C36: The Last Day (1)

Seo-joon and Man-cheol continued to dismantle the bodies.

Normally, the work would have been completed immediately, but it took a little longer to work on the monsters So-yeon killed.

Man-cheol stared at the dead body of Goblin, which So-yeon had killed, and uttered,

“Did she put an iron plate on her face? There was not much reaction.”

“Four! That’s what I expected.”

Seo Jun answered while doing squats.

Man-cheol shook his head and asked again.

“What did the organizers say?”

“Well, it’s obvious.”

Seo-joon put down goblin bodies in front of Man-cheol.

Yesterday, Seo-yoon was able to hear the answer immediately on the day when she complained to the organizers.

Contrary to the expectation that it would take about a day, it was a quick reply, and it seemed that they knew Seo-yoon was the granddaughter of the Sword Saint. Apart from that, however, the organizers’ response was not satisfactory.

The organizers said that it was impossible to determine whether the participants cheated just by the fact that people booked dungeons around him.

It was an obvious answer Seo-joon wasn’t expecting much either and he couldn’t argue either since it was just his conjecture.

Of course, anyone could know that it was not speculation unless they were fools, but it could not be denied that there was no accurate evidence.

It was because she did not cheat in the first place, but found a loophole within the rules.

“But you must have gotten their meaning.”

“She said she’d give me a warning.”

“Didn’t they spend all their money, too?”

Of course, there was a possibility, but there was no way to check it right away.

Man-cheol continued his work with an expression of disapproval.

Seo-joon disposed of the goblin’s bodies so quickly and made a reservation near the dungeon that So-yeon reserved again.

This time, there was some distance, so he didn’t face So-yeon as he just did.

After they quickly handled the dungeon and waited for the next dungeon.

“Hmm? They must have given up.”

Suddenly, Man-cheol tilted his head and muttered.

Seo-joon asked Man-cheol.

“What do you mean?”

“Look here.”

Man-cheol turned the smartphone screen and showed it to Seo-joon.

Seeing the list of dungeons available for reservation, Seo-joon could understand Man-cheol’s words without having to look closely.

“They didn’t reserve dungeons around me?”

There were quite a few dungeons that could be booked near the dungeon that Seo-joon reserved. Of course, there were dungeons that were constantly booked, but it was clearly different from the last time when there were no dungeons at all.

“She seems to have thought their damage was worse because we kept following her. She probably gave up because she thought it wouldn’t work.”

Man-cheol nodded satisfactorily and muttered. However, Seo-joon could not just think like that.

“Hmm… But don’t you think they’re giving up too quickly?”

“That’s true, but wouldn’t it be possible to give up the championship and aim for second place?”

“It’s possible, but…”

Nevertheless, Seo-joon couldn’t shake his reluctance.

Man-cheol’s words were not wrong, but she would not have made such a trick if she had such a normal idea in the first place.

At Seo-joon’s appearance, Man-cheol said,

“Isn’t it a good thing for us one way or another?”

“That’s true.”

Seo-joon nodded and pushed his rising doubts into one corner. Soon after, however, Seo-joon had to face his doubts once again.

Seo Jun arrived at the next dungeon with Man-cheol.

When he tried to enter the crack, it suddenly broke and a man he saw for the first time walked out of the dungeon.

Seo-joon asked, embarrassed for a moment.

“…Who are you?”

“Huh? Who are you?”

The opponent also seemed to be embarrassed, apparently he was a contestant in the dungeon sweep contest.

Seo-joon said to the man.

“This is the dungeon I reserved, but why are you coming out of here?”

“What? You reserved this dungeon?”

“Yes.”

“No way. This is the dungeon I reserved”.

Seo-joon wondered what the man was saying for a moment so he checked with the dungeon supervisor how this happened and he confirmed that the dungeon was reserved by Seo-joon.

“Oh, my God! Didn’t I make a reservation? I thought it was the dungeon I reserved again.”

