CH 17

[Unbehー]

The Horned Sheepoo that appeared behind our backs seemed to be the boss of the small herd.

This guy is the only male and the rest are female.

Ain: “What is this? A harem?”

[Unbeheheheheheー]

What a disgusting laugh, ERRRGHー!

We descend down the mountain with 5 Horned Sheepoos following us, and once we arrive at the orchard area, the Sheepoos all halt.

Ain: “What’s wrong?”

[Unbeh]

The Boss Sheepoo raises its chin at something. It’s gesturing towards something on top of the tree.

Looking carefully, I see something like a lantern.

Ain: “Oh, is that a Magic Stone Lantern? Are you scared of that?” [Behー]

Sia: “Ahー.......lan-ahnー?”

Ain: “It’s a lantern. The Magic Stone is a special stone you obtain when you defeat Dungeon Monsters. If you place that stone inside a fire, it emits a smell that Monsters dislike.”

It’s a smell that doesn’t affect humans at all though.

Ain: “But hey, that lantern isn’t even lit.”

Even so, the Horned Sheepoo shakes his head in defiance.

It probably has an ingrained habit of sensing that smell as it gets closer to town.

Ain: “Okay. I’ll bring the carrots, so wait here. Sia, can you help me?” Sia: “Gahー.......yea”

Ain: “Oh, that was more like a normal response just now.”

Sia and I collect the remaining carrots in the weed-filled field. After pulling up all of them, we have only about 30 total.

Ain: “We won’t have enough for us, but we have other vegetables too, so we should be okay.” Sia: “Ohー”

Ain: “Now we just need shears.”

With the remaining chains, I make shears. I take that with the carrots and head to the orchards, and all the Sheepoos were still there waiting for us.

[UNBEhhhhhhー!]

[UNBEH. UNBEHー]

[UNBEH-BEH-BEH-BEHー]

The Horned Sheepoos got really excited looking at the carrots, and they took the carrots from Sia and I and ate it with delight with a <crunch crunch>.

Ain: “I still have more.”

But they wouldn’t accept the second serving.

Instead, after they finished eating the carrots, the female Sheepoos came over and rubbed their noses against us.

Ain: “Oh, are you giving us your milk?!”

[Unbeh~] I wasn’t sure if she was saying, “That’s right~” but I assume that’s what they meant.

I hurry up and gather the branches laying about and make a bucket.

Ain: “It’s my first time milking…...so I’m not sure if I can do it right. Forgive me if I do it wrong.”

[Unbeh~]

I want to believe that she said, “Don’t worry~.”

I grabbed the bouncing udders of the Horned Sheepoo, and it felt warm in my hands.

Ain: “Ohhh, they’re so softー”

[Un……..UNBeeeehー]

Ain: “Ohhh, did that hurt? Sorry. Here, I’ll be more gentle this time.”

[Un. Unnnnnー]

What…….am I doing right now? <<<<>>>>

Ain: “Thank you Sheepoo! If we need more, we’ll come get youー”

[Unbeh~]

With a bucket full of milk and a tone of sheep wool, we thank the Horned Sheepoo and return to the inn.

Ain: “We’ll wash the sheep wool tomorrow. First, let’s go ahead and make the cheese.”

Sia: “Yea”

In my previous life, I’ve made cheese before. But it was with goats milk that you could buy at the grocery store.

You need salt and lemon juice.

Ain: “Sia, can you squeeze some lemons?”

Sia: “Yeaーー”

First, we need to disinfect.

We use two frying pans and boil the Sheepoo’s milk. We keep the fire low so we don’t evaporate the milk, and gently cook it over a small fire.

After some time, we put in the salt and then the lemon juice next.

We mix this in well, and take it off the fire, and wait for the frying pans to cool. During that time, I can make the stuff we need with my [Alchemy BOX].

Ain: “I need a strainer…….and I need a cloth to suck out the moisture…...I guess we can use the sheets for that. Of course, we’ll wash the sheets first.”

Sia: “Yea”

Shia brought one of the sheets. I make a tear in it with my teeth and tear off a piece that’s about the right size I need.

I wash the sheet and place it on top of the strainer. I take the sheep milk and pour it through. I also have a bucket below the strainer so we can use the liquid that pours through.

Ain: “If we leave it like this, it should turn into cheese by tomorrow morning.”

Sia: “Oooooohhhhhh”

Ain: “Here, let’s do dinner. It’s pretty late since we were busy making the cheese.”
