Chapter 35 – How Much Overwhelming Strength Did Suzuha’s Older Brother Display? (Touko’s POV)

When Toko returned to her room and read the letter that a servant had quietly handed to her as they passed each other in the hallway of the royal castle, she couldn’t help but smile with delight.

“The Amazon army has fallen… As expected of Suzuha’s older brother, I suppose?”

A coup d’etat plan is secretly underway in this country.

The plan is to defeat both the First Prince faction and Second Prince faction, who are fighting for the next throne, and have Touko, who is a princess, become the next queen.

Touko, one of the masterminds behind the plan, has no doubts about the success of the coup itself.

After all, with the four of the country’s best fighting forces—herself, Yuzuriha, Suzuha and Suzuha’s older brother—it was hard to imagine a future in which the coup would fail.

But as the future ruler, Touko can’t just become queen and be done with it.

It is necessary to think about the future and make preparations now.

“With this, we should be able to avoid the invasion from the neighboring country, which was the most dangerous threat… Those Amazons are incredibly strong, and their loyalty is bottomless, so if we don’t suppress them from the beginning, it’s terrifying to think about what could happen…”

The fact that a coup is taking place is like spreading the word that their own country is in chaos.

In other words, it becomes a factor that can worsen the situation.

Touko has had several conversations with the leader of the Amazon tribe, who currently effectively controls the neighboring country. They are a pair of extremely sharp twins, and definitely not someone you want to make an enemy of.

If they let their guard down, the Amazons will attack fiercely..

If it weren’t for Yuzuriha and Touko, they would have invaded the country long ago.

“But then again, the Amazons calling Suzuha’s older brother Taren-Nii-sama is too unexpected… How much overwhelming strength did Suzuha’s older brother display?”

It is well known that the Amazon tribe is an extremely strong hierarchical society, backed by actual ability, which is far more rigorous than any military.

But few know that among them there is a legendary rank that is considered even higher than the chiefs.

And that is Taren.

A title given only to men who are recognised by the current chief of the Amazons as being far stronger than themselves, and who are recognised as being even higher than the Amazons’ top members.

By the way, if a woman happens to be the strongest, she would automatically become the new chieftain and would not be referred to as “Taren-Nee-sama” or anything like that.

“Still… Fufu, I can imagine Yuzuriha’s frustrated face…”

Regarding Yuzuriha… Until now, Yuzuriha probably thought deep down that, despite whatever happened, she could eventually get Suzuha’s older brother for herself.

After all, Touko, who is supposed to be her biggest rival, is too much bound by the royal family. Seeing as the royal family cannot marry commoners.

Another potential rival is Suzuha, but she’s only his sister.

Of course, Suzuha herself probably never thought that way.

As for other rivals, they could simply be brushed aside by the power of the Duke’s household and Yuzuriha’s military might.

However, this is not the case for the Amazons.

The Amazons are known for their overwhelming military power, and their current chiefs also have a firm grip on the politics of the neighboring country.

With the combination of their authority, wealth, and military might, even the Duke of Sakuragi would pale in comparison.

Yuzuriha, who had an overwhelming advantage in the race to win over Suzuha’s older brother, could only barely compete with the Amazon chiefs on equal footing due to the advantage of being from the same country as Suzuha’s brother.

The position of Amazon chiefs is that strong.

“But Yuzuriha, you shouldn’t get angry… I deliberately leaked information about Suzuha’s older brother to the Amazon tribe and sent him to the Ogres’ Great Forest for the future of this country. It’s not like I sold him out to the Amazon tribe out of spite because I couldn’t get him, so don’t get the wrong idea, okay…?

The results were more than sufficient.

At the very least, the chiefs of the Amazon tribe deeply appreciate Touko for the fact that she was able to introduce them to Suzuha’s older brother.

The reward for this information is that ‘The neighboring country and the Amazons will not touch their country unless Suzuha’s older brother instructs them to do so.’

Although it was a risky bet that the chiefs of the Amazon tribe, who observed Suzuha’s older brother, might invade and destroy this country if they judged it to be a wasted effort, the odds of success were more than enough.

And, as a matter of course, they won that bet.

So it is definitely for the good of the country, Touko concluded.

It’s possible that there’s some personal feeling involved there, but who knows.

Besides…

“Well, if Yuzuriha and those Amazons end up fighting and things get out of control—E-Even if I have to break tradition and become Suzuha’s older brother’s bride, t-there’s no helping it, right…!?”

As a queen who governs the country, it is absolutely unacceptable to cause a disturbance on the plains over just one man.

However, what if a bloody conflict had already broken out and there seemed to be no other solution?

Even if there were no precedent—It is the Queen’s job to take away the source of the conflict itself and put things right.