Then the guy scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

The man’s subsequent testimony was as follows. He thought this dungeon was the dungeon he reserved so he came to do a raid and when he arrived he couldn’t see the supervisor.

It was a reserved dungeon anyway, so he didn’t have to wait, so he started the raid right away.

“What are you talking about? I haven’t taken one step out of here.”

“Really? You weren’t here when I came…Then I must have seen wrong.”

“What?”

At the man’s shameless words, the supervisor looked blankly at him for a moment but it already happened, then he bowed his head to Seo-joon and apologized.

“Sorry. I should have made sure.”

Seo-joon couldn’t argue with such a supervisor.

The Dungeon supervisor was an ordinary civil servant in the area and an ordinary person. On the other hand, the contestants were Hunter Academy students, and no matter how weak they were, they were super humans compared to the general public.

If they make up their minds the supervisors wouldn’t have a choice.

“This is a clear violation of the rules. I’ll disqualify you.”

The only thing that can be done is this kind of post-treatment.

“It can’t be helped. It’s totally my fault and my fault, so I’ll take it humbly.”

The man replied with a tone that the fact that he was disqualified did not matter.

“I’m sorry, brother.”

After apologizing to Seo-joon the man left.

Seo-joon looked at such a man and asked the supervisor.

“What happens now?”

“This dungeon will be invalidated.”

“Invalid? I booked the dungeon first, so shouldn’t it be counted as my dungeon raid?”

“That’s…I’m sorry. I can’t do that because of the regulations.”

The supervisor’s explanation that followed was that there was too much room for cheating. If that was possible, it would have been enough to make a reservation and pay someone else to clear the dungeon.

Nevertheless, the number is counted, so cases can occur if you just sit still and make a reservation.

No matter how much the purpose of the contest itself is to raid the unprocessed dungeons, it had to be fair because the competition was a competition.

“I’m so sorry.”

He kept apologizing so Seo-joon couldn’t blame the supervisor.

“Oh, my. I made a big mistake.”

In the next dungeon.

“Huh? Wasn’t this the dungeon I reserved?”

And then at the dungeon.

“I didn’t know. I’m sorry about this.”

And at the next dungeon Seo-joon went through the same situation as he did before.

At this point, I couldn’t help but realize what happened.

Day 5 of the contest that ended like that.

[1st place: Kim Seo-joon – 89 (+5)]

[2nd place: So-yeon – 87 (+26)]

[3rd place Park Jungjoo – 41 (+11)]

[4th place: Lee Ha Yeon – 39 (+8)]

Seo-joon ended up raiding only 5 dungeons.

“Oh, my! This is crazy!”

Man-cheol, who couldn’t stand this fact, was furious.

“How can it be like that wherever you go? Were all the supervisors bribed?”

“This…I will properly protest even if I have to borrow grandfather’s name.”

This time, Seo-yoon seemed to be very angry, to the point where she spoke without hesitation about the act of borrowing the name of the Sword Saint she hated so much.

If the name of the Sword Saint came out, the organizers had to make a definite gesture in some way.

As expected, the answer was about the revision of the regulations.

‘If another participant makes an unauthorized raid on a dungeon booked, the raid count may be transferred at the discretion of the dungeon supervisor.’

A reply came in less than a day.

He didn’t know what kind of protest Seo-yoon made, but he could guess by seeing the urgent revision of the regulations.

As a result, nothing like yesterday will happen, but the problem was that the day had already been wasted. And besides that, there was also the problem of the malicious booking of all the surrounding dungeons.

However, it was not against the rules, so they could not come up with any other countermeasures.

Above all, it was impossible to use it again because a large number of participants who were mobilized were disqualified this time.

However, there was no way to disturb Seo-joon now.

Day 6 of the dungeon sweep contest that started like that.

“Hey! What are you doing standing in the way? Get out of the way!”

“Oh, I’m sorry. The car suddenly……”

Contrary to what he thought there would be no more interference; a trick finally came in to find a way.

They stood in the way of Seo-joon and Man-cheol with really trivial but time-consuming things.

