Chapter 13 - 12

It had been a few days since he had attacked the hunting tribe, solace had granted him permission to move to and fro from the study and the semi-plane, in the past few days Layton had been soaked up in the library flipping through materials to absorb more knowledge, wizard was one of the few professions that really proved the phrase knowledge is power.

Although Layton had been memorizing and reading anything remotely related to his rune the effect was minimal.

Solace had noticed this and thus today he was going to teach him personally.

Solace walked in the study a little bit flushed apparently he had finished his daily workout. Layton was curious as to why solace did it every day because as Layton became an apprentice his physical fitness had exploded and because of the special nature if his rune he did not need to exercise to improve his fitness, in fact any exercise he did was beginning to be useless talk less of simple push-ups.

When Layton asked the question solace did not give answer claiming it was far beyond his level for now but solace did vaguely say something about vows and restrictions, hearing this Layton vaguely guessed the hunter x hunter world had probably been visited by the wizards already, Layton couldn't help but wonder if he would still be able to meet a familiar world that hadn't been visited by the wizards already.

Solace sat down on the sofa opposite and poured himself a drink, solace was thinking about how to properly teach his apprentice, it was the first time he was doing something like this and he wanted it to do well after all he was extremely satisfied with Layton.

To be honest when there was a problem with Layton's initial breakthrough solace was a little bit disappointed, although even with the problematic rune Layton could still achieve a good level but for him to have a good position in the wizard seed program it would be difficult after all there were a myriad of geniuses in the void, and so solace had thrown Layton into the semi-plane maybe Layton would show an outstanding talent in combat and that would make up for his shortcomings but Layton's performance had been lackluster except for the outstanding talent shown in perception, when solace was about to give up suddenly Layton was enlightened the rune had gone beyond what was even expected of it before and it had fully imprinted on his mist, the subsequent of the rune made solace very satisfied, although his use was rough but the power and potential was already very good.

"to be honest I am very happy you finally were able to imprint your own characteristics on your mist."

Solace's magnetic voice resounded in the room "but you shouldn't be happy yet I'm sure you have begun to notice it, your spells are too rough and the power is not smooth to control."

Layton nodded indeed he had been feeling that feeling on inadequacy and his instinct had been warning that he had been going on the wrong path.

"the truth is to imprinting is just the first step to become qualified to be called a genius in the true sense, although the wizard profession is based on runes what truly makes us at the top is the spirit the rune transforms which gives us easy access to different layers of reality."

Layton hearing this couldn't help but pay more attention he had always been wondering how to utilize his connection to the spirit dimension but it had no effect other than increasing his perception.

Solace continued" for spells to truly take effect it's supposed to be casted in different layers of reality but this is difficult because the rules in the normal layer we all perceive is different from other layers, the knowledge you have to be transformed to be able to apart to both the layer you connect to the and the layer the spell will take effect, for example the common knowledge of knowledge of friction and its relationship to heat doesn't fully work in the fire elemental layer, to create flames there one only needs to excite the element's there and flames will easily occur, if I try using the same knowledge in another layer like the dark elemental layer there whether it is the exciting or trying to simulate the use of friction flames would not occur."

Solace said while showing the effects in his palm, Layton first noticed the flame elements being excited and releasing it energy causing flames to appear, the on solaces other palms he simulated the effects with the dark elements, the only effect was that the black smoke was released from the palm and it started absorbing the light in its area.

Layton watched this and was about to start simulating it in the spirit layer but then he noticed there were no elementary particles there to excite it was just full of confusion and countless information running around looking around Layton tried controlling a little bit of different parts of the fluttering information together and tried to collide it but the only effect was that it created a illusion and the area of the spirit layer became more bizarre and cluttered suddenly the space in the spirit layer was vibrating a horror seemed to be gestating because of Layton's action.

Layton quickly disconnected from the layer panting in horror and bright, "what was that?" Layton couldn't help but ask in fright, although solace wasn't able to see what Layton's actions but he was pretty sure of what his apprentice had experience.

" that my boy is the next lesson I want to teach you do not perform experiments you are not sure of in a layer of reality you do not understand especially a top layer like the spirit plane, there are many creatures that the concept of reality, illusion and space do not apply to them any action you do might cause them to be curious and trust me you wouldn't want that, caution is a needed trait for a wizard that is why there are cultivation chambers and spell rooms the environment is to help novices experiment freely without too much dangers."

Solace walked up patted his apprentice who was still shaking and nodded with satisfaction he believed the experience he had today would make him more cautious in his dealings, solace had noticed the hidden dangers in his apprentices domineering rune, he used a confident and kingly state of mind to exert its power and solace wanted to teach him even a king still needed caution and overconfidence would lead to death, for that solace had used a precious material that he was sure would attract the attention of monsters roaming in the spirit layer otherwise there was a high chance that with his apprentices high luck no matter what experiments and noise he made in the spirit layer nothing would be attracted.
