Chapter 61 - Void

Looking at the back of Makarov leaving the room Layton looked at what would be his new abode, it was a simple room with a simple bed in the middle and a reading table and chair situated at the corner, there was a platform in the corner exuding some subtle magical fluctuations, which Layton guessed was a teleporter after all the house was larger than it seemed.

Turning on his connector Layton connected to the magic net hoping to see if Makarov had sent him a map of the house, he found that Makarov had sent him some materials part of which was the map of the house and granting him authority to connect to the Tower spirit, connecting to the tower spirit Layton quickly found the hut was basically a house shaped wizard tower, his authority only allowed him to view some unimportant places on the floor he currently resided, closing the huge map and deciding he would check it out later Layton tried connecting with other users on the Magic net but he found that he couldn't apparently the permission was locked.

The magic net was similar to the internet of his previous life except that this one was inlaid in the rules of the void and spanned countless worlds, and that if in remote places a mage tower was needed for weaklings like him to have a deeper access to the net and communicate with others all over the void just like the internet, the weakling here was referring to his cultivation base, a level 1 wizard was considered a weakling in the Wizard world and only level 3 wizards could have permissions to connect freely with the net even then a cumbersome device as the connector was no longer needed as the connection could be done directly by the spirit.

According to the introduction of the connector, the mage net was one of 3 major networks that spanned the void, the other two were the Tiandou net and the Virtual Web which belonged to the Wu civilization and Science federation respectively.

Sitting on the simple bed and feeling comfortable Layton started reading the information that had been sent to him, calmly selecting a material tagged introduction to the void, after a quick read Layton finally had a more compact idea of what kind of place he had been reincarnated into.

The world is very vast and there is already trans planar and trans universal transportation connecting virtually all planes, the void is like it sounds very wide, one can float in the void for millennia without meeting a second life form or finding another universe.

Where Layton was located now was a new plane created by Makarov that existed directly in the void, only top forces in their various civilization can establish bases directly in the void, other forces resided in their own planes and opened a trans planar channel which could allow various other powers to come and go to various corners of different universes as they please, even then Many forces and practitioners longed for the opportunity to enter the void for various reasons, one was that the resources found in the void although scarce are very rare and precious, second the energy to be found in void is several times richer than the most precious plane or universe, and lastly once one strength grows to a certain limit the amount of naturally occurring planes able to accept the powerhouse presence becomes very few, and so most peak civilizations and organization reside in modified plane's or rare strong natural world's that existed directly in the void, in fact the original world of the wizard civilization was such a rare world that existed directly in the void.

Layton's birth plane was a very barren one and was located in a very remote part of the void, no new or precious resources and no strong man had been birthed from the plane even the wizards on the plane were those that practised the archaic system of witchcraft which focused on energy affinity and absorbing primitive particles combining them with their spirit to form magic.

At present Layton had no nostalgia for his birth plane and since Solace and Minerva, the only new age wizards who were practising the rune system had left naturally the plane was no longer suitable for his growth, after using the magic net to browse a part of the various materials Makarov had sent him Layton had come to this conclusion.

The area of void Layton was located right now was more remote than the area his birth plane was located and it was likely he would not be able to see anyone unless he applies through the magic net to teleport him to the nearest populated sector but there was no need to do so now after all he had just arrived here still a weak level 1 wizard that could be crushed by anyone outside and the void was an area where powerhouses and descendants of powerhouses gathered.

Layton removed his mind from the introduction of the void and looked at the other materials present, looking at the names of the various articles "perception and intuition", "relationship between the body and soul", "evolutionary capabilities of the basic human cell", "overview of reality and perception", "will and soul" etc.

Layton was ecstatic looking at the materials he knew was going to spend most of his time reading and studying in his room soaking up knowledge after all in the last plane he had an overwhelming advantage thanks to the peculiar environment and conditions of the plane but he still wasn't able to form a crushing advantage against everyone else, he knew this was because of his lack of a solid foundation and now he had the chance to make up for it.
