Chapter 114 - Wizard Department

Layton brought himself out of his thoughts as a faint alarm resounded on his mage net connector resting on his wrists, it was the notification he had set in order not to miss the core wizard class.

Closing down all running apparatus and leaving the white pristine environment Layton stepped out of the martial art department and headed on the road towards the location of the wizard department, his pace was quite leisurely as school city spatial structure was special the roads not really straightforward, as long as one had a clear destination in mind as he was walking the individual would reach the destination in 5 minutes or less regardless of the distance between the starting point and the destination.

With his walking speed and the special environment of the school city, the scenery rapidly changed from the Chinese style building that made up the bulk of the landscape surrounding the martial art department to a western style environment, in nothing but a few minutes Layton was already standing in front of the busy wizard departmental building.

The wizard departmental building was in the shape of a magnificent old Victorian-style manor, the sense of vicissitudes and time emanated from its wall gave it a unique charm, the doors had countless bizarre runes printed on its surface, putting his palm on the black ebony wood-like structure the door quickly opened showing him his destination.

Stepping into the room where the lecture would be held Layton was greeted by a unique sight, all around him were various miraculous visions, various energy and elemental particles were shown in their primitive form interacting directly with the environment without interference from the various planar dimensional boundaries.

Wizards could normally view the scene of various energy plane dimensions around them but it definitely wasn't as clear and intuitive as this normally all beings have an elemental affinity, that is there were certain elemental particles they were closer to and were easier to manipulate, even wizards although able to view and manipulate most elemental energy particles still affected by their affinity as the level of affinity still produced effects by reducing the difficulty in accessing certain elemental planes not only in accessing but also reducing the difficulty in viewing them.

Take Layton for example his elemental affinity is darkness and flame but his rune is linked to the soul plane, his rune directly endows him with the soul element affinity which is why he was able to use his mind to directly enter the soul plane, he could also achieve this feat in the fire and darkness elemental planes but couldn't do so to other elemental planes as he can only view them via his high spiritual power and manipulate the escaping energy particles with his strong soul but he cant directly enter the plane with his soul which also affects his comprehension of other elements.

Not only that, affinity also affected the ease of perception, It was like a patient with myopia viewing an object in the distance this was the case where one viewed the elements without affinity or where the affinity was very low while viewing those with which the affinity existed was clear like viewing with both a microscope and a telescope but this wasn't the case in the manor, the surrounding space was crystal clear various elemental particles with high activity were shown directly interacting with each other without being affected by the laws of the material world, energy particles colliding with each other annihilating or evolving more and more profound and bizarre elemental energy particles even energy that was very rarely found and discovered..

It was like a fairy tale land with various bright bizarre colours flowing around, of course, this sight was not for all to see, only wizards and those with high spiritual power and spatial affinity could notice this amazing scene.

Layton could see why most wizards attended this core class just this peculiar environment was enough, and although Layton did not have any direct improvement he could tell this scene was vital and enough for him to quickly understand various laws and complement and optimize his legendary domain in the future.

Layton removed his attention from the scenery and finally noticed his physical environment, the room seemed limitless and numerous figures were inside sitting or floating in the air, judging from the fluctuations being sent around it was not only wizards like Layton that were present but other types of wizards, although most of the wizards were alien to him but Layton quickly recognized a different type of wizard he had read about before, they were called old age wizards or spell casters.

They were wizards who didn't inscribe a single rune in their souls but instead using the old way of practising quite similar to the orthodox wizard novels Layton remembered reading on earth but with a little change or evolution, they still used specialized basic meditation ideas composed of small basic runes relating to their affinity or different paths, but they didn't need to inscribe spells in their soul to advance instead using their meditation they completed the change of the soul to mist.

Every meditation idea came with its own inbuilt talented spells structure and the wizards could use their meditation runes meditation runes to mimic spell structure to display spells, their way of advancement was achieved simply by increasing their perception of basic runes, increasing the number of basic runes in the soul while combining them to form various fixed structures much like the Taoist visualization thus sublimating their basic meditation ideas to effect a change and evolution of their soul form.

Judging from his perception there were other types of wizards present some even higher than his realm but Layton was unfamiliar with them, the reason he was able to even recognize the old type wizards was only because he had encountered a book describing them when he was browsing articles in the library.

Layton scanned the room once more and successfully noticed where zero and Lilith were located, he quickly headed towards their location as he stepped away from the entrance the rules of the material world were changed it wasn't with his body he was moving but instead the power of the mind was what created a movement, Lilith quickly noticed Layton and sent an excited smile, Layton was about to reciprocate when he and everyone's attention was uncontrollably attracted to the middle of the room where a figure had already appeared it was obvious it was the person in charge of the class.
