Chapter 9: A Cup of Hot Water

Around 4 a.m., Zhou Mushi forced himself to sleep until 10:30 a.m in the morning when he couldn’t sleep anymore. Zhou Mushi laying flat on the bed , did a simple wash-up, and checked out of the room.

Despite not having eaten much since last night until now, and not feeling very hungry, he still bought himself some soft bread and a cup of hot milk tea, and boarded the bus back to school.

The ride wasn’t very long, just enough time to finish the milk tea slowly. Zhou Mushi rushed out of the bus and ran to a nearby hidden spot, opened the plastic bag containing the bread in his hand, and started vomiting.

He was originally just dry heaving and couldn’t vomit anything, but unexpectedly, he actually vomited some of the milk tea today.

After vomiting a few times, he couldn’t stop vomiting, and when everything in his stomach was emptied, tears came out of his eyes and he finally felt a little better.

Zhou Mushi straightened up, dealt with the things in the plastic bag in his hand, wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes with a tissue, took a deep breath, and then walked towards the school.

Zhou Mushi don’t know what happened, but he doesn’t usually get motion sickness.

Originally, he hadn’t slept well and stayed up all night. His stomach was also very empty, causing him to feel both hungry and nauseous, and a feeling of life being overdrawn, which made him extremely uncomfortable.

He really wanted to eat something, but now he was feeling extremely nauseous, and he would have to take another bus soon. This was too much trouble, so he decided to just stay hungry and endure this wave of nausea before deciding what to do next.

Fortunately, it was just the beginning of winter break and the school had not yet completely closed. He went up to pack his things, rummaging through drawers and cabinets. Then, he sorted and organized everything he found in the abandoned suitcase under his bed, and put them all together in one place. He then walked down the alley and out of the school gate, heading straight to the second-hand market.

Selling items on second-hand online marketplaces is also possible, but the seller finds it a bit troublesome. Although the prices might be slightly lower due to the competition, it doesn’t matter much since the items are already priced very low.

Although the items in his hands are second-hand goods, they are all the highest configurations. He unlocks them one by one with his own fingerprints and clears the photo albums in front of the buyer to prove that they are not someone else’s things. This makes the buyer feel at ease.

Most of these electronic devices, plus two cases, are usually sold at a final price of 70% off.

Zhou Mushi touched his bank card and felt warm in his heart. He never expected that the items he moved out could be sold for nearly 100,000 yuan, which showed how much he had wasted before.

After coming out of the second-hand market, it was already afternoon and he was very hungry. However, he dared not eat any random food outside. The cup of milk tea he had a few hours ago was already hard to bear. He had to take the bus later, so he gave up on eating.

By the time he got home, it was already completely dark outside.

The house was clean and tidy, and even the air was clean and fresh. It didn’t look like it had just been hosting a group of people yesterday.

Jin Yang sat on the sofa holding his laptop, staring at the screen with a serious expression. When he heard the sound of the door opening, he habitually greeted him, saying, “You’re back.”

“En,” Zhou Mushi replied, taking off his disposable mask and throwing it into the trash can next to him.

Jin Yang got up and picked up the hot water kettle from the coffee table. He added half a cup of hot water to the half cup of cold water, stirring the cold and hot water together to create a lukewarm temperature that was perfect to drink. He stretched out his arm and handed the cup to Zhou Mushi, saying in a gentle tone, “It’s really cold outside today. Drink some hot water to warm up.”
