CH 32.1

A cool breeze brushed through the pavilion, making the atmosphere seem particularly quiet.

The young man’s cheeks were red when he said this, and his tone was insistent, as if he had suffered some great grievance in the past and wanted to vent it all at once today.

You Jin’s expression was surprised. “Princess—”

Meng Huan frantically sucked in a breath. “Do not call me princess. For today, call me by my name.”

His words revealed his annoyance toward the title of “princess.”

You Jin and the maid, Fengzhi, exchanged glances, no longer persuading him. However, You Jin quietly backed up and walked towards Lin Bozhou’s bed chamber.

The reason for Meng Huan’s bad mood couldn’t be stated. He felt that he didn’t belong in this world of power and intrigue. He was a careless intruder, like a lamb breaking into a wolf pack, and everyone in the pack was wearing sheep’s clothing, so he couldn’t tell who was a friend or foe. When he racked his brains to look for them, everyone took off their masks, and he suddenly found that they were all wolves.

Meng Huan, a lamb alone, was prone to feeling confused.

He could survive through his own efforts if he were in a small family in ancient times. But as soon as he transmigrated, he entered the court marquis’ world. He had to associate with influential people and live with his head in his hands. A sense of exhaustion would overcome him, especially after the constant tension.

Meng Huan’s forehead rested against the cold stone wall, and his eyelids seemed to be stained with wine.

He was in a drunken daze until he felt someone lift him, put him on a shoulder carriage, and then drop him into a soft futon.

“Your Highness.”

“Get a basin of hot water, then go down.”

“Yes.”

Meng Huan sank into the futon, feeling something soft and hot brush his cheeks with a light fragrance. The hot pressure on his face was very comfortable. After the handkerchief finished wiping his face and was about to move away, he raised his hand and pressed it firmly.

The wrist holding the handkerchief was lean and strong, pausing. Meng Huan was like a puffer fish, his breathing changing from shallow breaths to choked, heavy respirations. Immediately after, the whole handkerchief stuck to his entire face.

“……”

The corner of Lin Bozhou’s lips rose, seemingly amused.

He took away the handkerchief. Meng Huan closed his eyes and eagerly sought it. “Wipe again.”

Lin Bozhou’s legs were inconvenient, so he only sat on the edge of the bed. He heard the handkerchief being re-soaked in the water before it came closer and meticulously stroked his brow and eyes.

The young man had obviously just drunk and blown his face cold. Now he preferred hotter things to put on his face. When his face was wiped, he rubbed his head gently in his palm like a kitten.

After he was happy from the rubbing, the tip of his nose was slightly red; his eyelids were also rosy after drinking wine, and it looked like he had just cried.

Lin Bozhou lowered his eyes, threw the handkerchief back into the water again, and then began wiping Meng Huan’s paws.

When he finished everything, he put the handkerchief back into the basin. When he suddenly raised his head, he saw that Meng Huan had opened his eyes at some point, his moist, shiny eyes looking straight at him.

Lin Bozhou: “Huan Huan is sober?”

Meng Huan solemnly shook his head, slowly moved forward, approached him, and huffed. “Have I been drinking?”

“……” There was a strong smell of alcohol.

Lin Bozhou faintly raised his eyebrows at the smell and did not say anything. Meng Huan’s lips skewed downward, and he inexplicably muttered, “I’m in a bad mood.”

He clasped his hands, lips slightly bulging, and looked like a child acting in a fit of pique.

Lin Bozhou briefly thought about what he had seen today and asked, “Why are you in a bad mood?”

“I’m not happy,” He said with a faint sobbing tone.

Lin Bozhou’s heart felt as if it was tickled, and he remained patient. “Why are you unhappy?”

Meng Huan seemed to think for a few seconds, then he sullenly said, “Bad mood.”

Rambling.

Lin Bozhou inexplicably curled his lips and smiled again.

His wife’s ability to express himself had never been very good.

However, he must be very unhappy since he said he was unhappy. Lin Bozhou raised his hand to touch his hair gently. “Huan Huan can think about why he is unhappy and say it. This husband will help you resolve it. If you can’t, Huan Huan can get some sleep. It will get better when you get up tomorrow morning.”

“Oh.”

Meng Huan scratched his hair and seemed to be thinking hard about his unhappiness.

But his brain was drunk. Everything became empty and white, and he couldn’t think of anything, but he just remembered that he was in a bad mood. It was as if he was missing the piece to a puzzle somewhere.

Meng Huan suddenly grimaced. “I can’t remember.”

The voice carried a sobbing tone.

Lin Bozhou’s fingers gently pinched his jaw, and he stared at his little doe eyes, coaxing him like a child. “Sleep if you can’t remember. When you remember, tell this husband again, okay?”

But Meng Huan frowned, his expression even sadder, and he desperately bit his lower lip. “I can’t remember. Am I stupid?”

“……”

Lin Bozhou lowered his eyelashes.

His wife seemed to have some kind of psychological shadow and was shocked.

Meng Huan’s tone became more certain, and he nodded fiercely. “I remember— I’m not happy because I’m stupid.”

His fingers clenched the corner of the quilt and forcefully pushed it down, letting out a desperate “Oooh—”

“……”

This was especially like getting a bad score on an exam, where you no longer doubted that you hadn’t tried hard enough, but you genuinely felt that your brain was not working and your mind just fell apart.