“What can I do about this? I dozed off… Are you hurt? Let’s go to the hospital first.”

While deliberately causing minor collisions.

“Oh! I’m sorry. I couldn’t see the green light because I was looking at my cell phone.”

He didn’t go on purpose even though he saw the green light.

Seo-joon was stopped on the road and those who were mobilized were ordinary people, not contestants.

As a result,

[1st place: So-yeon – 111 (+24)]

[2nd place: Kim Seo-joon – 110 (+21)]

Eventually, at the end of the sixth day, the ranking was reversed.

Seo-yoon, who heard this fact, naturally protested strongly to the organizers.

“They are denying all their relationship with Lee So-yeon.”

They all said it was just a coincidence.

“I’m sorry to have caused you damage, but what can I do about the situation?”

They couldn’t do anything about it as the people spoke like this.

“There must be money spent. Can’t you investigate the source of the funds?”

“The team leader of the dungeon management team says he will investigate it himself……”

“There’s no time left plague.”

Seo-yoon nodded at Man-cheol’s words and said,

“When I looked into it, I found out that Lee Seok-man, the director of Lee So-yeon academy is her father.”

“Lee Seok-man?”

When Man-cheol tilted his head, Seo-yoon immediately continued to talk.

“He’s a retired A-class professional hunter now. He’s one of the few people my grandfather acknowledged.”

“What? A professional hunter recognized by the Sword Saint? Is he that good?”

Seo-yoon shook her head slightly and replied.

“No. He doesn’t have any skills, but he has a big mouth.”

“What do you mean?”

“He has a lot of connections here and there.”

Man-cheol shook his head.

“So, it will probably be difficult even if he’s investigated. Even if it turns out, it will be a while. If my grandfather came forward himself, it would be solved quickly… ”

Seo-yoon seemed to intend to do so if it didn’t work out, but Seo-joon was not in a very good position.

Of course, as Seo-yoon said, it would have been solved quickly if Sword Saint came out, but if it did, it would have been like a dinosaur intervening in the children’s fight.

Above all he had to consider the Sword Saint if he really did come forward.

There was a big difference between borrowing a name and taking action.

“I don’t think he’s going to come forward himself.”

“That’s what I think. Most of all, I can’t even get in touch with my grandfather right now.”

“Then what are you going to do?” You can’t miss the championship like this.”

At Man-cheol’s words, Seo-joon picked up his smartphone and checked his ranking once again.

[1st place: So-yeon – 111 (+24)]

[2nd place: Kim Seo-joon – 110 (+21)]

It was a gap that could be caught up.

Seo-joon could have widened the overwhelming gap if there were no more distractions in the future, not just catching up but the problem is, of course, they won’t just sit there and watch.

Seo-joon was lost in thought for a moment.

“I’m sorry, Seo-joon.”

Suddenly Seo-yoon apologized.

“What? What do you mean sorry? Why are you sorry Seo-yoon?”

Seo-joon asked, puzzled, and Seo-yoon gently bowed her head and said.

“I… I don’t think I’m of much help.”

“You’ve been helping me a lot. What are you talking about? It’s like this because Seo-yoon actively stepped up. Otherwise, it would have gotten worse.”

“Seo-joon is right about that. Seo-yoon, you did the best you could. The rest is up to us.”

Man-cheol then pointed at Seo-joon with his finger and said.

“To be exact, this guy.”

“But…”

Despite that, Seo-yoon can’t hide her apologetic look.

Man-cheol shook his head and told Seo-joon.

“Hey, can’t you see that Seo-yoon is worried? So stop stalling and tell me quickly. You have a plan, don’t you?”

“As expected, I can’t fool you.”

“I’ve been with you for almost 10 years. I can see what you’re thinking just by looking at your eyes rolling.”

“Hey, it’s not that bad, is it?”

Seo-yoon looked at Seo-joon with surprised eyes at the conversation between the two.

Seo-joon’s smile leaked out at Seo-yoon’s expression, which looked like a cat crying so he explained his plan.
