Chapter 31 – The Problem Is That Amazons Hate Men

The journey to the Ogres’ Great Forest is, quite simply, extremely pleasant.

The reason is, of course, Yuzuriha-san.

The duke’s status as the most powerful family in the country, and the benefits that came with the lavish use of money, were enjoyed by Suzuha and me.

It’s hard to imagine this is a trip going to the border on orders from the military. It’s truly a journey for the high nobility.

“—When we arrive at the Ogres’ Great Forest, please be careful, especially Suzuha-kun’s older brother.”

After dinner at a certain inn.

Yuzuriha-san spoke to me in a serious tone.

“The defensive stronghold in the Ogres’ Great Forest is a joint fortress with a neighboring country. Ogres advancing towards our country are our responsibility, while ogres advancing towards the other side are the responsibility of the neighboring country.”

“Yes.”

“As for that neighboring country…this is classified information, but a coup d’état occurred there a few years ago, but it was officially portrayed as a peaceful regime change.”

“I see.”

“And the people who are currently in control of the neighboring country are the Amazons.”

I blinked my eyes involuntarily. What?

“…Amazons? They’re not a fairytale?”

“Yeah, I’m not joking, it’s a real Amazon army. All this time they were supposed to have been retreating into the interior territory, but when a change of leadership occurred a few years ago, they quickly took over the entire neighboring country with their military power.”

“The tribal chief must be quite a capable leader.”

“Well, I suppose the chief has above-average political skills, but above all, there’s no doubt that their chief’s a military genius.”

Yuzuriha-san then let out a sigh,

“Here’s the problem… According to our intelligence network, it seems that the Amazon army has appeared in this year’s Ogres’ Great Forest.”

I wonder what the problem is with that.

“Isn’t it fine? Amazons are a good force to be reckoned with, aren’t they?”

“They are a force to be reckoned with. But the problem is that Amazons hate men.”

“Aah. I’ve heard of that.”

“Those Amazons, whose brains are made of muscle, really believe that men are only weak creatures to be used for breeding, and that men don’t have any more of the qualities of a warrior than women. That’s why the Amazons have an extremely negative attitude towards men, or even worse, they don’t even consider men as fellow human beings.”

“I see…”

“And this time we are vulnerable because there are only three of us because of the idiots in the military. On top of that, the treatment towards you, who are the only man among us, is bound to be incredibly harsh.”

Suzuha, who had been listening silently beside me, quietly opened her mouth.

“So you’re saying that I should smash all the b*****s who insult Nii-san, right?”

“C-Calm down, Suzuha!?”

“That’s fine, but make sure it’s not found out. If they do, it’s a diplomatic problem.”

“What are you even talking about, Yuzuriha-san!?”

“Well, that’s something we’ll discuss at length on the ground.”

“Please tell me you’re joking!”

Yuzuriha-san turned to me and bowed her head apologetically.

“I am sorry for the discomfort I have caused Suzuha-kun’s older brother. I am very sorry.”

“Nevermind that, please raise your head.”

“—That being said, it’s only a story for ordinary men that the Amazons don’t even recognize human rights. If they find out how strong of a man you are, they will undoubtedly change their minds, so endure until then.”

“Ah, is my level of strength enough?”

“…I have a lot of things I want to say, but if it’s someone as strong as Suzuha-kun’s older brother, then there shouldn’t be any problem.”

Then it’s a bit of a relief.

If even an amateur like me who trains on my own can be recognized, then maybe the rumors about the Amazons’ dislike of men aren’t as serious as it sounds.
