Chapter 3: Need a kiss to make it better

Fu Chenyan clearly paused for a moment.

Husband? Is she calling him?

Fu Chenyan raised an eyebrow. “What are you calling me?” he asked.

“Calling you husband,” Ling Tian said in a sweet and tender voice. Seeing that he was still standing by the French windows, she pouted and said, “Husband, why are you so far away from me? Come over here quickly.”

Fu Chenyan remained silent for two seconds before walking towards her.

As she watched him approach, Ling Tian’s eyes lit up with a sparkling light.

Fu Chenyan walked to the side of her bed and looked down at her without saying a word.

This face before him was truly beautiful, with full collagen and a freshness like a just-peeled lychee in early summer. Her lips had regained their blood color, and her almond-shaped eyes were bright and clear like the morning dew.

Her gaze was pure and clear, open and honest. When it met his, there was no evasion, and the longing in the corners of her eyes and eyebrows was almost palpable.

Fu Chenyan withdrew his gaze calmly.

Before Ling Tian woke up, the doctors had given her a comprehensive examination. Her body had several abrasions, but the wounds were not serious and had been treated. She had suffered a mild concussion from the impact to her head.

Had she lost her memory? Did she mistake him for her husband? Did she already have someone she loved?

“Husband, my head hurts.” Ling Tian pointed to her own head and acted like a spoiled child towards Fu Chenyan, “I need a kiss to make it better.”

She realized that she had lost many details about Fu Chenyan from her memory. Whenever she tried to piece together those scattered fragments, her head would ache as if it were about to split open.

However, she remembered clearly that Fu Chenyan loved her. He loved her to death. Whenever she said one thing, he never answered with two. Whenever she pointed to the east, he never went west.

He promised to always cherish her and treat her well for the rest of his life.

Ling Tian looked up at Fu Chenyan, waiting for his kiss.

She obviously didn’t think it was a presumptuous request.

As their gazes met, an indescribable emotion flickered through Fu Chenyan’s eyes. After a brief moment of silence, he leaned down slowly towards her.

The woody scent emanating from him was refreshing, like a solitary and tall cedar in the wilderness. It flowed calmly towards her, wrapping around the tip of her nose, inexplicably making Ling Tian feel at ease.

She closed her eyes, feeling a warm sensation on her forehead.

Ling Tian slowly opened her eyes and met Fu Chenyan’s gaze. His eyelids were narrow and thin, his pupils were black and serene, like a bottomless abyss that could suck her in.

For some reason, Ling Tian’s heart suddenly beat faster, as if something sweet was fermenting in her heart, and a hint of blush appeared on her cheeks.

“Does it still hurt?” Fu Chenyan asked in a low voice, his voice deep and mellow, like the beautiful melody of a cello.

A faint dimple formed at the corner of Ling Tian’s lips, she shook her head lightly and said, “It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Fu Chenyan straightened up and suddenly, Ling Tian hugged him, her snow-white hands tightly wrapped around his waist, her eyes reddening, and her eyes quickly filled with mist.

Fu Chenyan: “What’s wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?”

He reached out to press the call button on the bedside.

Ling Tian stopped him and shook her head.

“I just suddenly felt a bit scared,” she took a deep breath and looked up at him, “If that car had been a bit faster, I might have died on the spot, and never have seen you again.”

If she had been unfortunately killed in the accident, Fu Chenyan would be devastated because of how much he loved her.

Additionally, her parents wouldn’t be able to withstand such a blow.

Thanks to her good fortune.

Her beautiful eyes were filled with mist, making her look helpless and eliciting a protective feeling from others.

Fu Chenyan raised his hand and paused in mid-air for half a second before gently wiping away the tears in the corner of her eyes with his fingertip, and said softly, “Don’t be afraid, everything is fine now. Be sure to pay attention to safety in the future.”

“I will,” Ling Tian nodded earnestly, “I won’t look down at my phone while crossing the street again.”

In her current memory, she was hit by a car because she was busy replying to a WeChat message from Si Qin and didn’t pay attention to the road when crossing.

“Oh, by the way, husband, I forgot to tell you,” Ling Tian blinked lightly and blushed slightly, “you looked very handsome at the opening ceremony of Suhe Mall today.”

Fu Chenyan: “Hmm?”

Ling Tian smiled, her eyes and eyebrows curved: “I secretly went to the venue to see you, but you didn’t notice me.”

Fu Chenyan: “You were at the venue?”

Ling Tian nodded: “Yeah.”

She was sure that she was at the scene at that time, although she missed many details, but she remembered clearly what Fu Chenyan looked like standing among the crowd – noble, calm, elegant, and upright, he was the most attractive focus of the whole audience.

