“What?!”

Everyone cried out under their breaths upon hearing those words.

Xue Lan looked terrified for a second. He remembered this kind of storyline.

After “Xue Lan” arrived at the training camp, he became more unscrupulous. Even though he was recognized and sneered at by everyone in the new student registration center, he still publicly confessed to Wen Yan again. In the end, not only did it worsen Wen Yan’s abhorrence toward him, but he was also prohibited to participate in the first points match by Manager Ke.

Looking at it now, even if there was a butterfly effect, that he did not make a public confession to Wen Yan, he could not avoid this plot.

“Since everyone is not punished, why is he the only one punished?”

Xue Lan’s head was in the clouds when Duan Wenzheng’s cold laugh pulled him back to reality. These words also drew everyone’s attention to Duan Wenzheng.

“Do you disagree with my arrangement?”

Xue Lan had resigned to such punishment, but he did not expect Duan Wenzheng to brazenly refute Manager Ke’s words.

He quickly extended his hand, furtively pulling the hem of Duan Wenzheng’s outer clothing, signaling Duan Wenzheng not to say anything because of him.

But it was as if Duan Wenzheng did not notice his hint. He casually said, “Of course.”

“You?!”

Xue Lan did not dare to look at Manager Ke’s expression. He gripped Duan Wenzheng’s hem and tugged again.

Surprisingly, this time Duan Wenzheng not only did not pretend not to notice, but he also grabbed his hand. “If you pull again… my shirt will fall.”

Duan Wenzheng’s voice was very soft, but Xue Lan’s fingers went rigid following his words.

Duan Wenzheng turned and held his wrist. He gently said, “The one who started the computer without authorization was me.”

“You?!”

Xue Lan was struck dumb. He pulled Duan Wenzheng and rushed to speak before Manager Ke lost his temper. “Manager Ke, I’m willing to accept the punishment, don’t involve anyone else.”

“Reset? You think I didn’t notice you were late? You’re late on the first day of registration. Demerited once.” Manager Ke then huffed before turning his head to look at the other people. “What are you all looking at, go turn on the computer and prepare for the first points match!”

Everyone quickly scrambled away and looked for a computer. They sat down and prepared for the match to start.

Only then did Xue Lan feel relieved and signaled Duan Wenzheng to hurry and join the points match.

However, Duan Wenzheng merely raised his eyebrows. He lowered his eyes and studied Xue Lan who looked as if nothing had happened. “You’ll just let him deduct all of your points?”

Xue Lan saw he was still worried about his points and couldn’t help feeling moved.

“I’m fine.” Xue Lan said in a small voice, “Losing one game isn’t much, hurry and go, don’t worry about me.”

Xue Lan then withdrew from the training room. He silently stood in front of the glazed windows watching those who were preparing for the game. Seeing that Duan Wenzheng still hadn’t moved, he waved his hand, gesturing for him to join the match.

Only then did Duan Wenzheng withdraw his gaze and found a computer nearby.

Xue Lan stood outside the door, watching Duan Wenzheng who was getting ready for the match.

“Uh… BabyCandy?”

An awkward voice pulled Xue Lan’s eyes toward the source. He turned his head in doubt to see a student standing beside him.

Seeing Xue Lan turn his head, he lowered his head and embarrassedly put a few candies into Xue Lan’s hand. “You might have forgotten me, but I’m s-sorry, I’ll clear up what I said before, and also… Thank you for earlier.”

Xue Lan was surprised.

He looked at the candies in his hand in shock and looked at the young man before him who did not dare to lift his head to look at him.

“Thank you.”

“No worries, I-I’ll go to the match.”

The person scurried back into the training room, leaving Xue Lan looking at the few candies in surprise.

Maybe this trainee only happened to have a few candies in his pocket, but this was actually the “kindness” Xue Lan never thought he would receive in the training camp.

As if it were a treasure, he put the candies in his pocket.

The moment he lifted his head, he saw Duan Wenzheng looking at him.

He looked like an absent-minded student getting caught by the teacher as he quickly stood properly.

But Duan Wenzheng still had an indifferent expression. As if nothing happened, he turned his eyes away.

At the same time, at the staircase in the corner behind the training room—

“Why did you stop that showdown?!” A young man’s low voice was filled with unhidden fury. “I clearly would’ve won!”

“Win?” Manager Ke stopped in his tracks. He sneered. “You think you’d win?”

“Of course!” Deng Ruiqiu clenched his fists. “His shot wouldn’t kill me, as long as I—”

“Wouldn’t kill you?” Manager Ke seemed to have heard a joke. He dropped his smiling facade and coldly said, “Don’t tell me you didn’t see that his account only has the level but nothing else? You’ll feel honored winning against that kind of account?”

Deng Ruiqiu was dumbfounded.

“Even if you didn’t notice, did you not see that he fired that lost shot not to exchange fires with you but to fire a headshot?!”

Deng Ruiqiu’s pupils suddenly shrank.

The probability of a headshot in Dawn of the Apocalypse was minuscule. At such a close distance, how could someone be able to fire a headshot in a life-and-death situation…

“Play the points match well, the people from the Thunder Team have great expectations from you. As long as you get first place in the points match, after the training camp, this time they will double the contract price they offered you. The assaulters here are average, as for that Xue Lan…”

Manager Ke patted his shoulder. With a meaningful glance, he looked at him. Without looking back he returned to the training room.
