Chapter 73 - Miracle

"Witness the miracle jotunheimr,"

These words resounded in the ears of everyone present in star city, just as the mortal citizens were confused and perplexed by the emergence of this voice suddenly a huge grey giant emerged from underground breaking through the subway tunnels and rocks that blocked its way as it stood upright and proud, as it freed itself from the rubble and stood erect the grey humanoid shaped giant let out a huge roar letting the world hear its voice and feel its existence.

Soon enough screams and shout rang out through the city as thousands of people witnessed the emergence of the grey-skinned giant that was still visible by everyone throughout the city, the magicians among them grew solemn as they could feel the immense magical power that coursed through the giant's body and the more perceptive of them noticed the deep connection with the giant and the earth beneath their feet.

Layton punched through the collapsed rubble that sought to bury him and leapt out looking at the giant humanoid in front of him. "jotunheimr" Layton murmured as he stared, Layton remembered this was a famous location in legends and mythology not just on earth in his past life but also in the void. It was a rumoured realm of giants, their kingdom, safe haven and place of birth.

Judging from the name the scholar obviously aimed at recreating the mystical place and creating his own giant kingdom and factory in the city using the magic nodes hidden underneath and the giant in front of him would undoubtedly be able to harness the magic in the earth whether for power or for healing or infinite resurrection remains to be seen, the only good news was that this miracle seemed to be incomplete.

Layton was confidently making assumptions based on the name the scholar spoke not only because of his intuition but also because scholars when naming Miracles were never casual, miracles were basically the culmination of their scholar's research, the name given symbolizes their expected results. Miracles were also the main reason scholars were disgusted by others, the creation of a miracle apart from the use of arduous calculations and energy also basically twisted the rules of the plane the miracle is performed, it was like a blob of salt being thrown into a cup of water although the salt would later dissolve and disappear but its presence in the cup of water would undoubtedly change the nature and taste of the water so was the same with miracles, although scholars at this level couldn't make permanent miracles but their temporary miracles were enough to drastically alter the world they were in, Layton would not be surprised if after this event some years, month or days later there would be mortals with the characteristics of the giant in front of him or even that another giant was born in another part of this world.

The giant in front of him was basically a scaled up version of a normal human with a gender neutral face and short brown hair and healthy limbs the only differences being its grey stone like skin and the absence of a reproductive organ in its toned muscular body.

Layton was using his colour haki on full throttle trying to perceive where exactly in the giant the scholar and the brain specimen were located, his intuition was telling him the specimen was important and judging from the fact that the specimen was preserved underneath and still kept radiating an aura of life before it was incorporated in the stone giant Layton guessed it was the scholar's contractor.

A huge wind broke Layton out of his thoughts as a huge fist was pressing down on his location, apparently the newly born giant had stopped roaring and was now focusing on the enemy.

Staring at the oppressive fast fist coming closer Layton's expression remained unchanged, his colour haki already allowed him to perceive the fast movement in slow motion, with nothing but a thought he urged his heart, the vital organ started accelerating pumping blood at a rate beyond its normal limit the flowing thick blood in his veins moving swiftly becoming hot and releasing heat, ignoring his heart Layton turned his attention to his pores, relieving his lungs of their respiratory duties he manipulated his pores to breathe in the best rhythm to exert all the power in his body, not stopping there he controlled his muscles making them twitch in the rhythm of the earth he had comprehended before.

All this happened in a split second and Layton immediately moved raising his fist to meet the giant knuckle that aimed at crushing him.

The two disproportional fists hit each other squarely setting off a loud bang as the nearby windows shattered and numerous winds were birth as a result of their collision.     Layton noticed the giant's palm was overpowering him a little and so he activated his armed haki covering his fist and squeezing the cells of his fist to provide more power.

The two fists finally reached an equilibrium but the giant moving surprisingly fast and agile for his size removed his fist and kicked towards Layton.

The toes of the giant plowed the earth and displaced countless rocks and dirt, Layton was no longer in his previous position since he completed his rune he had been able to vaguely influence his own natural biomagnetic field and using this he was able to briefly use his own field as a lever to influence the magnetic field of the soil around him to propel himself forward swiftly enabling him to move rapidly very close to the speed of teleportation not just relying on the exerting of strength of his body to move rapidly it was basically using the whole earth to help him move, he was already behind the giants other foot and at his speed the giant was unaware of the rapid changes, aiming for the tendon of the foot and covering his whole arm dark with armed haki he punched forward, a small sonic boom appeared as his muscles that were moving in that particular rhythm released all of his muscles restriction and provided more strength with a bang the giant lost his balance as it fell down the back of his foot having being blown into pieces by Layton.