Fu Chenyan lowered his head and looked at her, his eyes falling into her sweet gaze, his lips curved imperceptibly.

“Buzz -” The phone placed on the coffee table vibrated.

Ling Tian released her hands that were clinging to Fu Chenyan and whispered, “Husband, you should answer the phone.”

Fu Chenyan turned and walked to the coffee table. Just as he picked up the phone, someone pushed the door open.

Tian Tian…” Ling Wensen and Song Shuwan rushed to the bed where Ling Tian was lying, “Tian Tian, how are you?”

“Dad, Mom, you’re here.”

Song Shuwan immediately checked the injuries on Ling Tian’s body. “My baby, how could this happen? You scared us to death!”

On the way to the hospital with Ling Tian, Fu Chenyan had already notified Ling Wensen and Song Shuwan.

Upon hearing that their daughter had been in a car accident, Ling Wensen and Song Shuwan were thunderstruck and hurried to the hospital. Song Shuwan, who had always been graceful and elegant, even wore one shoe wrong when she rushed out.

Ling Tian’s skin is delicate and tender, even a slight scratch looks particularly worrying. Song Shuwan was heartbroken and couldn’t stop crying.

“Tian Tian, does it hurt?”

The Zhongsen Group just went bankrupt, and now their daughter has been in a car accident. It’s really a string of misfortunes!

However, just suffering from this minor injury can be considered fortunate in the midst of misfortune.

“I’m fine,” Ling Tian comforted her parent’s emotions, “Don’t worry, Ah Yan will take good care of me.”

“Ah Yan?”

Ling Wensen and Song Shuwan were stunned at the same time, following Ling Tian’s gaze, they finally noticed the man with an extremely strong presence.

A look of surprise crossed Ling Wensen’s face: “Mr. Fu?”

Fu Chenyan hung up an unimportant phone call, nodded slightly, and briefly greeted the two: “Chairman Ling, Madam Ling.”

Ling Wensen asked, “How come you’re here?”

Ling Tian felt strange, “I had a car accident, shouldn’t Ah Yan come?”

This sense of entitlement made Song Shuwan feel strange too, “Tian Tian, do you know this Mr. Fu?”

Ling Tian said, “What’s wrong with you, Mom? He’s my husband.”

“What husband?” Ling Wensen immediately noticed something was wrong with his daughter. “Tian Tian, did you hit your head?”

Song Shuwan’s expression also changed. She reached out to touch Ling Tian’s head and asked, “Where’s the doctor? Did you get examined? What did the doctor say?”

Ling Tian replied, “Other than a minor injury, I’m fine.”

Song Shuwan tentatively asked, “So what’s your relationship with Mr. Fu?”

Ling Tian blurted out, “He’s my husband!”

Song Shuwan’s vision went black, “Tian Tian, did you… lose your memory?”

“Don’t worry, I haven’t lost my memory,” Ling Tian was puzzled by her parents’ reaction. “I still remember you guys, and I remember everything else clearly too.”

Ling Wensen said, “You’re only 21 years old and still in college. Where did you get a husband?”

“I have one,” Ling Tian looked at Fu Chenyan with a determined expression, “Ah Yan is my husband.”

Ling Wensen sighed, “Tian Tian, let the doctor examine you first. After you’re discharged from the hospital, we’ll go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to check your marriage status.”

Hearing the mention of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Ling Tian’s mind momentarily stopped working. She inexplicably felt a panicked emotion, but soon she figured it out.

“I haven’t registered with Ah Yan, but in my heart, he is my husband. I will never marry any other man in my life except for him.”

Ling Tian looked at Ling Wensen and Song Shuwan, feeling very aggrieved. “You’ve always been against me being with Ah Yan, and even hid our household registration book, not allowing us to get married. Now you want to trick me into thinking I have amnesia, and that I have no relationship with Ah Yan, right?”

Her current cognition was confused, with mixed memories, but she could still justify it herself by filling in the missing details in her memories and making the logic consistent.

Fu Chenyan looked at Ling Tian, his eyebrows slightly raised.

Song Shuwan felt like the sky was falling down. She thought Ling Tian’s problem was not severe, but she didn’t expect that she had injured her brain.

Seeing his wife sway slightly, Ling Wensen quickly supported her with a serious expression.

Ling Tian’s car accident was notified to them by Assistant Yu, and Ling Wensen probably guessed why Fu Chenyan was here.

This car accident was related to Fu Chenyan.

Song Shuwan calmed down reluctantly and held her daughter’s hand, saying, “Tian Tian, you really have no relationship with Mr. Fu. Let’s call the doctor, otherwise it will cause trouble for Mr. Fu.”

