CH 20

Due to midterms, I was temporarily relieved from acting as Sakuramiya-sensei’s fiancé.

The main motive of a student is to study so that he has a bright future. If someone falls in love, then he’ll lose most of their important time. Thanks to this excuse, so far I have had a very peaceful life.

I was confident that in this midterm, I will be able to score very good marks thanks to the study sessions I had with Sakuramiya-sensei in the past week.

Especially in the area of Japanese language, where I always get a red mark, I think I might get first place in my grade if I answer the questions correctly. Well, I know I’m cheating, but…….

Putting that aside, after the last day of the midterms, the class was even more lively.

The joy of being released from the test is one thing, but more than that, the joy of the approaching festival is even greater.

It’s an event that I also was looking forward to.

More importantly, the classes will be cancelled for about a week.

Anyway, the school festival related activities will begin in earnest from next week. In my mind, the only thing was to reach home as fast as I can and get rid of my lack of sleep.

But…

“What should I do?… What should I do?… What should I do?…”

Once again in the student guidance office.

I was confronted by Sakuramiya-sensei, who was clutching her head with her hands with teary eyes.

“What should I do, Segawa-kun? I think I’m going to be asked to participate in the Beauty Pageant competition in the school festival.

“Why are you consulting with me about it?”

Calling the students after school for such reasons,

And it’s no longer even related to the fiancé issue.

“Because I’ve already told Segawa-kun a lot of things about my internal affairs, so you were the first one who came to my mind.”

“Please don’t treat people as monologues without permission. I don’t really understand what you mean.”

“Somehow, Segawa-kun seems so easy to rely on.”

“Is that so?”

Well, it’s normally like that only. Boys are usually easy to rely on, and when they are asked for help, they respond to it without much thought. Of course, there are some exceptions.

“Alright, I’ll listen to what you have to say.”

“Well, I might have to appear in the beauty pageant competition next week, but I don’t want to take part in it.”

“It doesn’t work out that way. There is an unspoken rule that from the teacher’s side at least one of them has to take part in it. Until last year Amano-sensei was the one who took part in it, but as she transferred to some other city this year, so they chose you as their next target, huh.”

Certainly it’s because Sakuramiya-sensei is really beautiful.

If there are no candidates, then Sakuramiya-sensei will be chosen by default.

“Well, wouldn’t it be nice if you take part in it willingly? If it is Sensei, then I am sure you will win.”

“Yeah… Wait, absolutely no.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s embarrassing.”

It was a very common reason, nothing special about it.

Well, unless you have a strong desire for approval from everyone, you won’t participate in these types of events, normally.

“Even if you ask me, I can’t do anything about it.”

“But why can’t you do anything, Segawa kun?”

“Well, there is nothing I can do as a student. Are there any other teachers who want to appear in it?”

“… No.”

Sakuramiya-sensei lowered her head and said in a dejected tone.

It seems there is no one who can act as her replacement in the event.

“Is there really nothing you can do about it?”

“No, I can’t… Wait, I guess there is one thing we can do.”

“What?”

It was as if a revelation had come to my mind.

“Why don’t you use the beauty contest to find a fiancé?”

“What do you mean?”

“If you say something like ‘I’m looking for a husband’ in front of a crowd of people, I’m sure you’ll get a lot of candidates.”

“Are you seriously saying that?”

“I’m just kidding.”

“Don’t joke like that!”

I did blurt it out appropriately, but the flow is unexpectedly likely to be adopted.

It is not a bad thing to be actively involved with the opposite s*x in any way you can. It’s even more so in Sensei’s case, who is looking for a fiancée.

“But I don’t want to participate in the beauty contest…”

“This is just another complaint? Isn’t it? I’m going home.”

“No, you can’t. You have to hang out with me a little longer. There is nowhere else I can vent.”

“I’ll charge money for it.”

“Sure. How much?”

Hearing her reply, my cheeks twitched in frustration.

It feels like she is really willing to pay me. Should I extort some from her… Wait, what am I even thinking?

“Oh, that’s right. How about changing your mindset? Maybe you could reward yourself after the beauty contest is over.”

“Ah, that’s maybe a good idea… Well, then when the contest is over, let me meet Shi-chan.”

Sakuramiya-sensei raised her index finger and leaned forward to make a proposal.

“Eh, Why is that…?”

“Because she is so cute that I want to see her in many different dresses.”

“I don’t really understand your point.”

“In other words, she will act as my outlet for spending money after I win the competition.”

“Haah, I understand now.”

Well, Shi-chan doesn’t hesitate to ask for things obediently, and as long as she is happy, it’s alright with me.

And if that changes Sensei’s way of thinking, then that’s fine.

“I understand. I’ll talk to Shi-chan about it.”

“Really, thank you!”

Sakuramiya-sensei jumps excitedly. When I look at her acting so childish, my cheeks naturally relaxed, and a smile came up on my face.

… No wait, if Sensei and Shi-chan were to meet again, do I have to tag along with them again?

That would be a bit troublesome…. I was secretly thinking that maybe I should ask her to come over to my house.
