Chapter 89 - Temporal Anomaly

Igor sacrificed the entirety of his arm, compressed the mass that made up the arm including the spiritual aspect of the arm and used it to open a miniature black hole a perfect replica of its true form in reality.        Although it sounded like something a wizard do it was actually sound extraordinary science, according to the theory of relative any massive object distorts the surrounding space-time around it, based on this theory by creating a mini black hole of such immense mass for just a second caused a distortion of the space-time around Igor and Layton who was close to him.

A temporary creation of such mass and density was difficult to control even for Igor thus it was necessary that the mass be made up of his own body which would help alleviate the difficulty in controlling the black hole even if it only emerged for a split second.

Although it seemed that he had actually manipulated time it was nothing but an illusion, Igor couldn't perform something so esoteric at his level he was only able to twist the surrounding space-time creating an anomaly, an illusion deceiving everyone in the range of his powers including himself giving the illusion that the scene of him being pierced by the wizard was happening now whereas it was yet to happen, it was merely a product of the distortion creating a different time zone within its range which then created a time phantom a phantom which would disappear the moment the distortion seized to exist and the surrounding which it encapsulated got back into the normal time range of the world, even if Igor sacrificed the entirety of his body it would not be enough to truly control as profound as time through his gravity powers.

Tang qi who was outside the range of the distortion was not affected and was able to react and have enough time to accumulate the attack which he sent through the slash of his created blue sword to Layton as soon as the phantom seized to exist.

A sharp bright blue light emerged out of nowhere right in front of him without any previous signs in his perception except for the danger sign his intuition was screaming at him but even then it was too late to dodge he could only face it head on, the attack was too fast and Layton did not have time to change his body information to form a better defense, raising his hand forward as if aiming to catch the attack his body flashed with faint traces of lightning as his bio magnetic field was excited by his psionic which channeled and excited the natural bioelectric current in the body the created electromagnetic field formed by his body and psionic formed a solid defense against the attack but the amount of concentrated qi in that sword slash was not easily defeated by the hastily created defense, after a few seconds of stalemate the magnetic field was breached and the slash met his body solidly sending him crashing down into the cold hard floor sending a plume of dust covering his figure, the dust dispersed to reveal the wizard step out with a large slash right across his chest, a wound which was in fact rapidly healing soon enough leaving nothing more than a faint red mark on his skin, the slash although sharp enough to inflict an injury down to the bones but Layton's physique coupled with his psionic healed the immense injury in a matter of seconds, although Layton seemed fine now the fact was that the previous slash was composed of miniature sharp streaks of water attributed qi, streaks so sharp and small that the attack inflicted tremendous pain as it slashed not only his skin but also damaged the surrounding nerves, it was because of this that Layton had to spend a great deal of psionic to accelerate his healing in order to stop the wound, his normal rate of heling would have taken a great amount of time before it healed which would then affect his battle.

Layton stared at Igor and Tang qi who were opposite him panting heavily as the short clashes they both had done and the moves made during this short exchange of blows were draining and exhausting on their scarce stamina and energy, Layton couldn't help but think back to the anomaly that occurred a moment before, although he didn't know how his perception was deceived for that moment but he was sure it was not an easy task evidenced from Igor lack of an arm and although he was surprised and terrified when the anomaly first occurred but now he was excited there was no better feeling than the one brought by rapid advancements and Layton knew if he could experience that anomaly a few more times his perception would not be so easily deceived again, in fact after experiencing it this once he was able to guess the source of the anomaly was faintly related to the concept of time.

Staring at his opponents an excited bloodthirsty smile crept on Layton's face this was the most exciting battle he had encountered since he had traversed, the battle in the avatar plane against the monk was not thrilling as he had spent most of his time fighting against his instincts brought by the Magia Erebia spell and the hastily created martial intent trying not to become a monster with no mind, this time there was no such problem he was in control of all his action and the rapid changes and surprising situations in combat terrified and fascinated him Layton could feel that Igor and Tang qi were also excited, they no longer cared about winning or losing, the prize of the war, or the fact that they were representatives of the three major civilizations, they just wanted to fight to give their all and see this battle to the end, the fact that they had to join hands was embarrassing enough and now they had to fight till they were eliminated they wanted to witness how far the wizard that drove them to this point could go.

With a manic grin still on his face his psionic surged exciting his magnetic field and bioelectricity streaks of blue white electric currents appeared around him supercharging his magnetic field as he shot forward leaving only a bolt of lightning in his path, with his immense speed to the naked eye of Igor and Tang qi, the wizard seemed to have transformed to a bolt of lightning heading in their direction.