If she really had anything with Fu Chenyan, how could Fu Yumo dare to covet her?

Ling Tian shook her head, “I don’t believe it. Ah Yan clearly likes me.”

She looked at Fu Chenyan calmly and spoke softly, with a hint of coquetry in her voice, “Husband, tell my parents.”

Ling Wensen and Song Shuwan also looked at Fu Chenyan at the same time.

Fu Chenyan was known to be not interested in women, and they were afraid that he would be annoyed by Ling Tian’s clinginess.

They were even more afraid that he would misunderstand that they were staging a play, and that the amnesia was just a trick to get close to him.

The Ling family was already forced into the abyss by Fu Yumo, and they couldn’t afford to offend the person in front of them.

Fu Chenyan’s eyebrows and eyes have always been cold and stern. At this moment, he looked at Ling Tian, but slightly curved his lips and said in a warm voice, “I really do like Tian Tian.”

It was a completely expected response, but Ling Tian’s heart suddenly felt sweet, and a faint dimple appeared at the corner of her lips.

However, Ling Wensen and Song Shuwan looked shocked: “Mr. Fu, how could you accompany her in such nonsense??”

“It’s not nonsense.” Fu Chenyan looked at Ling Wensen, “Chairman Ling, perhaps we can talk next door.”

Ling Wensen hesitated, exchanged a glance with Song Shuwan, and nodded. “Okay.”

The VIP ward was equipped with a reception room. Assistant Yu also poured tea for the two sitting on the sofa and then retreated outside the door.

In the midst of the tea mist, Ling Wensen spoke up, “Mr. Fu, I’m sorry to have troubled you. I will persuade my daughter to undergo treatment actively.”

Fu Chenyan replied, “I’m the one who should apologize, Chairman Li—”

“Don’t.” Ling Wensen interrupted with a bitter smile. “Mr. Fu, you should know that the Zhongsen Group has already gone bankrupt.”

“Mr. Ling,” Fu Chenyan readily changed his wording. “I’m sorry, I’m the one who caused the car accident.”

He took the responsibility upon himself.

Ling Wensen sighed softly, “No one wants this kind of thing to happen. I appreciate that you were able to bring Tian Tian to the hospital in time.”

“Ling Tian’s current condition is not suitable for stimulation,” Fu Chenyan said. “I will arrange for a comprehensive examination for her again. Mr. and Madam Ling, rest assured that no matter what the result is, I will take full responsibility.”

Take full responsibility? Ling Wensen looked at Fu Chenyan in surprise and suspicion.

Ling Tian’s condition was not a simple injury that could be solved with money. She had cognitive disorder. Wasn’t Fu Chenyan afraid that if Ling Tian couldn’t recover, she would be attached to him for the rest of her life?

Fu Chenyan sipped his tea leisurely and said, “But there is one thing I want to confirm first.”

Ling Wensen asked, “What?”

Fu Chenyan replied, “Does Ling Tian have someone she likes?”

Ling Wensen pondered for a moment and said, “She does have many suitors, but she has never mentioned having a special liking for any of them in front of me.”

“I see,” Fu Chenyan said. “Then could you please ask Madam Ling again? Sometimes a girl may confide her thoughts to her mother in secret.”

Ling Wensen looked at him thoughtfully and nodded after a moment, “Okay.”

In the hospital room, the medicine in the IV bag dripped quietly.

Song Shuwan put two pillows behind Ling Tian’s waist to make her more comfortable and handed her a cup of warm water, “Tian Tian, here, drink some water.”

Ling Tian took the water and spoke softly, “Thank you, Mom.”

Song Shuwan sat by the bed, looking at her and suppressing her worries. She asked softly, “Tian Tian, you said you’re in a relationship with Fu Chenyan. Can you tell Mom how you two met?”

A hint of confusion flickered in Ling Tian’s eyes, but after two seconds, she smiled slightly. “We met at the school’s anniversary celebration. Do you remember that day?”

Ling Tian was studying at Peking University, one of the top universities in China.

“I remember,” Song Shuwan nodded. Their daughter had a performance that day, and she and Wensen had both gone to watch it.

“Ah Yan donated a building to our school, and the school invited him to attend the anniversary celebration. When I went on stage, he was sitting in the VIP area below the stage. He fell in love with me at first sight and started pursuing me,” Ling Tian spoke fluently, her eyes and brows unable to hide the sweetness and shyness, showing that she was a girl in love.

“He really loves me. Even though his family didn’t approve of us being together, he almost had a falling out with them. Grandpa Fu was so angry that he ended up in the hospital,” Ling Tian added.
