CH 37.3

At nine o’clock in the morning, all the kindergarten students gathered in the playground to do morning exercises. Ye Ya was short and naturally was placed in the first row.

They danced “Animal Imitation Exercise”, and after the brisk prelude, the song sounded.

“Little golden fish, swim and swim, wag your tail and nod, nod, nod, wag your tail and swim…”

“Little peacock, so pretty…”

Ye Ya had just joined kindergarten and did not have time to learn morning exercises. She followed the leading dance teacher and twisted her butt awkwardly. She waved her arm for a second and stopped for another. She only turned after the children next to her finished turning. Her small body was always half a beat slower than others.

“That’s a new student in Teacher Liu’s class, right?” The leading dance teachers talked in a low voice, “She’s so cute.”

The little girl tied her hair into three tugs today. She herself was bouncing and twisting around in a small skirt. Because she was exquisite and beautiful, she was even more eye-catching than others when she started to dance.

Hearing that the students were praising, Teacher Liu was inexplicably proud.

The morning exercises ended quickly, and after the break, the first class of the day officially started.

The first class was music class.

This was Ye Ya’s favorite.

She arranged the textbooks neatly in advance, straightened her spine, and put her small hands on the table. The only thing she was missing was writing the word “excited” directly on her face.

Teacher Liu sat in front of the piano, “Let’s learn to sing “Little Donkey” today.”

Hearing that it was “Little Donkey,” Ye Ya’s shoulders drooped, and the other children were also unhappy.

“Teacher, teacher, I want to listen to Peter Pan!”

“Don’t do “Little donkey!””

“I don’t want to listen to “Little Donkey!” I want to listen to Dudu!”

“…”

Twitter, twitter.

All the twittering made Teacher Liu’s head big, “Okay, then what do you want to sing to, children?”

“Super Flying Man!”

“The Little Fairy, Change!”

Different voices rose up one after another, and just as she was  about to go crazy, Teacher Liu’s gaze stayed on Ye Ya in the first row. She raised her hand and waited obediently for the teacher to call on her.

Teacher Liu’s heart melted, “Yaya, come on, tell the teacher what do you want to sing?”

Ye Ye sat up from the small chair, “I want to listen to “Mom’s Day”.”

Hm?

“Is this a song?” Teacher Liu asked in confusion.

“Yes.” Ye Ya nodded with certainty, “The song was written by my mother. She is very gentle and she sings it to me every day.”

When it came to her mother, her whole body was glowing, and her eyes were filled with deep and sincere love for her mother.

Teacher Liu really hadn’t heard this song before, but seeing the child looking forward to it, it was hard to refuse.

“Then… Does Yaya want to come up and sing to the teacher?”

Ye Ya nodded and walked to the front.

More than a dozen little carrot heads all raised their faces high and waited for Ye Ya to sing. Her ears were slightly red and she was a little embarrassed.

“Yaya, don’t be shy, everyone will listen to your singing.”

The teacher’s encouragement made Ye Ya feel better. She grabbed the corner of her clothes, took a deep breath and opened her mouth. The child’s clear and soft voice echoed around:

“I am a monster deep in the mountains. I fight during the day and eat at night.”

Okay, it sounds normal.

Teacher Liu played on the piano and accompanied her.

Ye Ya’s little head moved gently to the rhythm, “What to eat? What to eat?” She stretched out her finger like her mother, “Firstly the ones who love to laugh…”

The child who was giggling at the table froze with a smile.

“Then the ones who love to cry.”

“?”

Is this song for real?!

Teacher Liu’s hand trembled when she played the piano. Whose mother would teach her child to sing this kind of song in reality? It hadn’t been broadcast on TV either. Even though she was confused, Teacher Liu did not interrupt and continued to listen to her sing.

Ye Ya sang a little out of tune, but still seriously, “Sprinkle some salt, turn around, add some sugar.” She squatted down and raised her arms and jumped fiercely, with a cheerful tune, “It’s time to finish it in one bite!”

Ye Ya shook her head and sang the last sentence, “I am a monster deep in the mountains. I fight during the day and eat at night; Oh no, oh no, that’s not enough; oh no, oh no, I’m not full…”

The accompaniment stopped abruptly, and the air suddenly solidified.

Teacher Liu stared at the whole class with a cold sweat on her forehead, for fear that the children would all cry out.

After five seconds of silence——

“Wow~~~~~~~~~~~”

The room was full of admiration.

Clap, clap, clap——

The applause was crisp and deafening.

Ye Ya greeted the shining eyes of the children all over the room and bowed humbly, “I’m done singing.” She obediently sat back in her seat.

“Teacher teacher, teach us to sing this!!”

“I want to sing this!!!”

“Teacher, I want to sing “Mom’s Day”!”

“Teacher teacher……”

The children are chirping even more loudly than before.

Teacher Liu’s face went numb; how could she teach this!

In the end, it was the bell that helped Teacher Liu solve this embarrassing situation. As recess started, the little peas were all surrounding Ye Ya, eager to learn to sing with her. Ye Ya was not a stingy monster, so she patted her chest and promised to teach them all.

Teacher Liu looked at Ye Ya’s private lesson in silence, sighing wearily.

—-Forget it, kids are like this. They’ll probably forget it tomorrow.

It was finally lunch time. Today they were served sweet and sour pork ribs and tofu soup. The teacher handed out all the meals and started to take care of the students.
