu sat down on the nearest couch and looked down at the painting before returning it to her.

The RV reached the highway in the late afternoon, and the next rest area was only a hundred kilometers away. After the world had come, those rest stops had been deserted.

The building had a total of two floors, the windows and doors were broken, and there were many abandoned broken cars in the huge parking lot but there were no zombies around.

For safety, Fu Chen and Cheng Rui went first to confirm it was indeed empty. The rest of the team’s members left the car and got ready to go inside the store to gather any available supplies. Even if there had been zombies in this place, to begin with, they would have either starved to death or fled to the city to hunt for food.

Bai Qingqing was eager to fill her space again and ran inside. After only two steps, Fu Chen stopped her.

This rest stop was very large. The shelves were empty but the inside warehouse was still locked and looked as it had never been opened. Cheng Rui kicked open this door with pure strength and several terrifying zombies pounced out before being neatly killed by himself and Xiao Yang.

When Bai Qingqing looked at all the things in the warehouse, stars appeared in her eyes. Food was survival during the apocalypse and she hurriedly searched for all kinds of dry and wet food that had not expired yet.

Fu Chen watched her happily collect her supplies and followed her, just like he had last time, supervising her safety.

Halfway through her search, Bai Qingqing suddenly stopped and Fu Chen got closer to ask: “What’s wrong?”

With distress, she answered: “My space is full.”

Her portable space might have been a thousand square meters, it was still too little. She had already grabbed all kinds of materials and supplies in Jiang City, now she had no room left and needed to upgrade it to continue stuffing things in it. She could get things frantically without using money yet couldn’t carry it and she couldn’t help feeling a little bit depressed about it.

Fu Chen frowned: “No more room?”

“Yeah.” Bai Qingqing raised her head to look at him, “My space needs to be upgraded.”

Fu Chen naturally understood what she meant; everyone with an ability needed to eat crystal cores to evolve, whether it was a lighting power or portable space. The crystal cores the Thunder Squad came across were evenly divided; which was why despite having no combat ability, Bai Tiantian’s space was already level two. However, the end of days was currently in the early stages and crystal cores were still rather rare.

Fu Chen had killed a Third-Order zombie in the parking lot last time and happened to have grabbed its core, which could have been considered his. He took it out and handed it to her: “Here, you can have this.”

Bai Qingqing had not expected Fu Chen would directly give her the core. With surprise in her eyes, she asked: “Brother, are you really giving it to me?”

Fu Chen felt that she was happy and his voice became softer: “Take it, you can eat it later to upgrade.”

His tone was calm, like he was giving her a piece of candy instead of a precious crystal core. Bai Qinqging happily accepted, joy filling her just thinking about being able to get more room in her portable space.

Once everyone was done, they stepped out of the warehouse and came face to face with a group of people who had appeared out of nowhere. Fu Chen stopped and hid Bai Qingqing behind him before narrowing his eyes.

“Stand still!” The leader shouted coldly and his men pointed guns at the Thunder Squad’s members, a fierce light in their eyes.
