Chapter 179 Heartless.

Aiden was with Zhou Liying for the last four years. He was the one who helped her train for self-defence. He had seen her fire bullets heartlessly but still, whenever she killed someone he was always left in shock.

To him, Zhou Liying was very fragile and weak. He believed her to be emotional but whenever she killed anyone, never she cried, nor she filched, nor she felt any guilt or remorse.

It was always a shock for him to see a lady living in a normal society, a lady who did not have strict training like him, killing anyone without any flinch. He had many ladies in his troop and he saw many of them faint or scared after killing a person but not her.

"Aiden, send your most loyal man in search of Eagle. I think they know something about the people who are after my life. They may be linked with my kidnapping from four years back." She ordered and removed the blood of the now dead man from her hand.

"Copied that." Zhou Liying nodded and followed Aiden out of the warehouse.

**

Mu Yuehan too arrived at his secret dungeon. He looked at the eagle man hanging upside down, completely naked with blood pouring out from one body part or another.

Mu Yuehan walked toward the group and eyed them. He felt the floor-sweeping from under his feet when he noticed five eagle tattoos on the stomach of every one of them.

With doubt, he looked at his elite team head. "The dead one also has five eagles. Their hirer must have close links with the eagle head that he was able to hire all the top members of the gang."

Mu Yuehan again looked at the members. He saw smiles and satisfaction on their faces. They were not afraid of their death. They were proving why they were the best.

"Try to get all the information from them." Mu Yuehan ordered. "And if you feel as if help is coming to save them, then eliminate each one of them without any hitch. Got it."

"Got it." His head security nodded. Mu Yuehan gave a stiff nod and left the factory.

He was feeling concerned as to who was after the life of Zhou Liying. Who wanted her kidnapped?

**

"Miss, you need to see this." Min Yue turned on a news channel, the moment she arrived in her office. Aiden followed after her. "This news is running on each channel."

'Breaking news: there was an open fire at helipad and dockyard.'

Zhou Liying narrowed her eyes and watched the news which was reporting about the incident from today, where helicopters of some group arrived at the helipad and open fire on the other group.

"Was this our group?" Zhou Liying pointed out when she saw the group fighting against the Eagle gang.

"No. It was not." Aiden was also looking at the group with eagle-like eyes. He was focused on their tricks and the way they were working, to see their skills.

"I will try my best to find the identity of this other group," Aiden promised. "Now I will take your leave. I need to tour Shanghai to memorise its map in my mind."

Zhou Liying nodded and watched as Aiden left her office. She sighed and returned to her seat. She was feeling glad that she was able to easily handle this threat in her life.

**

Was Zhou Liying affected by the incident which took place in the morning?

No, she was not.

She had already hardened her heart. She was ready to kill anyone if needed. So, she wasn't a bit affected by the incident in the morning. She had her lunch like usual and then attended the corporation's monthly meeting, again without any tension, worry or guilt visible on her features.

During dinner time, as usual, she received a tiffin box with food cooked by Mu Yuehan.

"I hope you liked my proposal.

Zhou Liying frowned, not remembering when he proposed to her today but then she remembered the balloons and cake in the morning, "Was that a proposal? He is a fool if he thinks I will get ready to marry him with his stupid and cheap proposal." She scoffed.

**

When Zhou Liying returned to her penthouse, the thing she saw first was the balloons placed in the living room. They were no longer puffed like in the morning but they still had some air in them.

She then saw the card placed on the table. Involuntarily, like a magnet, she was attracted to the balloons and the card. She took the balloons in one hand. She picked up and tore open the card. She read the message written on it:

'Marry me, please. I promise to always keep you happy, to stay with you forever.'

Again, like morning, her heart became heavy. She felt all this setup quite familiar. This thought brought tears to her eyes. She felt a heavy burden was squashing her heart.

She stood up from her seat and walked toward the kitchen, to have water. She opened the refrigerator and then her eyes fell on the heart-shaped cake. Unknowingly, a sob escaped her lips.

She picked up the board with cake over it. She took a knife and cut it. She ate the cake, trying her best if she could remember anything, anything which was making this scenario familiar to her.

She felt that the taste of the cake was familiar to her taste buds but she did not remember when she had eaten it, and this bugged her badly. She wished to know why this felt so familiar.

"Why is it that whatever HanHan does seems so familiar? Did I know him during my missing years?'

She immediately dismissed this notion, 'if he knew me then why did he not say about the same? He could have used that time to marry me, but no. He does not know me. It may be a coincidence.'

Zhou Liying looked at the cake and gasped. She had eaten half a portion of the cake lost in her thoughts or its taste. She shook her head and placed the leftover cake in the refrigerator.

She cleaned her hands and made her way toward the bathroom, in a need of a cold shower to shoo away the heaviness of her heart.
